“Hidden charges - Ryanair car hire
I do not recommend booking through Ryanair.
We booked a car from Las Palmas airport in Gran Canaria. The car was not at the airport. We had to wait for a mini bus and then we’re taken to the middle of nowhere and then told my husband could not drive the car unless we paid €9 a day extra. We never chose a main driver, it was just assumed I was the main driver as I booked the flights.
The lady at RecordGo was rude, I called Ryanair - also unhelpful!
We had no idea where we were, the people were intimidating, our children were with us. Ryanair are a disgrace. This was a horrible situation, don’t even consider it.
Everyone at the car hire had an issue of some sort. There is a reason it’s cheaper, no many extras needed in typical Ryanair fashion.
At the time of booking I had no idea they would take €1200 insurance deposit plus €85 for fuel deposit! The car had fully comprehensive insurance with no excess - according to the booking.”
“Horrible! Had to cancel our booking due a flight change by Ryanair itself. Took more than a month to get the refund. I contacted their servicedesk so many times to get our money back. The servicedesk was amateurish. They promised me so many times that refund will be in on my bank account within 5 working days. Eventually after I threatened them to get my money back via the creditcard company they finally processed the refund.”
“The flight delayed because of Ryanair, so the car rental company charged overnight fees even though the car was booked through Ryanair. The car insurance/coverage was paid but the rental company (centauro) did not approve it and you had to buy another. The cost with all these culprits was finally double the amount of renting.”
“Car rental rip off/scam
Rented car through ryanair in menorca Airport. Minibus to RecordGo rentals in an industrial estate.
Having paid insurance when booking was then told I needed to pay additional insurance £150 if I refused pay £1100 deposit!!!
Car was dirty, scratches and scuffs so took lots of pictures before getting inuo car.....total scam by ryanair!”
“Booked a hire car through Ryanair in April 2022 for collection in August 2022 at Knock airport. The car was allocated to me by Hertz who Ryanair allocate booking too.The seatbelt on my hirecar came away from the drivers floor mounting on my first evening in Ireland Could not get through to Hertz at Knock airport as desk closed when this happened.I was in a remote location so had to drive car illegally without seatbelt to get back to my accomodation.Stlll couldnt get through next morning so sent email to Hertz customer service. Never had a reply back so reported at Hertz when i returned car.Correspondance has been ongoing by email including photographic evidence of faulty seatbelt and eventually Hertz agreed refund of half my rental but said as booked by Ryanair they have to refund to me and Hertz will confirm this to them.Ryanair are refusing to make the refund and Hertz say they are not allowed too as booking made through Ryanair app.I am owed money refund agreed but no way of getting either parties to pay me.Any advice what i can do next as i am living in UK and at my wits end

“Bad from start to finish
Dont use
Wouldn't accept my annual car hire insurance policy as valid so wanted 2000 euro deposit at airport
Said no
So stung me for 130 euros for full fover instead regardless I'm covered elsewhere
Bought car back at end of rental with 1.5hr before flight but as there was a small amount of sand in the boot they told us to go have it deleted or they would do it for 150 euros
May look cheap to hire through them but you will end up paying far far more than elsewhere”
