Ercol Bought 2 Forli sofas in a chenille like fabric from our local furniture retailer we were initially pleased with them but after less than 6 months noticed pulls bobbles on the main body of the sofas , the look and shine of the fabric which obviously attracted us had been lost as is now a flat grey , the contrast between the seat cushions and the back cushions is obvious , guests have even noticed ! We complained to the retailer who sent an apparent independent company to assess the sofas and the response from ercol that this was a natural process of the fabric called pilling , we obviously informed the retailer we were not happy with this and they now have arranged a second company who are coming to assess We have just had a second inspection and the person who came spent two hours removing bobbles and working on the sofa and told my husband that with higher end furniture it requires more upkeep ! Who in their right mind would buy a sofa that you needed to remove bobbles from All the time , surely the sofa shouldn’t be made in a material that would require this and if it was surely as a customer you should be made aware of this because who in their right mind would willingly spend £6000 on that furniture We will await the second judgement from ercol but expect it to be the same as before surely a reputable company such as ercol should not make a sofa out of a fabric which will pill in 6 months , this is clearly not fit for purpose , the sofas aren’t over used there’s only two people regularly using them , if you are making a sofa which wil be sat on surely this fabric is surely not suitable for that product Gutted as have spent so much on sofas that we have now had to buy throws to cover its dull bobbly covers

For the first time in 40 years we decided to treat ourselves to some expensive furniture and bought some Ercol Salina items. It has been very disappointing. The problem is the finish is not resilient. We have been very careful but stains appear which have been impossible to remove despite seeking advice. The wood does not appear properly sealed and marks go straight into the grain. I cannot recommend Ercol Salina as in our opinion it is sadly not fit for purpose and cannot withstand daily use.

I've had an Ercol cosenza sofa for 4 months. I bought it based on the high reputation Ercol carries but it has been a disaster. It has been used moderately and responsibly but I now find it is unusable because the disgracefully poor seat foam is permanently pitted and indented. Trying to get the situation resolved via the retailer but I bitterly regret this purchase. Ercol - hang your head in shame for ripping off your customers with such rubbish

I bought first an Ercol serroni sofa and frankly it creaked after several Homeserve visits they eventually decided it needed a new frame. At the same (before I had received the serroni) I ordered a noto recliner from a different store. Have also had nothing but problems, wont go into the whole story, but after 11months they have just delivered a brand new noto on inspection chairarm wood is split, once again this needs to be repaired, seems they are taking an arm off first chair and putting it on second. Ercol do not communicate with customers as they say our contract is with the store from which they were purchased. In my opinion. They have NO QUALITY CONTROL. whatsoever and from 22nd October 2021 .I am expected to pay full price for two secondhand items from Ercol as they do not want to know about my problem. And have asked one of the stores if I am very fussy. Both stores have been helpful but their hands are tied apparently. Ercol customer service is nil.

We ordered 5 pieces of bedroom furniture from the Ercol Teramo range. We were given a lead time of about 14 weeks so we were very pleased when the order was ready to be dispatched much earlier. The items were very well packed but when it was all unpacked 3 of the items weredamaged/faulty. The bedside cabinets were perfect. The bed had a large splinter of wood loose on the frame and both of the chests had faults, several of the handles had not been fitted level and the wood on the main frame above the drawers was very rough and clothes would catch on them. The faults were reported to Barker and Stonehouse who organised an engineer to come and inspect the furniture. He came and agreed on the faults and said the furnniture was not up to standard. Barker and Stonehouse offered compensation or replacement of all items. We accepted compensation for the bed as we could rub the wood down ourselves and it would not be noticeable when the bed was made up. We asked for the 2 chests of drawers to be replaced. They turned up about 6 weeks later but were still.faulty so In the end we asked for new handles to be sent and took compensation to keep the 2nd set of chests knowing that we could sort of rectify the faults ourselves and couldn't be bothered to wait for another set to arrive (as it could be faulty). Eventually after 2 attempts Ercol managed to send some new handles (3 of them were faulty too). We really love the furniture but we were very disappointed in the quality of the workmanship and the efficiency of Ercol.

Our Marinello sofas have seat cushions that squashed and creased within the first 10 minutes of use. They were inspected and found to be unsatisfactory (ie very poor quality). We are currently awaiting replacement inners but having read so many negative reports are dreading the replacements being just the same. We have ourselves looked inside many different sofa cushions in various stores and ercol really do seem to have the poorest quality foam, ie it can be squeezed to nothing by one old lady with arthritic hands!!!! We are so, so disappointed. Hopefully ercol will do something positive to improve the cushion inners on their sofas.

Don't buy an Ercol sofa. Biggest mistake we ever made. We previously had 2 Alston sofas which were extremely comfortable. Unfortunately they had to be replaced as they didn't fit our new house. We really liked the look of the Ercol sofa and thought we would treat ourselves. We have wasted good money. The sofas took twice the length of time to arrive as originally quoted. On arrival it was very obvious that the one sofa had very poor quality sofa cushions. We complained to our retailer, Arthur Llewellyn Jenkins. They contacted Ercol who agreed the wrong foam had been used. We have waited 14 weeks for replacement cushions. During that time the sofa was too uncomfortable to sit on. Also during that time the other sofa cushions have settled & now that soda is uncomfortable. We are now going to have to buy better quality cushions costing £500. Really not happy & go only recommend you don't buy Ercol.

We ordered and paid for a dining table and 6 chairs in full, from Lee Longlands, on 5th January 2020. It’s now the 18th April and we’re still waiting. We even phoned Ercol direct to find out how long we would have to wait for delivery. I am 65 and my husband is 74 and we’ve been eating from a picnic table and 2 odd chairs since we moved house in mid December. Ercol didn’t seem at all bothered and COVID seems to give them a perfect excuse for appalling service. Unlike John Lewis which has delivered everything we’ve ordered with no problems at all!

We bought an Ercol Novara Snuggler from Furniture Village and after a couple of months the seat and back cushions were sagging badly such that the Snuggler looked old and worn. We complained to Furniture Village who arranged for inspections to be carried out, one by Ecomaster and the other by Homeserve; both reported that there was “no manufacturing fault” and that the problem was due to “natural settlement”. They simply ignored the actual appearance of the seat! In our view this “natural settlement” was not acceptable so we arranged for two independent inspections which confirmed that the cushion interiors were inadequate and had thus failed, i.e. that it was in fact a manufacturing fault. As Furniture Village proved to be of no help, we are now pursuing this issue with Ercol themselves but in the meantime, we would not recommend that anyone buys a Snuggler

We bought a Gela Sofa and Snuggler. Lovely look but flimsy build standard - and not what I'm used to from Ercol. After a few weeks use it became evident that the Snuggler has no postural support at all, and I developed back pain. Ercol and the retailer have refused to take it back as I was outside their respective returns policy windows... I Strongly advise you to avoid this product range.
