I think it is really good that you can see your driving score through the app, however even though 'there is no curfew', your driving score lowers dramatically after driving past 11pm. Other than that, helpful and you earn money back from driving well. I believe you should earn more money back though as £37 is nothing compared to the actual price of the policy.

Not really had any problems so far although they take forever to answer the phone, feel slightly tricked however the initial advert said nothing about curfew with black box, anything past 10 for me makes my score lower but what can you do

Im writing this review pros and cons. Pro - they fit my black box and it hadn't been working for 2 months they phoned me to inform and didn't cancel my insurance. Cons - they never answer the phone on time, they took two months to actually tell me my black box wasn't working, they changed their minds 3 times either i get insurance or not. Anyway so far they have been fine, nothing has went wrong the dashboard app os working my black box is fine and as much as i was p***ed off at the start i would say if you want to try insure yourself go ahead but the honest truth cheap isn't always they best way to go

you can get rewards by better driving - cash back rewards is always a bonus... although driving scores are not always accurate, very volatile, some times will give you good scores for your driving, and for the same driving, other times will scored badly, very random sometimes. also get scored badly for driving on bumpy surfaces when its not your fault. should remove the more than 7 journeys rule.

After a shaky start of not being able to make contact by telephone, and a breakdown service that was not recorded on their system anywhere it did get better. Received a £50 reward after first quarter however I then received an email that said they had tried unsuccessfully to contact me, not sure how as the email to say they were cancelling my insurance due to not supplying a copy of my licence found me just fine as did the reply when they confirmed they had got it!

I took out a policy with Carrot as they were much cheaper than competitors with seemingly less downsides i.e curfews etc. There are very long waits to get through to Customer Support however I have found the advisers I spoke with to be very helpful and polite. I do think it is a little devious of Carrot to advertise that there are no curfews, however you will be severely marked down on your "Usage" score for driving late at night. Overall, I would recommend Carrot to new drivers as the savings are impressive (£700+ compared to non-black box) however I doubt I will renew with them at the end of the policy year as I find their scoring of driving to be intrusive and overall rather inaccurate.

It's good but smoothness of driving goes mental when you go over a speed bump and I've been given a speeding warning on a road that I know is not 20mph but 30mph so up date to road speed limits is need for this insurer.

Carrot is cheap and reliable. It is something for young drivers to benefit off conpared to other insurance companies. The customer service isnt great and I had an issue with the dashboard where it was recording the wrong times on the wrong days. That was sorted quickly but was on the phone for about an hour. Dashboard is a good feature besides the fact they penalise you for using your car.

I've almost done my full year with them and not had too many problems. The thing I learned is that the black box isn't the best thing on properly reviewing your driving, I only know this because most of the time it says on the online dashboard that my acceleration is +10, I don't think the black box knows what messing about with your mates at 5 in the morning wheel spinning and randomly putting on your handbrake going 60mph. The box got me going 46mph in a 30 zone and the next day I got a message saying I went over 50% of the speed limit and if I get another warning my policy will be cancelled, i now just stick under the 50% limit. The photos of my licence I sent in didn't get checked properly because they would have realised that I haven't actually had a full licence for 2 years in the first place. The company is justhe a big joke but I can't complain about the customer service because when dealing with them on the phone I had a decent experience to be fair.

Good quote, black box was fitted with no problems, the app is good, I like to see my scores and excited about the potential cash back I am going to recieve also! Dislike that if you go out between 11-5am that it effects your score as I have to be out that late sometimes due to work! Also the usage goes down significantly a lot if you make more than like 2 journeys in the car which is not great! Takes a long time to get through to the customer service team and when I did she was very unhelpful and rude so not too happy about that, only a month in so we shall see how I go :)

As a 19 year old who works 2-10 and still attempts to have a social life outside of work, when I finish at 10 pm I have one hour to do what I like and then get home before my driving score decreases due to 'unsocial' hours. Get rid of the unsocial hours and this would be a great company to have a black box insurance company

Took a couple of weeks to finally have my telematics box fitted, waited in to then be told it had to be rearranged as there was no engineer in tge area and then when it was fitted I had to phone multiple times to be told that my box was going to be fitted in the afternoon after waiting in all morning when it was booked for the morning.

As a first time driver this worked out to be the cheapest option with a £300 price drop. Had to wait 2 weeks for the box to be installed, but they only took about 30 mins overall to install. The box itself I find to be sometimes inaccurate where I know I've driven for a certain period of time but the box says differently. They are very harsh with the rules too, smoothness is very sensitive and I still have no idea why I'm loosing points on usage.

It's a high price considering but the app is great to keep track of your driving. The only issue is getting hold of them to talk to and speed and smoothness is also a big deal they score you very low even for first time drivers which is unfair.

The setting up and box installation was great but after that, you just cannot get a response to your queries. The box is quite inaccurate and states it's being driven when it's not. The score goes down quite a lot with usage but the score doesn't tie in with how the policy states it works - therefore your score is affected incorrectly
