The brief wasn't straightforward, given our travel dates were dictated to us by our eldest's work placement in Bangalore ... so our inaugural Indian trip - 'out of season, likely to be VERY HOT, HUMID and at times very rainy, en famille' - was GO and what an experience Far & Wild lined up for us, thank you.
Seems like a colourful, vivid, brilliant dream when I look back now, 5 days in being back to normal, as it were.
It was an exacting/full on itinerary, as requested, "go go go" - we wanted a taste of everything and boy our party (nuclear family, 2 sons 15 and 20) got it all, from lawn tennis, participating in a Temple service, fort & city palace visiting in Jaipur to zipping across the fort, old town walking tour and fine dining in Jodhpur - all whilst staying in the Palace still inhabited by the Maharaja himself (peacocks galore!). How we'll get used to the proportions of our own home again I'll never know ;)
In our 2 weeks on the road in Rajasthan (our driver became like family - weaving in btw potholes, cows and dogs with complete dexterity!) we fitted in kayaking and massages in Chhatrasagar; we kite flew, cooked up our own chicken masala and Prata flatbread from scratch, as well as trying Chai & Kachori in Jaipur's Pink City; we enjoyed a private screening of Octopussy in the Aravali Hills (+ cycling & the amazing Spa) before staying 007 style at the Taj Lake Palace itself, in Udaipur - all whilst meeting extraordinary people along the way - levels of welcome and service were exceptional.
The sights, the sounds, the food! Everything so very different to our everyday in Northern Ireland and London BUT knowing Far & Wild were never more than a WhatsApp away (usually to seek guidance on our tipping practices!) was hugely reassuring. The itinerary suggested hit all the high points, Rajasthan bucket list firmly ticked - thank you.
Their partners on the ground in India were without fault: our guides were fantastic (& very understanding when we asked to shorten certain aspects or retire for a cold drink, the 38 degrees and humidity combined were A LOT - we thought we knew what 'monsoon season' would entail!); our driver brilliant; all hotels we stayed in were beautifully appointed, all very different - we rated the RAAS boutique offering + staff very highly - always such genuine welcomes and everything beautifully appointed: amazing restorations / renovations of historic buildings, super stylish whilst being comfortable and welcoming. RAAS bars were standout and we enjoyed "craic" with the bar men whilst trying their extensive lists of cocktails and mocktails.
I'd been warned by colleagues, be ready for nothing to run to time in India ... That was most certainly not the case on our Far & Wild arranged holiday, that's for sure - local team checked in regularly to make sure we were all keeping well and not once did we experience a logistical hiccup. The internal flights arranged for us Bangalore - Rajasthan return would put UK budget carriers to shame - super well organised boarding, warm welcomes, ZERO luggage hassles, ran to time - even a pretty tight connection was no issue - and great leg room.
Food in all establishments we ate in was top notch, super flavoursome - when we needed less spicy, for a change, our hosts couldn't have been more accommodating. Youngest a convert and now disappointed we're not rustling up Indian breakfasts daily!
We ended our trip in Bangalore - again Far & Wild on hand to advise. So very different from Rajasthan, a taste of city centre living was cherry on topped by a superbly entertaining round of golf at the Bangalore Golf Club, caddies galore.
A fortnight firmly out of our BAU, with our son, was beautifully curated for us by the team at Far & Wild - we couldn't have asked for more - special shout outs to MD Ali and Ops Manager Louise, thank you - it's not often our 20 and 15 yr old get that quality time together, ditto the 4 of us enjoying each other's company and trying new things together - it was magical!
Plenty of Kingfishers enjoyed + hands of cards, just the way we like it, looking out over amazing Indian scenery. Bliss!”

