What was the community impact of your volunteering project? Last time we undertook our SVA project we made Boomerang Bags, something that we introduced to our community. We persuaded our local Countdown and most local shops to reduce the number of plastic bags they were giving out.

I used this kit very successfully a couple of years ago so wanted to do this again this year. Originally my class signed up to support the Riding for the Disabled Gingerbread Horse appeal. We have done this before and it was a great way for my 5x Y7/8 classes to work together to support a very worthwhile cause. With the second lockdown happening we did not hear back from the charity. I think that restrictions regarding cooking in large groups for sale meant we could not do this. Unfortunately we were restricted by having to create costumes, props and scenery for our production, as well as squashing everything else in to what little time we have left this year. The SVA kit has been put on the back burner. I do wish to do this next year and will endeavour to make this happen. Doesn't help that I do not have my own class... the reason why I wanted a project that 135 students could take part in,

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? We organised to visit a local retirement village and worked alongside residents to tidy some houses and many of their gardens. We grew plants from seedlings and planted these in the village gardens.

I’m so sorry we haven’t had a chance to use this yet in our packed timetable! The kit is incredible and extremely well resourced, thank you- I definitely look forward to using it soon in the near future, if not possibly save it for term 1. Thank you!!!

The kit was awesome - unfortunately the lockdowns and Level 2 restrictions when back at school impacted what we could do in terms of volunteering in the community so we did a school based programme instead

We used this kit with a small group of our Year 6 'Knights' (Leaders in training). The kit was fantastic in walking us through the process of designing a collaborative volunteer project. Because all of the students had roles, they all had buy-in with the project. Our project is on-going as it has sparked an interest from the wider school and we now have a knitting and crochet club supported by our wonderful office staff. With many of our students involved in learning to knit I can see this as being an ongoing project for the future.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? Positive impact on the community. We sold ice blocks to raise funds for Arohanui Hospice. Recently a staff member lost her husband to cancer and some of the students have had family members with cancer. Was a tangible thing we could do to support those du
