Riverford is a brilliant box scheme for organic fruit, vegetables and meat. I love their customer service and their offers are tailored to many different life circumstances from singles to big families. They have started to offer recipe boxes as well as juicing boxes which should make your mouth water. Their homepage on the mobile is a little difficult but you can always call your deliverer or write to them and they always sort something out. If you want organic food at affordable prices and a huge availability don't miss Riverford!

Mostly very good quality produce, occasionally superb flavours in fruit and veg. The delivery people put the boxes wherever I want them even though I change the place depending on the weather. I just leave a note on the doorstep. Excellent customer service; they always refund for poor quality items. It is annoying to have to complain quite often but they strongly stress that they want to hear about problems so they can put things right.

They ford the rivers in their vans delivering veg that's not in cans; unpolluted, fresh and clean, to make us happy when they've been.

I too have noticed a decline in quality and flavour over the last year. Sometimes items are going off a few days after delivery. Reduced my delivery to once a month and may stop altogether. Such a shame as i like supporting local producers.

I really have noticed a slow decline in the quality of the fruit and veg over the past year. But recently the potatoes having been getting smaller and smaller. I really do feel that when you order the veg or meat boxes you receive whatever they have left over. When I order meat or veg separately it seems to be much better quality that what comes in the boxes. I am really thinking of finding an alternative.

Not sure about Riverford. I had their deliveries for a bit, then stopped but decided to give them another try, and got my first veg and fruit box today. Sorry to say I'm not very impressed. There was so little there! A handful of a few veg for over £12 and a very small quantity of fruit for about £9. The baby tomatoes had a funny taste (picked too soon?) and I've grown my own tomatoes so I know how delicious fresh toms can be. In the fruit bag there were about five apples, a box of grapes and a rock-hard mango (think of all those air miles importing it). I know they're organic, but still it seemed a lot of money for very little. I might try other sources, eg Waitrose, in future, especially if I can choose the veg and fruit I want rather than having it chosen for me.

I started ordering Riverford a few years ago. Great quality and varieties back then. However, things have slowly gone downhill since. I hope this changes before I stop ordering as I was trying to support local economy and environment.

Oh dear Riverford - what went wrong? We were loyal customers for years and loved the boxes but the quality has declined bigtime in the past couple of years. Stopped ordering and they emailed to ask why. When I told them, they offered a £5 credit off one of their boxes. After a four month gap, we ordered again. A sad looking box arrived which included a rotten cucumber. They refunded the box cost but we won't be ordering again. Such a shame - who knows what has happened but Riverford used to be top of their game a decade or so ago. No longer.

Loyal customer for number of years forced delivery day change which is not an option for me. Despite contacting them there was no recognition of loyalty didn't want to cancel order but had no choice. Really disappointed at the lack of support for loyal customers things have definitely changed not same company anymore.

I am a long-standing customer (15+ years) and have always loved everything about them from their food to their ethics. Due to self isolation staff shortages I have been informed that I do not have a delivery this week - I didn’t have one of the veg boxes in my order as I have been choosing different ones each week. There was no opportunity to add a box - I have not been out since last March so not going to supermarket. We have all been accepting and understanding of the pared back choices whilst Riverford also took on new customers. I think it’s time that Riverford stoped taking on new customer for the foreseeable future, I understand they are not currently accepting new customers but come lifting of restrictions and easier summer times they will take on yet more customers and fall over again come autumn/winter. This is not just about me not receiving my veg box this week but a growing realisation of Riverfords changing attitude. Please Riverford put your loyal customers before an ever burgeoning customer list.

I am becoming a little disillusioned with Riverford. Not sure it is value for money and of the freshness of the groceries. On three occasions I have had rotten items. Parsnips, then clementines and a couple of days ago a rotten cucumber. I am not sure of continuing after Christmas

We have been customers of riverford for nearly 2 years now. Initially this was brilliant, until lockdown started. To start off with, I never dared complain, after all it was a very extraordinary set of circumstances. However, we started receiving notifications with the boxes advising there was a surge of new customers and that existing customers were the priority. Very quickly after this we saw a sharp decline in the quality of the food. The potatoes were tiny and bad quality, most of them throw away. We then had a problem with 2 kale batches. Could be the kale, or more likely a bad reaction to that kale. I was sick as a dog for 3 days. I called riverford when I saw the following box would again contain kale and they very nicely changed it for me and advised me I could manage the products I didn’t want in my box in the alerts. I did this and for some time we did not receive any of the items in my alert items. So far so good and a great customer service I thought. Fast forward a few months and we have recently got 1. Corn in the web that was only half matured. 2. Potatoes with obvious signs of frost (brown large spots inside), and 3. The dreaded kale. I sent an email asking why kale was included in my box when I advised them already of my not wanted items, as told by their customer service, and why it was in my house. I also asked them about the potatoes and general quality of produce lately, and sent pictures. I have now received a couple of emails advising that the alerts are for them to do nothing and for me to be checking my emails for said alert, where I have got a window of hours to change my items. And without apology for the decline in quality, that they would send it to their team for them to check. When I insisted upon the need for said alert which means I have to check my very busy inbox within the window given to change items, I was only reiterated that’s how it worked. When I asked them why I’d been told to use that functionality and ‘never worry again’, I was told that’s how it worked. When I asked them what I do if I cannot eat their kale due to intolerance and not the fact I ‘don’t want it’ (as they seem to imply, alerts are for unwanted items, not allergies or food intolerances), I received a big fat no response. So now not only the quality of produce had taken a nose dive, but also the quality of their customer service, who were amazing to start off with, and now it feels like you talk to a robot. Impenetrable, yet I’m a paying and loyal customer, and have recommended them to so many of my friends. I would not recommend them again now.

The vegetable box was expensive and often contained a great many "seasonal" courgettes, which had limited use in our cooking. It almost seemed as ifd the firm had received a boatload of courgettes and tried to dispose of them, instead of supplying a good range of more normal things such as onions and cabbages. When we ;earned that this firm also supplied meat boxes, and in consequence, did not operate to a code of ecological ethics, we stopped the orders. Ethical firms do not sell meat, "organic" or otherwise.

First order, fresh and nice, but very tiny amount of items, the box is as light as my shoe box, not worthy of the money. Quite disappointed.

Saw your produce at a stand in Borugh market. Absolutely pitiful wilted veggies. Staff at thebstand v defensive saying " well you can't expect veggies to remain fresh' as if they were doing me a favour to sell this pitiful stuff to me. Improve your quality and do what you claim. Provide top quality fresh veg as is widely available in the EU. Not limp English veg quality please. Your greens- kale and spinach and various salads were absoutley shocking . An absolute disgrace. Raise standards to those of your EU counterparts. And don't blame Brexit and COVID as is the customary contemporary English behaviour for suboptimal quality.

3 messed up deliveries in a row, freezer bags no longer being used. Service desk poor excuses and "I'll add £5 credit" solution made us decide after 2 years to stop using them. Service charge earlier this year was okay(ish) but the new schedule (and new contractor?) really messed things up.

Awful delivery. You're given no Eta then a series of conflicting times, then a no idea just wait all day. No one wants meat sat in a van all day. It's disgusting. They don't refund and all round don't care. It's been an ongoing issue of delivery with them. People need to stop using them
