Good insurance, cheapest option for young drivers. Quick to respond to emails/queries

Great for a cheap insurance however the 'useage' part of the app is all over then place, messing up my score, would recommend only to build your no claims and a cheap insurance for year 1.

Very good for cheap insurance but the black box is an issue. I purposely chose a policy WITHOUT a curfew on it due to working funny hours over christmas ( early starts/ late finish ) and chose the option to have limited miles instead, knowing myself that i wasn't going to drive miles away in my first year. Yet on my dashboard on the app i'm going into the red and getting - points because i'm driving after 10/11 pm or before 6 am and being put down for the short journeys from work to my house.. ( around 2 miles.) also been told by other people that having your revs over 3000 could result in penalisation. has also put me down for excessive speeding when i know i haven't been.

In a nutshell, Carrot is great if you're looking for cheap first-year insurance but don't expect the rewards. There's no doubt that Carrot offers exceptional black-box insurance premiums (as of 15/2/17). That said, the black box they have installed is extremely sensitive and it seems their scoring system for Speed, Smoothness and Usage is a little odd. A score of -10/10 for speed, +10/10 for Smoothness and +10/10 for Usage will result in an average score of 0. How does that work? This means if the box thinks you're speeding (often not the case) then one emergency stop due to someone else's bad driving means you get a negative score. Despite a decent quarter of driving on my part, I received no rewards.

Cheap to insure but the blackbox isn't the best as it says I was speeding when I know I didn't & the "usage" is quite ineffective. The customer services could do with some improvements too.

Company that has rude customer service if you speak quiet and the black box is faulty recording false readings due to GPS error, the box has bad usage and the prices are extortionate for some customers, apart from that the rewarding side of things is decent and that's about it.( all can be improved then won't be so bad)

Had no problems with this insurance company, all that's wrong is I've been waiting 2 weeks for my first reward quarter and I've still not received it.

The mobile app is good and really helps you know how you are driving but constantly getting marked down on usage for making multiple journeys a day is bad, lowering the percentage discount you can get for next year, It was easy to take a policy out with carrot and the staff was helpful but I wouldn't recommend anyone because of the usage marks lowering cash rewards and discounts

Went with carrot as cheapest 1st insurance for my son, only been 3 weeks & had 3 error readings on the dashboard. Called twice & waiting for phone call back from them to discuss.

The rewards system is pretty good. Only thing I feel is not that great is the iBox, it sometimes reads that I've been driving poorly but I drive the same style every time I drive. Other than that it's great!

I am not entirely impressed with the conditions set by Carrot. Although Carrot claim there is no curfew, there may as well be. For driving after 11pm, they will score you *-10* for usage. The amount of money you are due to get back is reduced considerably and your rating goes down to 6, and it takes plentiful journey to get back up. This is not made clear before you sign the contract and had it been, then i'd have chosen a policy with someone else. What if i worked night shifts? What if i went to the gym after 11pm? What if I had to go out after 11pm on a daily basis? It's just ridiculous. It's a basically a curfew. Ingenie don't do this to you. On a slightly more positive note, the app is good.

I like the i box deal. It would be 5 stars BUT, the usage is so bad, you get a car for long journeys and I don't see how you can be marked down for doing long journeys, fair enough if you're driving like a manic! But my speed and smoothness is 10/10 most of the time. Its the usage letting me down!

Is a good company and cheapest out there but the box I have had installed has glitches. I've driven just 10 miles down a 30 and apparently I was doing 95? And apparently driven for 12 hours this has affected my score big time and now in negatives

Their service has been helpful and they tend to reply quick to queries. They have been clear with any information that I asked of them. The reward card scheme is motivating for better driving. However, they've been really inaccurate with my score and have altered it without me driving. It just so happens that my score increased the day after my first quarter and I hadn't even driven.
