I've now used Corte Clean for ridding my composite deck of mold in the spring of 2013 and 2015. I skipped 2014 but regretted it because the deck was significantly more difficult to clean the next time. I'm completely satisfied with the results I achieved on both occasions. The only difficulty I experienced was associated with the mixing of the product for application via a garden sprayer. The powder simply would not dissolve completely. The first year I used paint strainers to filter the solution as it was being poured into the sprayer but that was a mess as the strainers deteriorated and became clogged beyond use in one pour. The next year I was better prepared with a wire kitchen strainer that I could use in concert with a large spoon to force the powder through the mesh, thereby mechanically aiding the dissolution of the powder. After contacting Corte Clean about this it was suggested that my water might be too hard to achieve complete dissolution but my water tested at a neutral ph of 7, or that the product wasn't "fresh." However, on both occasions the product was used within 2 weeks of its receipt. I have know way of knowing how old the product was when it was shipped to me. BTW, using hot water didn't appear to help either. If you're okay with the inconvenience of the mixing hassles, or luckier with it than me, you'll be rewarded with a clean, mold free deck.

Overall works well, but does require quite a bit of scrubbing. Have to work fast before it dries. Nice that it doesn't harm the bushes. A little expensive. Should make it more available at retailers like Home Depot.

It cleaned our composite decking and lasted a year before we started seeing small mold spots again.

It works on my Timber Tech Manufacture Patio Boards. I have to do it in sections and it takes quite a Bit of Water to clear the chemical off the Patio boards. It does take out the grease dropping that I sometimes have after Bar B Queing. Works best on a Sunny Warm day.

It is a good product and does a good job, but is expensive considering that it must be applied twice a year and sometimes three times a year to keep the floor free of mold spots. In the spring one may have to use two applications to kill mold spots and a good amount of scrubbing. I think it would a real benefit if you could develop a sealer that protects the floor after cleaning. So far, I think it is the best product on the market. W.F. Clark

Corte Clean was designed to be used at least twice yearly, Spring & Fall, as most composite decking manufacturers recommend. Sealers cost more time and money. Proactively using Corte Clean costs less time and money than sealers. Call us to discuss. (415) 924-9500 x 1

Good product, but hard to apply. I have found another product that is less expensive and easier to apply

It cleaned my composite deck very well but if I do it again, I would dilute it more than the package instructs. It's pretty aggressive at the specified strength and it can't be left too long before rinsing. Small areas must be done at a time.

Did a very good job of cleaning things off but you do have to scrub with a brush on a long handle and the mold tends to come back in the same season.

This is why the manufacturers of most composites recommend proactively cleaning at least twice yearly, Spring & Fall. Corte Clean was designed to be used in this fashion. Please see wwww.cortecean.com or call to discuss. (415) 924-9500 x 1

I thought it cleaned my deck well; however, product is lost because it is hard to dissolve. After following directions, each time I have used it, I have found quite a bit of undisolved Corte-Clean. That is the one negative I would mention, besides a rather high price, which has made me consider other alternatives. So I give it a good rating rather than very good.

Worked pretty well.Even after following directions, there was some white residue (streaking)that had to be hosed off. Overall, did a good cleaning job on the deck.

Thank you for the review. Corte Clean is designed to have a "white residue" until thoroughly rinsed. This is why the Corte Clean label directions state “When Corte Clean no longer turns dirty or discolored, it can be diluted & allowed to dry on weathered composite surfaces. Corte Clean is designed to clean any time it receives moisture. A white residue may remain until thoroughly rinsed.” The longer one keeps the "white residue" on the composites, the longer Corte Clean will continue to clean and keep composites clean. Are you aware that most composite manufacturers recommend proactively cleaning at LEAST twice per year, Spring and Fall? When proactively using Corte Clean, preferably before composites receive moisture and stains occur or saturate, Corte Clean should be used at the “up to 2.5 scoops for routine cleaning” per “1 gallon of water” strength saving money. One can apply Corte Clean proactively in any condition, day or night as long as the composites are thoroughly dry. Please call us if you wish to thoroughly discuss. (415) 924-9500 X 1

We loved this product it took the gray and green mold spots off our trex deck. Make sure you throughly read the directions. We did it on a cloudy day and it didn't work as well.

Thank you for the review. Exactily why the Corte Clean label directions state "Works best in direct sunlight"! Are you aware that most composite manufacturers recommend proactively cleaning at LEAST twice per year, Spring and Fall? This will generally prevent "gray and green mold spots" while saving TIME & MONEY. In the future, please consider proactively using Corte Clean as it was designed and intended, "at least twice yearly, spring & fall, or when stains appear". This is why the Corte Clean label directions state “When Corte Clean no longer turns dirty or discolored, it can be diluted & allowed to dry on weathered composite surfaces. Corte Clean is designed to clean any time it receives moisture. A white residue may remain until thoroughly rinsed. Thoroughly rinse composites prior to using.” The best way is to “thoroughly rinse” is to apply before it rains or snows and the natural moisture rinses it saving you time. While proactively Corte Cleaning doesn’t always have that instant cleaning effect, generally, the deck looks thoroughly clean after it receives moisture and this prevents deep stains that generally cost more time and money to thoroughly clean. Please call us if you wish to thoroughly discuss. (415) 924-9500 X 1

I have a Timber Tech deck that seems to attract mildew in all the little faux wood cracks and crevices. I knew it wasn't maintenance free but if I could go back and pick another decking material I would have opted for a more expensive and harder wood or more mildew resistent composite material. That said, I found Corte Clean a few years ago when I was on the Timer Tech site and they recommended it so I tried it. It works as promised and DOES do a fantastic job at removing the mildew. Takes some elbow grease to clean though and you need to work in sections if you have a large deck. Seems to help prevent the build up of mildew especially in areas of my deck where rain water just won't drain and has to rely on the sun and evaporation unless I get out and squeegee the area. Definitely worth the cost and it's pretty easy and not harsh to use. I don't have a photo but it would be difficult to see any before and after as I don't let the mildew get so bad as to see a "night and day" difference. You'd have to be on the deck to really see the cleaning results but that's what it's for...maintenance. Not to wait until it gets so bad that your deck is blackened by mildew. At that point you'd probably need professional services or at least a pressure washer before using this stuff....
