“Found generally that tickets were cheaper with First Hull Trains than other East Coast rail providers between Doncaster/Retford and London (e.g. Virgin Trains East Coast) but that journey times were longer and the quality of the carriages/seating/luggage space did not compare with Virgin Trains. I also like that Virgin Trains East Coast are part of the Nectar programme of loyalty points which generally encourages me to book trains via them as they are quicker and offer points although I much preferred the original East Coast Rewards programme when they had the contract for the line as I felt this rewarded loyalty better. If First Hull Trains could offer a loyalty scheme this would certainly encourage me to book more tickets.”
“I don't like your policy on changing tickets, it is too restrictive and not customer friendly. I had purchased an advanced adult ticket that needed a railcard but when I need to upgrade that ticket to a normal adult ticket (without a railcard) I was told I would have to purchase another ticket. To change the ticket the admin costs would be greater than the value of the ticket. The ticket I had to purchase was double the cost of the normal adult ticket I had purchased so not at all happy”
“Generally pleased & happy to use Hull Trains. Think the Service on the return journey was a little under Par with the staff more intent on having a ' chin wag ' then looking after what was a quiet 1st class carriage. Also overall things becoming a little tired looking & needing refurbished”
“I always use Hull Trains website when planning a trip in England, because I can be sure the times and tickets will be reliable .
My only difficulty is that I have a UK bank account and billing address but spend a lot of time in Europe. This means that when I´m planning to go to England and use the trains there I would like to be able to have the tickets sent to another address. This service is not available so I have to arrange for the tickets to be sent to my billing address and the ask for them to be forwarded to me.
This is the only problem.
Thank you,
Kate”
“Bought tickets online and picked them up using the automated machine at the station with no problem, train was on time, clean and the staff were friendly.”
“Hull Trains provide an excellent direct service to Hull. In my experience they are usually always on time. One little that could improve is more comfy seats, not that it ever puts me off from booking with them :)”
“A great service - very convenient when travelling from Hull to London, with the benefit of free WiFi so possible to do productive work on the journey.”
“I never fail to be impressed with hull trains from staff to reliability everything is always first class , I recently travelled with virgin trains and the service didn't even come close”
“I have travelled on over 150 trains this year including most operators around the UK and I can only give praise to Hull Trains - both in first class and economy the service is friendly and polite.
The trains are by far the cleanest.
A credit to the region”
