Like the app and how I can check my driving score, didn't apply for the carrot card and was told my rewards could be paid into my account? STILL WAITING! Not good!

I am happy with my insurance, although a bit expensive, but really unhappy with how long it took for my carrot card to come through

Cheapest on insurance market

Carrot is the cheapest insurance I've found for new drivers like myself. The only thing I'd critisize is I get negative driving scores for the times I drive when I stated it in my policy , other than that thumbs up!

They take ages to give you your quarterly rewards but other than that it's a good well priced insurance company.

Went with carrot insurance because it was cheaper than any other quote. I also felt being a new driver having a box monitoring my driving would prevent be from developing bad habits and to drive less aggressively, which has worked. However something to be aware of with black box insurance I have discovered is how it handles speed. I have found myself focusing too much on speed rather than just maintaining speed with traffic around me which would be safer allowing more focus on hazard perception. Have tried just maintaining speed a few times with traffic around me only to receive a negative score for speed which has caused the focus on speed. Also overestimate your mileage as there seems to be some discrepancy between how much mileage the box thinks you have covered vs the car odometer. Sometimes it thinks you've covered more and sometimes it thinks you've done less than the odometer reading. Another point I think I need to make is about commuting. When I was quoted for the policy I declared the car would also be used for commuting, therefore car would be used during morning and afternoon rush hours which increased the cost of the policy. However driving at these times still negatively impacts usage score, seems a bit unfair to punish me for using my car at times I have declared it will be used for when taking out the policy and paid more for. To summarize, Carrot is great if your young and looking for cheaper policy, however if you live in an area where it is common to drive slightly over speed limits or you want to use for daily commuting you may want to consider a normal policy.

Good overall service but 'usage' is a joke. I get different scores each day, even if at the same time of day as the previous day before and the same journey time and it seems to constantly bring my score down. It says usage is for the time of day but it's not very consistent when it rates on this. Also, if you drive in rush hour or peak times the score goes down most of the time, no matter how well you drive, which is a con, as I have to drive during those times most days. Would be better if 'usgae' was more consistent. That being said, it was quick to set up, and I like being able to keep track of driving scores etc. Excited for money back reward.

taking out the insurance initially was easy and quick however after taking out the insurance there has been a few issues which are staring to get on my nervous a lot especially after being told one thing by customer services then receiving letters and emails with the complete opposite wrote on them. overall though not a bad company just a few errors that need correcting or tightening up

I had a box fitted after buying an old cheap car which I couldn't get insured anywhere, this was the cheapest option. After nearly 2 years of driving I thought I would hate it but you don't even notice and I love the so to check my scores! And the cash rewards are a nice bonus getting abit of money back

Not as bad as I thought it would be, however I do think the score seems to be a random pick and the usage score is annoying. Other then that, I'm into my second month and it's not so bad having a black box after all.

This is the second insurance company I've been with and as a teenager I looove driving as I haven't been driving long. My point is that it's ridiculous how much you have to pay to be able to drive more miles but I suppose that's a way for them to get huge amounts of money. I sometimes feel like I should get the bus so I don't go over my miles but then what's the point of having a car lol. Also, the fact that you get a low score on usage when you drive after 11pm was never mentioned anywhere. But on the bright side I love how the app tells you about your speed smoothness and usage, plus they're not very strict if you sometimes go over the speed limit which we all do... And the cash rewards make you wanna drive well!

I have found Carrot to be an okay company this far however, I have had a few minor problems with them. Firstly when arranging my black box to be installed I received the confirmation text which had a different time and date to which I had agreed on the phone with one of the engineers, this problem was quickly sorted out by giving Carrot a call. Another problem I have had and from reading other reviews a lot of other customers have had the same problem, the Carrot Card. The Carrot Card takes a very long time to arrive after your first quarter as it almost took 2 months for mine to arrive. Another bad point about this company is the waiting time to speak to an actual person on the telephone. Apart from the above I have had no other problems with my insurance.

It's average really, sometimes if I drive more than around 5/6 small journeys I get marked down for usage and the score drops right down and it will take many scores of 10 to get it up even a little. Seems to be a lot easier to lower the score than it is to raise it which is annoying.

Took out the insurance for my son at Christmas. Not made aware of him being 'penalised' for night-time driving, which he does the most of. Not had carrot awards yet but, because of a delay in the process, my son has received a pizza voucher as a goodwill gesture. Would like the app to tell us a bit more about why they have been marked down on their driving and the scoring on it does not seem consistent from one day to the next. I have had no reason to contact the call centre yet and, looking at others feedback, I hope I don't have to!
