What was the community impact of your volunteering project? Unfortunately, like a lot of schools here in Auckland, Covid had a detrimental effect on getting our performance and message out to our intended audience and the local community. Gosh! I don't know where to begin! Every year this just gets better and better, and I love that this year you made it possible for our students to this 'from a distance' so to speak. The resources provided are mind-blowing, not to mention the tips and advice. Thank you guys so much for the time and effort that must go into making such incredible resources.

Hi, due to Covid Level 2 we have got behind on our School Kits. I am just completing AS I SAW IT with our museum exhibit tomorrow. Starting SVA next week. I have submitted feedback through another email re: volunteers in my class and the adjacent class who have initiated their own volunteer army by involving the neighbourhood in a stream clean-up last year and again this year. This flowed on to involving the district council and was repeated this year. All of this followed on from an SVA kit undertaken in the adjacent class last year, Keep NZ beautiful competition and volunteer clean up around the local wetlands, as well as a rubbish clean up and survey at our school last yer. We had planned to use the SVA to plant natives along our adjacent stream and in our school grounds - linking to our existing plantings and creating a bird corridor. We won a grant from the ELF fund. However, this all came in too late for planting this year and we have postponed until planting time in Term 2 next year. Meanwhile, we will start the kit next week and look at individual project ideas - these may be much smaller to manage before the end of the year. Do you still want feedback once completed? I have a student teacher so we will teach this together.

THE BEST KIT EVER!!! wow, I actually can't say anything more highly for this kit. It was PERFECT after our Covid 19 experiences. See the students in my class out and about was amazing, they had so much passion and excitement for this kit and went over and above with their community projects!!! Cant wait to take part in the 2021 SVA kit!

What type of project did your class undertake? Greenspace Project
A great protect that encourages children to be self motivated learners. Involved team work as a focus and is great for teaching social skills. The resources are great and children enjoy being able to proudly wear their arm bands. Thank you for letting us be apart of this project and the learning it provided.

What type of project did your class undertake? Staying in Touch from Afar
We have been making cards to drop when we go out on one of our regular weekly community walks around our school neighbourhood. We have worked as a team, brainstormed, planned, created and are still working on the last wee bit - long weekends and staff sickness have not helped. We have enjoyed this project and it is a great way to get children involved in their community We are a group of new entrant children - we are the Piwakawaka Chicks

The SVA project was a huge success with students gaining so much. There were a variety of projects with groups ranging in size from 1 through to 4. This meant that there was a lot of organising needing to be done but it was fantastic. The students were fully engaged and the resources were fabulous - easy to follow, use and understand.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? It was mainly for our tamariki at school to care for our fruit trees in our school orchard. Our tamariki tend to pick the fruit before it is ripe hence waste it. The goal is for each class at our school to care for a fruit tree cutting and take it home to
