About Carphone Warehouse:

The Carphone Warehouse was founded in 1989 to bring mobile services to consumers. The market has always been complex and our aim from the very beginning has been to offer our customers simple, impartial advice while also offering outstanding value. As a result we have grown from a handful of stores operating exclusively in the UK selling mobile handsets and contracts, to a European-wide platform of over 1,500 stores in 10 countries, providing a wide range of mobile and residential telecoms services.

I received a new phone within 1 month the screen would not open. Try contacting them and placed on hold all the time is annoying. Also they suggest you go to currys and speak to them. They won't entertain on line buys from carphone warehouse. They have said they will collect them phone by dad Who delivered the phone. But now they are saying asjitnis a public place that they might not collect. They take the money quick but trying to find someone to help non existent. Currys say they don't hold details of money line purchases so why do the company tell you to contact curry. Who are miles off the beaten track in industrial parks. So again I must go through the process again.

Now I know why they are listed as 76th best (ha!) mobile phone shop on Trustpilot. Had a SIM only contract £6 per month, and was offered an upgrade, over £17 with a new phone. Supposed 14-day cooling off period. 2 days later, I notifed Carphone Warehouse, both in-store and by phone, that I had changed my mind and wanted to cancel the upgrade. So I didn't get a new phone (obviously), but am now paying almost 3 times as much as I should be paying, and don't even have the new phone! And locked into the worst possible contract for the next 2 years!!! Whenever I contact Customer services by phone, they say that I must go to the store, where I was originally to pick up my new phone. Predictably, when I go to the store, they say that because I had arranged the upgrade on the phone, I must call customer services again. Need I go on??? Their stores and Customer services are like two separate organizations that don't speak to each other. Nobody wants to help me. I really don't like to leave negative reviews, but the way I have been completely ignored, with empty promises that someone would call me back, have left me really frustrated. How are other customers, with less experience, going to find them... I dread to think. I notice that whenever others leave negative reviews for Carphone Warehouse on this site, they offer a pathetic apology and try to give the impression that these are isolated incidents, but the facts speak for themselves. Their standard response: 'We are very sorry to hear about the issues with your order, at Carphone Warehouse and Curry's we pride ourselves at putting the customers at the heart of everything we do and unfortunately we have fallen short on this occasion which we apologize for.' This insincerity on their part only adds insult to injury. Their treatment of these people is inexcusable. My advice... Have nothing to do with this wretched company.

Carphone use a very outdated system, takes ages to make a purchase any where else you just go in and pay by card, here you have to open an account etc, ordered a phone on next day didn't arrive went in 2 days later, cancelled. Went to Argos took 30 seconds to order and walk out with the phone took 3 days to not receive a phone with carphone

I have never had such bad a experience as I did with Carphone Warehouse, my sim was not transferred over at the time it was promised which was still not resolved the following day as promised when I called on the 9th, i had no updates when it was promised, I had no phone call back as promised, I had to drive down to Vodafone myself to get them to unlock it for me and they informed me that my order was still open ( it should be set as in process or something) and Carphone Warehouse made no notes or request for the SIM card to move over, all the requests I made over the phone was not on my profile, they had to personally call the port people to get my SIM card unlocked. Absolutely unacceptable and to make matters even worse, an agent at Carphone Warehouse cut the phone on me on the 10th when I was trying to explain my situation and asked for an update. I was not rude nor did I raise my voice. I was unable to work for 2 days! This is unacceptable and very disappointing! I made to orders and I had to cancel them all because of how unreliable and unprofessional the company is. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. The worst customer service I have ever had, they truly don’t care. I will never deal with this company again, I don’t care how cheap it is, is not worth the stress I was under for two days.

I have used carphone everytime I needed a phone for the last 20 years or so . Never again. They are useless. BTW they asked me to phone them as they needed more information.

I need the Wi-Fi for my flat was told by the salesman from the Woking branch that Vodafone with the best signal so purchased this under contract got it home and it did not work to which took it back and cancel contract was then told he would be the best to get me what I needed the amount I got it got it to the flat it wasn't enough so it sent it back cancel contract anyway managed to sort this out with an actual hub rather than a dongle band advice from the salesman the also I now have a credit issue because the salesman three years ago did not cancel the Vodafone contract so this means my credit rating is not good so be wary of them taking out a contract with Vodafone especially if you cancel it in the correct time limit don't believe they will cancel this because they do not Regards Michael wheeler

