I have never known a worse company and I have never said this about a company but I would not touch this company with a barge pole. I am extremely disappointed with the way Halfords has handled a series of issues with my car following work carried out by them. I took my car to Halfords for a service. As soon as I picked up my car from them 8 months ago, the warning light came on. The car had no issues and no warning light before the service. Since that service, the car has had two oil leaks, both of which an independent garage proved was due to Halfords’ poor quality of work during the service. Two oil leaks later, which Halfords have sent me pillar to post to try to get reimbursed, which they still refuse to, despite evidence proving it is their fault, my warning light remains on with no fix. My car is now unsaleable and will not pass an MOT, purely due to Halfords’ unbelievably appalling work. What should have been a straightforward service has resulted in repeated garage visits, further repairs, considerable expense and a car that I have been left unable to rely on and am anxious to drive longer than 10 minutes. The independent garage, I used for the remedial works, identified that Halfords had overtightened my sump/repaired it an angle, without even telling me, the paying customer, that they had worked on the sump! They also evidenced that Halfords had broken my crank seal however Halfords refuse to pay for this repair (of hundreds of pounds) had been overtightened and required repair, and there were also issues involving the crank seal, which Halfords refuse to reimburse me for, despite evidence this was their fault. The current branch manager seems embarrassed and said he took over as the manager ‘for a reason’ implying the last manager was below par. I have now had to take the car to a garage on five different occasions to try and fix the problems that began that Halfords caused. Halfords have taken the immoral decision to not fix my car and have effectively ruined my car, meaning I am facing further diagnostic and repair costs simply to establish what is wrong and whether the vehicle can be returned to a reliable and roadworthy condition, which seems highly unlikely. The impact has gone far beyond the cost of the original service. I have incurred approximately £1,600 in related repair costs, have spent a significant amount of time dealing with repeated garage visits and correspondence, and have been left with a vehicle whose reliability and value have been affected. What I find particularly frustrating is their lack of accountability and poor communication, with their staff being verbally abusive to me, on several occasions, and another family member, and even laughing at the issue and then pretending his wasn't. No professionalism or empathy whatsoever. Wish I had not used this company- they make life unnecessarily painful! I contacted the complaints team about this and an admin person adopts a computer-says-no position and they do not even look into the issue-they do not care and it is very dangerous having work done there. The fact my experience is not unusual amongst poor Halfords customers tells you all you need to know about this well known brand you would think you can trust.

Minus 10 for these clowns. Booked and paid for home battery fitting. Acknowledged and money taken confirmed in email. the conflicting texts/emails confusing but not cancelling order. check progress and said all was on schedule. they tied to contact me at 6.30am and complains I was not available. gave me a number to call but no one to talk to and my situation was not on the list of choices. Phoned did get hold of someone, after they cut me off the first time. She said appointment cancelled . Why did they not inform me? Still showing was going ahead. rescheduled Sunday, Why not Saturday? Holiday £700. now have to cancelled. Solicitors on the case.

I booked an MOT and service combined. Got the MOT done .But had to return on Thursday 14 of May ,because they did not have a technician. Between yourself and Euro parts ,ordered the wrong air filters So they reordered ,and again it was the wrong filter So I had to take my car in on third day for the replacement filter ,which cost me time and money Then when I checked my bill .You had charged me twice for a fuel system cleaner of £19 .58 .Which im hopping for a refund. So I very disappointed. And will Not be using Halford again

We came to halfords in Altrincham today 13 May 2026 for a battery check. The test was done and we were told the battery will need replacing. We agreed the price and had a brand new battery fitted by them. We where treated professionaly. By the staff. It was a quick job and was done with a professional way. I will always go to holfords all the time, as it was a great experience by all your fantastic machines. I would like to thank you for your service. Regards Dave Morris.

Well, after 7 years trusting them with my cars, this was the last time of me using the Reading, Long Barn Lane branch. I don't know what has happened since last year, but it appears that little Asia is growing there where all sorts of dodgy deals seem to be going down. The MOT inspector was fine, but chatting with one of the English techs I recognised from previous visits while waiting, revealed all sorts of sordid back room deals. I asked what was going on- apparently parts and fluids were being exchanged for brown envelopes. "Isn't it all traceable?" I asked- "nah, customers have no idea what is needed for their car and they believe anything on the invoice". So we are paying for parts we don't need at this branch- which are being sold privately to staff friends. Lovely. A wheel bearing repair for £800 where the part cost just £35 and took half an hour. "Nice little earner!" Never again. Trust gone. My suggestion- get a written quote from them then go somewhere else for a second opinion. You will ALWAYS beat their price. Sorry guys, but this branch is toast. Management, you really need to investigate. Set up CCTV cameras or something.

Car booked in for MOT and service- payment in advance. On day the staff just walked out and shut store - no signs no explanation just walked out. No one able to rebook for refund. Avoid these cowboys - I should have listened to friends who said they were terrible.

Absolute shambles Brownhills service centre Simple order two new tyres. Day 1 not in stock given an appointment time for the next day Arrived on time to be told the tyres had not been ordered Blamed a colleague initially and said not it was my fault and apologised. Given appointment for next day(3) Arrived on time to be told by another person that the tyres should be arriving in about 3hrs At this point it was obvious that nobody knew what was going on and blagged their way through the day I cancelled order hope Kwik fit do better

Good price on 4 tyres work carried out quickly but dissapointed with the e-mailed invoice saying that i needed extra work--a cv joint dust cover £143, a replacement front strur £396 a replacement top strut mount bearing £143 the bearing would haveto be removed if strut was changed any way so could esily be changed at the same time and a new one does not cost that much, for safety reasons you do not replace one strut they must be replaced in pairs, the sad part is that gas filled dampers/struts do not contain WD40 as that what was "leaking" from the strut when it was checked correctly. Would buy tyres again but ignore any thing else, just to add i replaced all the brakes and discs before my visit.

Halfords came to my house and fitted the wrong tyre on my car. The tyre fitted wasn’t what they invoiced/ I paid for. Tonight, they were booked to come and put the correct tyre on. The tyre fitter called me 4 times during the afternoon, asking if he could come earlier, so I raced home from work. He was due at 5.15pm (originally booked 6pm - 8pm). At 5.20pm he left a message to say he wasn’t coming. Subsequently I phoned Halfords, only to be cut off. I’m absolutely livid.

After two wasted visits, and three hours of waiting to do a 20 minute job, they handed the car back to me damaged.

I went today with my Toyota.. it had been making screaming noises last Thursday and Friday. I booked in for a diagnostic test today…Steven greeted me and listened to my description of the car’s issues… he took the car for it’s diagnostic test, then Aaron worked on it… As a woman with car issues I want to be listened to and not treated like an idiot… Steven certainly did both of the above and I am very grateful. The Salisbury Halfords Autocentre on the Southampton road are wonderful… great customer service…. Thank you 👏
