“I've been using the shampoo on my dog for a month now. I used it probably every 4-7 days. This made my dog's itchy skin so much worse, resulting in a skin infection from the shampoo drying her skin out. I just got back from the vet and now have to give her antibiotics to clear up the infection. The vet said her coat & skin were incredibly dry, and to stop using the shampoo.
I did like the smell of the shampoo, and it's probably a good shampoo to use every once in awhile, but not every 3 days as directed.

I'm really sorry to hear that! This isn't something we typically hear of our Dog of the Woods Probiotic Shampoo + Conditioner. She may be sensitive to the fragrance. The recommended washing interval is once every 2-4 weeks. The probiotic kefir supports the skin’s natural biome and doesn’t disrupt it, so you can bathe your pet as often as you’d like.
For pets with chronic skin issues, it is best to bathe them once every three days for the first two weeks, then once a week until the skin normalizes. You are fine switching to a monthly or bi-monthly routine once the skin has normalized.

“This product has absolutely changed my Shepard‚Äôs skin and coat, however that took time. The first 2 weeks were rough. She smelled terrible just 2 days after her first wash. We washed again, same thing. Her itching/chewing seemed the same. I almost gave up and emailed for a refund, then I remembered the time in college I did the NO-POO method for my hair and scalp, that process was awful as well. The first 3 weeks my hair was gross, oily, my scalp itched and I was washing daily. However, that changed with time and trusting the process. All these years later I have healthy hair and scalp, no dandruff, no itching. It just didn‚Äôt start that way, it was a process. Now here we are 3 orders later and my last order was the gallon jug of shampoo. My girl is no longer itching/ chewing herself, her flaky skin..gone, she smells great for over a week at a time, she stays soft and fluffy. Added bonus, her shedding has decreased tremendously. Seriously, give this product a full and true try. One month minimum!”

“All I can say so far is my pup‚Äôs fur and skin seems better than it has in a long time. At least 2 years. I was using a medicated shampoo that worked good but after 3 or 4 days her skin was already starting to dry back out and her itching and scratching came right back.
I tried other methods as well; not bathing her to let the natural oils come back, medications, and all sorts of allergy related products.
