What made you decide to undertake a tax based programme and specifically the Part of something bigger kit for your students?
It is an important topic and the resources looked like a great way to engage kids in something that is not always seen as "sexy".
If you were to re use this resource in the future, how would you see yourself doing this? (Eg, as a full unit, separately in other units of work, integrating into cross curricular lesson plans)
As a full unit but with greater embellishment of parts of it to take greater advantage of the build up to get more payoff.
How effective was the Melani interactive in increasing your students' understanding of tax?
How would you rate the change in your own understanding of Tax systems and what it contributes to, prior to engaging with the kit?
Which part/s of the kit did you find the most useful in supporting you to teach financial literacy and why?
I am not sure really. It was all really good for understanding elements of the system (with limited work on tax collection and who pays). I think the setup around teh characters and thinking about the role of government in providing for individual needs was very well done and most useful for my class. I just wanted more on the whole system especially the critical thinking question around who should pay tax and how much we need to collect to deal with the needs of the country and its population.
How would you rate the change in your students understanding of Tax systems and what it contributes to, prior to engaging with the kit?
Which part/s of the kit grabbed the attention of your students and engaged them the most?
Same as me. I think they engaged really well with the first half. The set up around their characters and linking to the tax system was really successful.
How useful would you say the kit was at extending students overall financial literacy?
