Car booked in for repair under autoprotect warrantly. I was initially told that they had put car on diagnostic which generated codes they weren't sure about an needed further diagnosis. The next day I received a call to say they had identified the problem and it had been okayed by autoprotect. A few days passed and I chased it up. I was now told that I needed a wiring harness for a fuel injector, which would cost £320 and autoprotect now said it wasn't covered. I was also told it was a difficult to source part. More days passed, and when I chased up again I was told the part was expected the next day, and the job should be completed then or the day after, Two more days passed, and when I chased yet again I was told the part was there and the car was on the to do list. I pointed out that they would have had my car three weeks the next day. An hour later I received a call to say the work was completed. When I finally picked up my car the next day it was filthy and covered in leaves. It had clearly been parked under the tree at the front of the site for most of the three weeks. Very poor communication, ridiculous length of time to complete repair, and car returned in unacceptable state. Very poor service

I booked to do a full service in Halfords Lincoln Tritton centre. When reached there, they simply refused to do the service as the head office send an email confirmation of my booking very late. When i called support center, they said the email confirmation is automatic and not from head office. Now after the guys to refund my money. Never book their services online. you may end up loosing time and money. ---Rino

Shocking customer service from the start and ended up walking out and not letting them touch my car, if they can treat me like this then I wonder how they treat people’s cars. Never again!! Sheffield autocentre

I recently took my newly purchased BMW for an MOT and they came back with a host of problems that weren’t genuine... I went to an independent garage after that who allow customers to watch the MOT. The car passed it with no problem...I’ve been told by colleagues to avoid Halfords auto centres. I only went thinking it was a cheap option at £29.99 but don’t let the initial price tempt you in.

Had my car MOTed at the Borehamwood Autocentre and the car failed on three items. I sought a second opinion from a reputable independent garage and MOT test station. • Track rod end ball joint – this failure is genuine. • Parking brake – efficiency below requirements. This was a bogus failure as the hand brake is satisfactory and passed the second MOT. In any event the suggested remedy for this “failure” was the replacement of the rear drums, at an exorbitant cost of £452.38, which would have had no impact on the performance of the hand brake. • Brakes imbalanced across an axle – front. Again this is a fabrication as the front brakes needed no attention and passed the second MOT. I was advised by the Autocentre that the discs had some pitting, but this is not in itself an MOT failure, does not adversely affect performance or cause the bogus “imbalance”. It is clear that this car was deliberately failed by the Borehamwood Autocentre to generate unnecessary repair work.

Dented and scratched my car and they refused to fix it. After weeks of going back and forth, they then created a false damage report to say the damage was already there. Head Office refused to help. Cannot be trusted. Will never use their Autocentres or shops again.

Looking at your reviews, you have a serious problem with your level of service. My recent experience was unpleasant. Your receptionist was rude offensive and told lies. I bought a tyre from you because it was cheap. Next time I may shop elsewhere. I do not want a reply. I will not enter into further communication I offer this evaluation in the hope you will escalate to your management.

The receptionist was rude defensive and confrontational. Also, she either told lies or repeated lies told to her. - This was an unpleasant experience. I bought and paid for my tyre online. I had to option: I had to deal with this person................

Rude staff, does not know the work, no staff all the time. Take your good car there for service and pay money, you will get your car back with lot off issue, you go back the staff will abuse you and refuse to even answer saying they don't have staff.

" Aug 2017 67958 miles Car passed MOT but with warning to replace front brake pads within 1000 miles. 8 Sept 2017 68865 miles Halfords replace pads and put amber warning on front brake discs - 'both heavily scored/corroded'. The MOT was carried out by a very reliable garage and there was no mention of disc problem."

God they're awful! Wait a week for the radio and parts to arrive, spend 40 mins waiting, listening to ghastly rap music in store then get told they've got the wrong part. Get your money back and go to Argos and a garage.

The Taunton autocentre quoted me a price for a repair which was 3 times higher than my local garage. Tried to say it had a load of MOT failures even though my car passed its MOT 3 weeks ago! On top of that they didn't even diagnose the problem correctly. Do not go here they are out to rip you off as much as possible.

This will be the Third time Halfords have tried it on with regards to MOT "failures" This year it was windscreen wipers need replacing, odd that they were only a couple of months old and were not cheap ones and they worked perfectly in the rain on the way to the MOT. Once I'd pointed this out they did a retest and wouldn't you know it they passed. The 2 previous years it was brake lights need new bulbs, which were also not faulty. i'm guessing a lot of people will just agree to the cost of replacements without really knowing but as I always check everything before an MOT I'm not so gullible

Booked on a Thursday to have tyres fitted the following Monday, I received a confirmation email the same day and a text reminding me on the Sunday. Turned up and the booked time and the tyres weren't there. No phone call, nothing. Told they can have the tyres in 24 hours (hadn't been ordered their end) but they couldn't give me a slot for 3 days as they were busy! Honestly don't think they care. Offered me my money back if I was unhappy. Phoned central customer service hoping they'd rush an appointment for me, just told me the same stuff. Definitely won't use them again.

In Feb 2017 I took my Vivaro Fridge Van to Halfords Autocentre in Stafford, Greyfrairs. with a broken Engine mount, on an AA Insurance. I got the Van back 30 days later, And had it for around 20 miles and the timing belt snapped that they fitted, clearing out my engine. I had it back 26 days approx later rebuilt, but with the sills pushed in where they had the ramps. The clutch then had to be repaired another 6 days in the shop, now the exhaust is blowing from the rebuild, and the engine is blowing smoke. They only painted over the sills. A number of issues have happened and need to be rectified but they want me to take it to another Autocentre to be assessed, I have no confidence anymore. They are refusing payment on my hire as they promised and want to drop the repair if I go to another Garage for assessment. Please think very carefully before taking any Motor to A Halfords Autocentre. I am currently being advised legally, on my next move. Its only the end of July so I have missed nearly 6 months MOT and 6 months Insurance.

I booked an MOT online and made immediate payment days in advance. Halfords rang on the day of the MOT and cancelled. Although they had cleared payment i had to wait 3-5 days for a refund. Terrible service

I took my car into the gt yarmouth branch to have a bracket put on my exhaust that had snapped , they told me i needed a new back box costing £175 , as i am not a female that will be ripped off , i then went to fast fit to see what they would charge , and was shocked when they quoted £72.60, that was over £100 less , i was going to purchase tyres but will never ever set foot in halfords again , and will not be recommending to friends ,family ,and business partners ,
