I ordered a Smeg free standing cooker on 20th November and was happy to get a confirmation back that the delivery, installation and diposal of the old cooker would be done on 27th November. However, once i had left work and been at home waiting for the delivery, I received a call from KnowHow (Appliances Direct subcontractor for the work) because they weren't going to be able to deliver to the agreed date. Delivery 1 - Failed. It was then back out for delivery on the following Monday. I quickly made arrangements at work to be away for the morning, the cooker was delivered but after the box was removed the delivery guys from Knowhow pointed out some obvious damage to the storage compartment door. They notified they manager who instructed them to return the cooker to the manufacturer. Delivery 2 - Failed. During the following days, after i found out that this was the only cooker left in stock, i negotiated some compensation with Appliances Direct and had a revised delivery date of Friday 4th December but Knowhow then refused to carry out the installation of a damaged cooker. So i quickly found a local engineer and asked him to carry out the work for me on that Friday. On the day (more time away from work!) the delivery van turned up but without a cooker on board!!! This was a different set of delivery guys from Knowhow and couldn't give me a reason for this apart from 'the warehouse team must have got it wrong'. Delivery 3 - Failed. I was back on the phone to both Applicances Direct and to Knowhow over the next few days until someone actually found the cooker. Rather than the phone call with an apology, i received a text message from Knowhow to say they next delivery date will be Friday 11th December. In light of now having to take more time off work for delivery number 4, i had to discuss more compensation with Applicances Direct. The delivery van actually came with a cooker this time but didn't give me any warning so my engineer had to rush over to complete the installation for me. When it was taken out of the van, the cooker was wrapped in cling film and bubble wrap instead of boxed up as it was originally. After removing the numerous layers, we found more damaged panels, took photos of the lot and finally got it working. Delivery 4 - Success. In summary, cheap prices but no service. I only stuck with the order with Appliances Direct because this cooker was the only one which would fit the gap in my kitchen. I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Please avoid this company.
