If this post saves just one mother the hassle we have endured with this company, then I have done my job. This company is an online company, however its questions are limited. So you find once you have accepted its quote you are bombarded with emails asking for more information, documentation. More documentation. Oh that was the wrong document we asked for, and on and on it goes. You ring to check they have everything they need, get assured they have, then get a letter threatening cancellation because they don't have all they need. You book a date for the black box to get fitted, to find they have sent the wrong one out. They then threaten cancellation because you have ran out of time to get the box fitted. You spend hours on the phone sorting out their issues. Eventually just as you think you have done everything they ask for, they tell you they are cancelling your insurance because your car has a black roof and they consider this a modification. Cheaper is not better! They cancell at the drop of a hat and no one wants the fear of their child driving around in an uninsured car, because the company insuring it doesn't like the colour of its interiour! It has been a month long rollercoaster of emotions. I would not insure the local rat with this company. Save yourself the time and hassle and go anywhere else.

There is definitely something wrong with the ‘cornering’ data collection and reporting. I gave my son a hard time and he suggested I drove it myself for a couple of days. It claimed my cornering was also poor, and I made a point of ensuring it wasn’t .

STAY AWAY! This black box insurance will punish and fine you for safe driving. I am a safe driver however if you were to look at my driving scores you would assume I am the bloody stig. I have a 16/100 score for cornering speeds yet I don't think it's possible for me to corner any slower at this point. My average rating for speed is poor yet I never go over the limit and I consistently get 100/100 daily scores. My average acceleration/braking is also rated as poor even though I am in a 80hp car with crappy drum brakes so it is physically impossible for me to accelerate or brake quickly.

was insured for a year and a half and I do not recommend. I completely understand the idea of a black box and safe driving, but co op increased my monthly payments because my score went down literally a couple points but was still well in the ‘good’ bracket. I found it incredibly stressful that a separate finance company managed the payments instead of co op itself and I was constantly receiving confusing emails that made me unclear of what was happening. Getting through to anyone on the phone takes forever and is also very stressful, and I often got charged extra just for the phonecall. A curfew on a black box is also something that needs to be a thing of the past as it’s ridiculous to assume someone old enough to drive a car doesn’t have responsibilities that require driving late sometimes. I really do not recommend this insurance - especially as a student as my time with co op only made me frustrated and stressed

Insured my car with young drivers so my son could drive it as well, the box was fitted and since then the blow heater keeps switching off!! Cancelled insurance after 3 weeks as the wanted to increase by £1300 because no claims can only be used on one vehicle? Switched and went to get the smart box taken out by local garage to find out they had hard wired the box and tracker to the egnition and wiring of the car so if it comes out the car won’t start, they’ve damaged the wiring of my car, everything keeps shutting down, I’m soooooo angry!! DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE ITS A RIP OFF SCAM, wish I’d taken note of reviews before I signed up, I’ve lost my £500 upfront cost as installation of box, cancellation fee etc taken out! Will be sending them a bill for damage to wiring if car though!!!

I took this policy out at the test centre so my son could drive straight away. Everything seemed ok, blackbox got installed etc. Then my son began getting issues with his "scores". He would be penalised for things such as having to do an emergency brake if a police car needed to pass in a compromising situation etc so they started charging him fees of £85. I regularly drive with my son and he drives so carefully and with a lot of attention, he used to be so confident but now all of this from CO-Operative has left him feeling like he doesn't want to use the car anymore. I think it's a disgrace, my son has dashcam evidence of his driving which also shows his driving. DO NOT BUY INSURANCE FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!

Stay way, that is my advice. I have cancelled my policy after only 2 months. "No curfew" what a lie that is. 5 minutes past 11 and I got a score of 30 for driving in a 'dangerous time'. I am 62 years old and I am well past the boy racer days. I do most of the driving and I get low scores on braking and cornering ?? My son gets a worse score than me and he is probably a more careful driver than I am having recently passed his test. I would advise anybody to really consider other options to get insurance before going with this rip off company. They deliberately keep your scores down so that they don't have to give you a discount. I wish that I had read the other reviews before I bought this dodgy insurance.

