“Would not recommend Chess ICT to anyone. Having been a customer for a while, when my elderly mother moved and she couldn't take her number with her, Chess ICT made her pay until the of her contract. There was no negotiation at all from them. And even when we email to say we want to cancel the contract at the correct time, they keep saying they will call to negotiate and see what they can do to help! Clearly not looking at the notes on the account and reading what has happened, the number is no longer in use! All they want is the upsale! Shame on them for taking advantage of a vulnerable elderly lady. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID”
“My company used chess for 5-8 years. In the past 12 months or so we noticed two things: the speeds promised for internet were not achieved - we were give all kinds of excuses, but no solutions. the second thing we realised was simply even if the speeds promised were reached they are no longer sufficient for the demands made by industry.
I tried to discuss this with several people at Chess but to no avail. Not a single person actually made any attempt to find a solution. Things came to a head in October when I was told 'there is nothing we would be able to do to help until the contract renews in January' . What a short-sighted way of doing business. The company has lost my business, I have now got full fibre broadband 300/45 at less than two thirds of what Chess charged me for 35/15.............

“I gave notice and closed my account in January 2025 and received a credit note for our final invoice, however one month later we received an invoice for further charges and this has carried on each month until I have cancelled the direct debit with our bank so they cannot take any further payments. I am now taking legal action against them over all the invoices I have received since my notice period ended”

I followed it up in May & again in June. I am still getting emails. Fortunately I cancelled the direct debit myself. They are depressingly poor quality.”

“After a business relationship lasting over 12 years and after we had paid the amount that Chess calculated to be outstanding - and that we paid - Chess then decided that they had mis-calculated what was owing and demanded a further £96 to settle and then instructed debt collectors to collect.
For the sake of £96 we paid this amount as the amount was small and the work involved to fight a court case would be disproportionate.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY and AVOID!”
“When I first went to chess for my broadband I was put on a 5year contract that I wasn’t aware of until I tried to extricate myself from it . The charges were prohibitive so I stayed with them . Since then I have been able to negotiate a lower monthly payment and a shorter contract period . I feel the company have improved greatly and the service I now receive is very good . I believe they are attempting to make further improvements as they grow .”

For a telecom company they have little to no interest in been contacted and there ticket portal is a joke.
For your own sanity choose another telecoms company.”
