“The SVA Schools: Volunteer Kit enabled my learners to plan and participate in a learner-led school and community clean-up. They were surprised to find such a range of rubbish that could have been reused or recycled, which led to some interesting conversations around the dinner table with their families.”

What was the impact of your volunteering project on the targeted community? We haven't completed this phase yet but I am confident it will be very positive.

What type of project did your class undertake? Project for Those in Need

“We used the kit to set up our community projects with groups of around 20 students aged year 7-10. We found the kit gave us an excellent structure for the initial stages of the project. It helped us narrow down our ideas and select do-able and fun projects. We found that the roles were a little too specific, and some people found they didn't have enough to do but the guidance for the team lead and the communications people was spot on and very helpful. As the teacher I needed to step in and help some of the others to be productive contributors (but that's not really surprising!). We encouraged our students to log in to the app and log their volunteer hours and some of real keen beans have done this and are very motivated to earn the badges. Overall I would highly recommend this kit and the excellent support that came with it.”
