Firstly, the service in which you provide is very efficient and extremely helpful. Secondly the apps in which allow you to review your driving style score is good as it allows you to make improvements, however on that note I wish as a customer I was made more aware of what the driving was tested on. When buying my insurance with carrot it was only bought to my attention that my driving score was tested on keeping to the speed limits not other factors such as smoothness. This is very irritating as my smoothness score is always very low due to the surfaces of the road which I drive on which I cannot help as a result my score is always lowered. My score remains at round 6-7 and for the 3 months being with this insurance I haven't abused the speed once so this does make me consider finding other insurers. Lastly, I still have not recieved my carrot insurance card. Shannon bryant

Carrot insurance was the cheapest insurance for a first time driver like myself. The only thing I am unsure about with carrot is te smoothness but accept from that they are a good insurer.

it's good with the quote but I don't like the fact we need to have an installed box. I hope they remove the box soon from the policy. Even though it's good to control the speed but can be very irritating at some point.

thought company was good but when received an email saying you would get £100 to right a review and then once good review put on received another email saying the £100 was an error and that just get put into a prize draw. So they now have good reviews on due to this. Quite devious I thought. Shame as everything else with company good but now having doubts.

It's insurance. There is nothing special about this particular company. It was just the cheapest price on a comparison website. I'm a 23 year old lorry driver and yet my insurance was not much cheaper than my 18 year old air head cousin, why?

average experience with no particularly different features which make it stand out from the crowd.

This is my first insurance company, It is telematics and is said to come without any limits however read the contact because you do get scored and although there are no limits there are clauses which lower your score's such as driving at night, in Rush hour and more than 7 journeys a day, They do give you cash back based on a good score as well as let you know what discount to expect the following year the lower your score the less discount you get and less you are given back however the better your score the more discount / cash back you get, Since having the telematics box i have noticed things that effect your score that do not reflect on your driving the main thing been pot holes, speed bumps basically just the overall condition of the road surface will lower your smoothness score also usage if you use your car for short journeys or do not have regular rests on longer journeys your usage score will go down again not reflective of your driving they also monitor speed which is better reflection of your driving , that covers the three areas they monitor you on. I have also found that when speaking to them they are not consistent, I have read my policy which i think states that i can not transfer any no claims i earn but when asking over the phone they clearly state that i can transfer any no claims i get with them. Would i recommend them to insure you ? well i am over 25 and to be honest i have only been with them for 4 weeks and i already wish i had paid the extra £400 that it was not to have the telematics box, my position is that i am a window cleaner and make many small journeys and the roads near me are in rubbish condition which ruin my score the other factor of not knowing if i will get my no claims discount or not at the end of the year leave me in a position where i would ever recommend telematics insurance to anyone , it is quite frankly a clever insurance con that can leave you paying more in the long term and i personally will be looking for a new insurer once i have the down payment available. It may be worth mentioning here that my current score is +7.2 which i am told is a very good score baring in mind that the best score possible is +10 which according to the company no one achieves this also be wary of reviews i only gave my honest opinion here because they are offering £100 to write a review, i just now wonder how many thought they had to give a really positive review to get the cash. My review is based on been with them for 4 weeks and thinking into the future how this will effect my premiums its as honest i see it and i hope it goes some way to helping you pick your insurer. Black box not for me but may be for you

Money rewards are a great idea and I love the app! However considering I live somewhere surrounded with speed bumps it lowers my score which I find unfair as there is obviously nothing I can do about it... Also carrot makes a big statement about how there is no curfew at night however if you're driving past 11 at night a significant amount of money is taken I lost 20 pounds in one night !! This in essence is a curfew as I now wont drive my car past 11

I went with carrot as it was the cheapest, since then I have tried to get hold of customer services via email and phone and just get passed around and put on hold so that has to be the one bad thing about them, other than that they are good apart from 2 occasions when the box has given incorrect feedback!

I went with Carrot because it was the cheapest I could find at the time for the sort of cover that I wanted. Having said that I still feel that the premium was far too high. I haven't seen any benefits from the Rewards scheme yet and I don't understand how it works so it can't be that brilliant.

Good value car insurance! I have struggled with customer service a few times when i have tried to update details and their system was down Been told on a few occasions i would receive a telephone call back and havent. However had no other issues and enjoy the driving score app and have just received my first cash reward.

Insurance is the cheapest around but customer service isn't great. Got an email about speeding even though I stuck to the limits and when I emailed to ask for more information I did not get a response.

This was one of the cheapest insurers I found. The app helps me keep an eye on how well I'm doing. But the box doesn't take into consideration how new you are to driving or if you haven't driven for a few years. New driver or someone who hasn't driven for a few years will not be smooth on the gear change/ hill starts or breaking so your score will always be low. I find that when I feel I haven't driven smoother and better my score is worse than if I've had a bad drive. I don't feel the scores are very well done and I feel it really makes you feel frustrated. I try to improve and have improved since I have been driving again but my scores haven't really changed. The cash reward is harder to get the further into the policy you get, a score of +5 on your first quarter will earn you £20 but a +5 on your second quarter will only earn you £14. I understand that they want you to improve to get better rewards but it's not as easy as it sounds. I drive the roads daily and it's frustrating when you get a bad score when you know you have driven very smoothly, at a good time of day and have stayed at the speed limits. You also can't find out where on your route that you go wrong and so you can't attempt to improve if a certain road seems to be causing you to have a lower score. A box is a lot of pressure and I found that at first I spent most of my time worrying about if I'm doing things right for the box and not really concentrating on actually driving. I would check my score after every drive, and now i don't really think about it. The scoring system isn't really reflecting your actual driving, on a few occasions I have had to break slightly harder because people have pulled out of roads infront of me, my score is affected but the fault was not my own. This also makes you frustrated with the box and the way it works. In many ways the box is an advantage but in many ways it isn't. I would recommend the box to new drivers but not those who have had a few years experience, it's not helpful to everyone. The only advantage is a low insurance quote for the first year, if you get bad scores your insurance will go up. It's a good idea to get you your first years no claims but after that I would go through a normal insurer.
