Ups refused to deliver a package from the U.S. to me unless I paid 43euro and 52 cents. The contents value of this package is 43 U.S.D. The T shirt and calendar in this package were bought online from a registered charity called flatbush cats. The taxes and other charges were therefor ridiculous. I called their so called helpline on approximately 10 separate occasions. Twice I managed to get through to a person. Their telephone system is not fit for purpose. The first time I got through I was told their customs department would phone me. They never did so. Their customs department is not fit for purpose. The second time I managed to get through the operative told me he could see the taxes were not to be applied but there were still charges. He could not explain to me what these charges were or do anything about them. The helpdesk is not fit for purpose. They do not have a helpdesk email on their website which can be contacted without making an account with their company, absolutely ridiculous. When I try to make an account their webpage tells me there is already an account associated with my email address. When I press the 'forgotten password' button and fill in my email address for them to send me a link to change password not once has their system send me a link and I have tried this action repeatedly. Their email system is not fit for purpose. Finally at the end of December 2020 an email address has turned up on their telephone system messages, about time. I emailed ups. I told them that the charges were not justifiable and to deliver the items to me without them or to bin the items. They did not contact me in any way but if the tracking number is entered into their website the message that now comes up is: package not wanted by customer. This does not address any of the issues which I brought up with them. They just took the easy way out. Their performance in this matter has been abysmal. In a completely unrelated matter I had a ups prepaid parcel label for an item to be returned to Thomann in Germany this month. I twice used their telephone system to book a pick up and twice no one collected the parcel. I asked Thomann to cancel the label and provide me one for An Post, which they did. Their parcel collection system is not fit for purpose.
