I placed my first online order with Edgars on the morning of 13 May before leaving for holiday, not realizing that Pargo deliveries could take up to 3 days. I called in quite stressed, and Jill was absolutely amazing. She listened, understood the situation, and kindly advised that she would try to prioritize the order, although she couldn’t promise anything.
The very next afternoon, on 14 May, Jill personally called me to let me know that my parcel was on its way to my selected Pargo point — and later that same afternoon I received my parcel.
Jill truly went over and above with her service, kindness, and professionalism. Thank you, Jill, for putting happiness back into online shopping and for making my holiday preparations so much less stressful. Edgars is lucky to have someone like you on their team.”

“My husband purchased me perfume as a birthday gift. After 20 minutes the perfume lost its smell. We took the perfume back. The lady informed us the perfume must be tested and that she can't confirm when we will have an answer. So a week later no perfume and the R 2000 we paid Edgars kept aswell. I'm using this brand for over 20 years never had a problem before. Now we have to wait for don't know how long before we get an answer. It is absolutely so unfair”
“The process of returning goods purchased online returned to store is a nightmare. I made 2 trips to the store. 1st time, i went after 17:00 they said the call centre is closed they needed to verify the purchase and method of payment with them. So i politely went home. Second time, i had an invoice, but still waited 30 mins for them trying to call the call centre for verification. Call centre never picked up. They had to eventually process the return with my invoice. Edgars online is forgetting that fact that people who purchase online are either too busy to go to the shops or just hate going to the shops. With that in mind, as that kind of a shopper i can not be expected to get to the shop before 17:00 or 13:00 on Saturday and in addition still be expected to wait for even 15 mins for verification. That is not acceptable. The process is frustrating.”
“I opened an account. Then they added stuff onto her account that i didn't asked for. After phoning them they told me agreed to it. When asked to play the recording you clearly hear they removed the section where i said i don't want anything added to my account. They are corrupted. Every month they promise to give credit but it never happens. They are one store that i will personally not recommend to anyone.”
“Sorry, $30 for two sausages and potato mash and sauce was really a $15 meal. Some greens at least would help. The sausage was of less quality . While plenty of potato mash was there to fill the plate, that was it. No balance in the meal at all. Won’t order again.”
“arassment & Invalid Charges — Ongoing Unresolved Dispute
I am lodging this complaint publicly as Edgars, RCS, and Edgars Club have failed to resolve a long-standing dispute regarding invalid charges on my account.
My Edgars Club Card was cancelled many years ago, yet unexplained fees continue to be reflected on my account. We have never been provided with the original invoice supporting these charges, and we fully dispute their validity.
Despite having kept the account up to date until recently, we are now being harassed with approximately five collection calls every single day from various agents — a clear violation of the Consumer Protection Act and National Credit Act.
I have repeatedly informed Edgars and RCS that this account is under investigation and that the unauthorised fees must be reversed. Once these incorrect charges are removed, our account will actually reflect a credit balance.
I am now forced to lodge this complaint publicly after numerous ignored emails and continued harassment. We demand that Edgars and RCS:
✅ Immediately cease all collection calls and harassment
✅ Conduct a full reconciliation of the account and reverse all invalid charges
✅ Provide written confirmation of the above actions
If this is not resolved without further delay, we will escalate the matter to the National Credit Regulator, the Consumer Goods & Services Ombud, and pursue further legal avenues.
This is an unacceptable way to treat loyal customers — I expect a prompt and professional resolution.”
“After 48 yrs with edgars it is now a nightmare trying to close a paid up account since rcs is involved. Numerous mails dinge help even with proof of zero balance. I would not recommend anyone to open an account with them.”
“Very very happy customer. I went to Edgar's canal walk to buy the ordinary skin care brand. The gent, his name I think os Lele assisted me. Telling me what to use. How to use the product. Writing down when to use in am or pm etc. Fantastic customer service from him. I started using the products the Friday evening after I bought it. Today is Monday. 3 days I have been using it and I notice a change in my skin. All thanks to Lele.”
“Not happy about the service I received today I went to do a refund I was told they don't have cash I must come back after an hour I did that after coming standing on a line again for my refund when I get to the cashier she told me they can't refund me I asked why she said she's going to ask the manager after she came back saying no we can't refund you and funny that sneakers 1 was on display and is not the right size for my son so now what must I do with the sneakers that is small and I can't be refunded if I knew Edgar's is 1 of that magulas shop I was not going to buy anything from them and is not the first time buying from Edgar's is hell because everytime you want to return they tell you stories I won't buy to that shop ever again the service is very poor”

“I have been going to the Edgar's in the financial district for about a year now. Those ladies really take care of their customers. Always friendly and helpful, also have helped me out of a few jams. I'm always their ordering for personal and company events. Everything is always perfect and delicious! Ebony, Khadjah (those are the names I could remember) but all the ladies are great!!!”

I pay Edgar's account up to the last cent in 2022. In 2024 Edgar's claim that I owe them I explained to different consultant who where very rude and unprofessional and now my is the debt collectors they said I owe insurance that I hope that if you don't pay an insurance it should lapse. Edgar's insurance it does not lapse but it accumulate I advise people they should stop insuring anything with Edgar's I'm so disappointed!!!”