I uploaded my NCB in time, but four days later we received a letter telling me it hadn't been accepted as. the letter head wasn't showing on the screen shot - you'd think all I had to do was re-send it - a simple mistake, but instead they told me I now had to pay £800 extra for the insurance, on top of the £1,400 we were already paying. When I called them up, I was told their internal comms had now told them they could only accept NCB certificates that were uploaded within 7 days , even though our letter said we had 14 days. It went from bad to worse - we cancelled the insurance after repeated miscommunications from their side. You just don't want to be dealing with this sort of set up if you did have an accident.

The staff taking my insurance information clearly didn't know what they were doing. I was on the phone for nearly an hour trying to sort insurance out. After speaking to a second member of staff it was apparent they knew less than the first person. I ended the call. phoned another company and was sorted in under 15 minutes. Very poor service.

I'm a third way through my policy currently and I have noticed that each time it comes to your 90 day black box reviews, your score goes down dramatically. The past 3 days I have driven very carefully, not breaking late or accelerating too quickly and they put my score in the section 'acceleration and breaking' as worse than how I drove before. It is obvious they want to put scores down so that they can up our policy and con us into paying more a month. When I first got the policy my insurance went down which was great but the next review they upped it even tho my score was still in the 'very good' section on my black box dashboard. I find it disqusting that they advertise it as a young drivers insurance and they simply change our scores just to con us. Most young drivers don't have the best of jobs or are students and cant afford to be messed around like most people have been with this company. Avoid at all costs.

Black Box is random. Son had an average of 81/100 after 70 days .AFter 72 days it dropped to 66. One journey had his speed as 0/100. Thing is, I was in the car with him and he was driving impeccably. I'm wondering if this is because he is coming up to the 90 day discount window and the black box has a special algo which starts knocking your score down to avoid them having to give you a rebate. They tell me they are investigating it...We'll see

If you want your insurance price to be the same every month don’t go with this company. I will say it’s a nice surprise when you’re insurance price goes down, however my driving score was excellent and went down into good. Now I don’t drive around speeding everywhere, I don’t go out in “dangerous times” either. My policy is coming to an end and they have now decided to raise my insurance policy to higher than what I took it out on. Baring in mind I’m in the good score nearly in excellent, I could justify my insurance going from £81 to £130 if my score was in the poor or standard score but it’s not. ( I took the policy out paying £120 a month) If I were you I would look at another black box company that has a set price rather than them being able to change it. I would also suggest that if you can find a quote without a black box DO IT. Every time you drive around you’re so paranoid at your speed you’re probably looking at the speedo more than the actual road. I’m definitely counting down the two months until I can renew and go with a company which is a lot cheaper and without a black box.

Good insurance company. I used them for my first year of driving, and never had any problems with the black box. As long as you drive well you will get a discount, I got the full 22.5% back, which was nice. I won't be renewing with them though for my 2nd year as I can now get a policy without a black box. All in all I would recommend. 5stars.

coop black box says you are working towards a discount with good driving, never says its going to penalise you without warning. score got to top of green/50% and they Took an extra £182 without warning from someone elses card. not even an email. even thought the policy was paid upfront.

Awful - avoid if possible. We only did this as they were cheapest. I drove the car like a granny and it still said my cornering was awful. Scores are artificially updated over time to ensure you never get the discount you are supposedly going to get...

Cannot stress enough! Do not use this insurance company!!! First of all, their prices are through the roof! You don’t save money, it won’t improve your driving, if anything it will make you more of a hazard on the road!!!! The amount of issues I’ve had with this company is ridiculous, email after email back and fourth and didn’t solve anything. They say that you don’t have a curfew, but I’m reality if you drive late at night, be prepared to have your premium raised! Which they done to me, without even telling me!!! From £150-£191!!! Crazy!!! Money grabbing-money grabbing-money grabbing. Even driving like a granny will not help, I can assure you. So don’t waist your time with them, don’t waist your hard earned money on them! The dashboard is a waist of time, their black boxes don’t work correctly. Overall a really bad, money grabbing insurance company! No surprise they have 6 pages of 1 star reviews!!!! Sort it out co op, sort it out!! Won’t listen to what you have to say either, they feel they can get away with it! Don’t even get a quote, get out of there!!!

I’m a bit confused. I’ve read all the other reviews and it looks similar. I’ve had my black box in now for 8 months. The first 3 months I’d be paying £140. By The 4th month it randomly went up to £200 without no warning. I’ve tried getting a hold of them but can’t. I’ve been paying an extra £60 each month now as I’m not sure if I’m actually bad driving.