“Simply cannot praise Far and Wild highly enough. We began planning our visit to Saint Helena Island around a year in advance and we were lucky enough to have Tamara Jack as our main contact. All through the process Tamara was right there for us, answering our silly questions, reassuring us about safety in Johannesburg and travel to such a remote location. Everything Tamara organised happened at the right time and in the right place, a couple of tours in Joburg, Airlink flights to St Helena and a week in the care of Aaron's Adventures.
High praise for Ilios, who met us as appointed and looked after us in Joburg, and especially to Aaron and Julie who made us feel like friends, not customers, and couldn't have been more flexible and reliable. Also Airlink, who looked after us so well on what could have been a long boring flight with plenty food and drinks to keep us occupied.
And finally, when our return flight was cancelled due to bad weather we were stranded for an extra two days on the island. By the time the hotel told us on the Saturday morning that the flight was cancelled Far and Wild's Ruth Miller had already been in touch to make sure we were able to stay and that our accommodation in Joburg was rearranged. Very impressive service, on such a remote island where international communications can be patchy.
In summary, huge thanks to Tamara for the arrangements, Louise for looking after the finances and Ruth for making sure we were safe and secure when stranded, and to all the unsung staff in the back office. We won't hesitate to recommend Far and Wild to friends and family, and we'll certainly include you in our own future plans.”

“We had a very positive experience with Far & Wild, we were introduced by "Responsible Travel" and were fairly late in booking our holiday to the Pantanal in Brazil so had to organise quickly. They were very responsive and Amanda who organised our booking very quickly grasped that we wanted an adventure holiday with lots of content and came up with a winning formula for us. When Amanda was on leave running a marathon, she handed over well and one of the directors, Ben took over to finalise. The itinerary prepared by Summer was the most thorough and detailed that we have ever experienced. The end result is we have some unforgettable photos of Jaguars, Anteaters, Armadillos and many more that we have seen for the first time in their natural habitat. The main hotel in northern Pantanal - Araras - is highly recommended. The activities in Bonito (Rio da Prata, and the Buraco das Araras) also highly recommended.”

“We are so blessed to have found Far and Wild, and to have the expertise of Ruth to help plan our dream honeymoon in Kenya. My wife and I knew we wanted to go on safari, as well as add a beach vacation portion, but that was really all we knew. I found Far and Wild through some research and began to discuss our itinerary with Ruth. We met over zoom to discuss travel time of the year, itinerary preferences, price, what we thought we couldn’t live without or other parts we didn’t have strong preference over, etc. Ruth came back with exactly what we were looking for, and we were able to tweak minor details as needed. We ultimately decided to go with Far and Wild as Ruth helped make the process easy and the rest of the team including Louise were very communicative and pleasant. We also appreciate the fact that they help to support global efforts to the environment and use local companies while in country.
We spent two weeks in Kenya traveling between safari lodges by bush plane and relaxing on the beach for the second week. We spent time in Samburu and Naboisho Conservancies. The lodges were absolutely stunning, the food was excellent and the staff were extremely caring and accommodating. Our first lodge, Saruni Samburu Basecamp, was the most magnificent place we’ve ever stayed! We saw each animal on our bucket list and more, and couldn’t have been happier with our safari experience! (Hot air balloon at sunrise is a must)
We then spent 5 nights in Diani Beach, which was well needed after a dozen game drives. The beach and hotel were beautiful and again the staff were exceptional.
Overall, we had the honeymoon of a lifetime and we are so thankful to Ruth and the Far and Wild team for everything they did to make it happen. We are truly so grateful for our incredible trip. We highly recommend Far and Wild, and will be personally recommending them to friends and family. The next time we need help with a trip, we’ll be emailing Far and Wild!”

“I have recently returned from a three week trip to Vietnam organised by Far and Wild which was wonderful.
Far and Wild were the only company who could incorporate all my itinerary into the trip. I think this is in part due to their travel advisors specialising in certain regions of the world and developing good relationships with local travel companies.
I also gave them a standard of accommodation I wanted and they met that and some.
I opted for personal guides on certain sections of the trip who were knowledgable and personable and really added to our enjoyment.
The transportation between destinations, which included trains, planes and automobiles, was seamless.
The local agents employed by them also dealt with cancelled flights and issues on the ground promptly and at no cost.

We were a group of 8 friends - 4 couples. The vans used for our private excursions were very good and spacious
All the ground arrangements were as planned … the guides were very good - their English and knowledge was amazing. They made sure we had a good time. The picnic lunches were served in great locations with fabulous views and setup with tables and table cloths!
We had 4 internal flights and the guides always made sure we were checked in with our luggage before they left us
