"First Alternative car insurance tried to call them about a accident in February as I was on Holiday i couldn\u2019t ring them until 1\/3\/2024 finally got through to them after 2 hrs waiting told them about the accident gave them all the details after a a couple of weeks was told my car was a write off without looking at the car still waiting for claim money told very busy with lots of Accidents will get sorted soon "

"It is almost impossible to contact First Alternative. If you want to talk to a real person forget it. I had to make three vehicle changes in two weeks. You should be able to do this on line but the service is not available. You have to go through the chat which takes God knows how long just to get connected to an advisor. After making the changes I was charged an admin fee. First one was \u00a326 followed by two further fees of \u00a367.00 each. According to this company my premium for my changed vehicle had increased by \u00a319 but I had to pay \u00a3160 to cover there costs. The cost of cover was reasonable but the extortionate admin fees to make changes and lack of access makes it hard to recommend this company. "

I needed to advise a change of registration number and nothing else... I tried on-line but was prompted to telephone for "instant cover" - after waiting an age finally got to speak to a human who made me go thought the whole authentication process yet again and then asked me dozens of irrelevant questions - when I asked what the admin charge would be the operator avoided the question but finally after my persistence told me the charge was £130 - after lengthy BS finally said it would be cheaper if I did it on-line !!!! I then went back a did it online, got instant cover and NO CHARGE. What should have been very simple and taken minutes took me all morning and a great deal of unnecessary stress. Be very wary of what you say and check the implications before committing.

"Absolutely diabolical, not offered any curtosy car have to pay extra for that just expensive compared to other insurance companies who offer a lot more for less. Wouldn\u2019t bother with first alternative again. "

"The price for a new car to take over my existing vehicle with only 2 months insurance left to pay was too high compared with elsewhere. I asked how much to cancel and was told it wouldn't cost anything. (on the phone recorded calls) Only to receive an email few days later saying I owe money. Having known this I wouldn't have cancelled the policy lost a full yrs no claims and ended up paying for it. Very unfair poor service. "

Price was ok but now when you try to contact theme to make an ammendment they don't answer the phones, email them it states 72 hours to get a reply then when I get a reply it says we are busy please call. I'm now calling and to NO Suprise at 7 minutes past 8am your really busy. What a rubbish service. Will never use again.
