Jan and I did some surface-level ring shopping together to get a sense of what was out there in the world, and then I went about finding a ring that I wanted to propose with. I was lucky to have a rough image in mind of what I wanted. The unlucky part was that a lot of the jewelry stores I went to just didn’t have anything close—and when they started quoting me for custom work, it was immediately out of my price range. They helped me talk through what I was imagining, translated that into designs so I could actually see what it might look like in real life, and then helped make thoughtful adjustments to get it just right. They kept me in the loop every step of the way: from design follow-ups, to diamond bidding, to updates on available options, to the actual production of the ring. It’s been a while since I proposed, but I wanted to make a point to come back and write this review because I was definitely a little nervous about doing this whole process online.