On the 22nd of April this year I made an insurance claim., it all went through. Great.. phone will arrive 23rd or 24th as a weekend.. my daughter took day off on the Monday 24th.. no phone.. I rang and asked where it was.. they said there was a problem it'll arrive Tuesday.. I rang again later on on the Monday to make sure it will arrive Tuesday. Yes of course it's on it way they said on the phone.. Tuesday came and went another day off work. No phone.. on on and on the phone calls went from me as nobody contacted me even though I constantly asked to speak to someone who knew.. eventually another day off work on the Friday 22nd the phone came.. I eventually got a call from customer service on the Monday and got £100 compensation which doesn't even cover wages lost, phone calls or my trips to carphone ware house here. But I took it as I'd had enough by that point. Monday night the phone stopped working.. kept rebooting. My daughter could not take any time off work. I emailed customer service to see if they could help. No reply. So I Phoned insurance this morning. Sorry that phone out of stock, you'll have to wait, I asked them to send any phone, as I explained I have a young daughter working as an intern in London, no family there and no phone. Nothing we can do they said. I eventually remembered I had the number I got the call from on the Monday rang them, asked them to send her a phone or she can pick up one from a nearby carphone warehouse. A few hours later they'd magically found a phone to match the one. God knows where from or how this will work because they had none earlier. So I said to send a new phone, part of compensation for 2 weeks of an absolute shambles. That was a no. I have to say I myself have my insurance with Vodafone and cannot fault their customer service. Carphone warehouse needs to take a leaf out of their book. Terrible treatment towards their customers. My daughter also tried to seek help at a currys store in Canary Wharf. Absolutely no help.

Wow wow wow, so I'm not the only one to be scammed with the £175 cash trade in your old mobile for a Google pixel 7 deal. SHAME on you carphone warehouse, as I have 2 contracts running now as the £175 was suppose to pay off the other contract. My story, seen the deal above, looked at the terms and conditions which stated at the time and I have also taken screen shots of them, "trade in for £175 with a working or non-working mobile". I contacted CPW and went through the terms and conditions and would my phone be ok to trade in and they said yes. So, went ahead with the deal. When processing the only option I had when trading in my phone under "trade in" was "recycle", now I wasn't really bothered about getting any money for the mobile, it was mainly the £175. Everything went smoothly and the computer did not stop me to say my phone was ineligible, as remember from the T&C's it was any working or non-working phone. Anyway 6 weeks later after several calls to CPW I spoke to them today only to be told that I am not going to get my £175 as the phone was worth £0 and was ineligible. I was almost crying, I felt conned and taken for a fool. I have since been to Thier website and looked at there T&C's as they still have the deal running and can see it's been amended. It's lucky I took a photo of the originals and I have the phone logs, times and dates when I called to enquire. I have put in a complaint after customer services couldn't help to the tradeuphelpATcurrys.co.uk, I am not expecting a lot but I am going to fight tooth and nail for my money even if it means going to a small claims court, I did everything I could and by the book with Thier T&Cs, surely all the bad press just shows how bad things are CPW, make a men's and sort things out and when people make contact respect them and the deals you have made. Don't take customers for fools. Just got a call back from complaints team, a person called Iviwe (they don't give surnames) who informed me that they are going to not pay me the promotional value, even though they acknowledge the terms and conditions of working or non-working phone. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, they will rip you off. I am going to a small claims court for this.

Carphone warehouse customer service is borderline criminal... I am now paying a 24-month contract that I don't want, for a phone that I did not receive. Story in a nutshell... - Accepted phone/ 24-month contract upgrade. Dec. - Regrettably changed my mind within the 14-day cooling off period (before receiving phone). Called carphone warehouse who contacted DPD to return phone. - DPD loses phone. They advise it is up to carphone warehouse (the sender) to resolve the issue with them. Agreed. - Carphone warehouse refuses to cancel contract or cooperate to resolve lost phone issue. They even refuse to provide any written evidence that I ordered the phone to begin with. Their advice is it is a "civil matter" between DPD and myself and I need to contact the police. Ridiculous. -I now have no option other than to recover charges through my bank or raise the issue through the regulator. That was the short version after going in circles with their customer service. From speaking to multiple customer service representatives, I found that as we approached an impasse, they would be quick to become argumentative. Several occasions where I would be put on hold then cut off. Occasions where they advised that I would be contacted again or receive additional information, then nothing. There was absolutely no expression of empathy to the issue, and no willingness to provide further advice. They simply washed there hands of the issue. The one and only positive is that they are quick to get hold of without any waiting time. To conclude... Don't risk/ waste time with a third party seller, even one that seems well established like Carphone warehouse. Go direct to the network company (Vodafone in my case), or avoid phone contracts all together.
