Cracking group of lads Anthony, John & Frank at Denton would defo use again and will use again. These are my local lads I was passing through and needed a battery urgently. I used to use the same garage years ago all the time when I lived in Denton about 10 years ago. It has now changed hands and Halfords run /own it. Had some battery issues on my small commercial van (had it 7 months no issues) with me having to jump start it the day earlier. The guy who had it before me had fitted a normal car battery on it and this wasn't;t the correct type I was advised (which was correct). Took it to Denton (used to be national tyres) & the guys fixed me up decent. We fitted a larger - the correct type battery - first off but it wouldn't register but after messing about with it traced it down to a faulty earth main cable that needed stripping back. Cracking lads really helped me out to no end and got me going again. Thanks again lads really appreciate you staying late and messing about with my van on that dark cold Thursday last minute. 10.10 impeccable service and a credit to the service station. NB for other future customers / users in my non-biased review please bear in my mind that: - These are lads are mainly fitters first and do what they can with the available equipment, knowledge and availability at what they can do at their disposal. Halfords are generally not highly trained 'coverall' mechanics / engineers to the best of my knowledge. So in light of this if there are negative reviews on here - -I haven't seen any - its probably because someone wanted a full engine rebuild using matchsticks for 2p. It doesn't work like that with Halfords service centres. For what there job description expects of them in my experience they go above and beyond to help out. Thanks again kind regards Gaz :-)

**DO NOT TAKE THE GAMBLE** I took the gamble and bought 4 tyres online and choose HALFORDS AUTOCENTRE BEDFORD as the place to have my tyres fitted. Unfortunately any money I may have saved has been completely offset by damage to one of my wheels. Steve was polite and friendly when I dropped my car off and indeed when I went to pick it up again later. However Steve’s good nature seemed to vanish when I called the next day. I explained I had noticed some damage to one of the wheels which I am 99% certain was not there before. When I asked what we do about it Steve’s first response was “Well nothing….” Steve did change his attitude a little though and then asked me to send pics of the damage of which he would forward to head office. Steve also said they take pictures of the wheels before they change the tyres and after, so he believed the damage would already be present. Funny thing is though Steve has never sent me proof in the form of these pics and in fact neither Steve or head office have contacted me since. Steve is either not telling the truth about the pics, or has seem damage on these pics and doesn’t want to admit it. Either way not good! In conclusion please learn from my experience and don’t gamble at this place in the hope of saving any money. After my experience and reading some of the other reviews IT REALLY ISN’T WORTH THE GAMBLE

POLICE has been involved, Absolutely Appalling Experience – Avoid This Place at All Costs! I visited the Stranraer branch of Halfords for a full service yesterday, and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I deeply regret not reading other reviews beforehand, especially on Trustpilot. I handed my car over at 10 AM, and six hours later, they were still “changing the oil.” Over the phone, they assured me the car would be ready in a couple of hours, and then guaranteed by 4 PM. It was 5:30 PM, and still no sign of completion. This level of incompetence is beyond frustrating, and I will NEVER be coming back here. To make matters worse, they informed me at the end of the job that the tyres they sold me in April 2023—just 16 months ago—were already at the end of their life. My previous set of tyres lasted over 5 years, so you can imagine my shock. When I mentioned I’d need to order new tyres (obviously not from them), they reported me to the POLICE! I was fined shortly after for driving home on worn tyres. The audacity to sell me such poor-quality tyres and then call the police when I chose not to buy from them again is absolutely disgusting. Not only did they keep my car for 7 and a half hours for a service, but they also failed to fix the rear differrencial oil leak which i precisely asked for and even more importantly they failed to apologize for the inconvenience, instead blaming everything else around them. Minutes later, they had the nerve to act as if it was all completely normal, asking me to continue waiting like nothing was wrong. Avoid this place like the plague. They are unprofessional, dishonest, and their customer service is non-existent. Save yourself the stress and go elsewhere. Just wondering how Halfords can afford their name to be compromised like that.

Complete incompetent liars at Halfords Autocentre Barnstaple yesterday. Against my better judgement I ordered two tyres to be fitted here (the only local garage I could find that could supply the tyres I wanted). On arrival I checked the locking wheel nut was under the boot floor in it's correct place and advised the receptionist (who also appeared to be a mechanic). Only one other mechanic on site. Half an hour later I received a call that there was no locking wheel nut. I returned and searched fruitlessly for the nut before demanding a refund and left. A couple of hours later after more rummaging, I found it stuck down a hole at the side of the boot. There is no way it could have got there without the knowledge of the person fetching it, even if dropped accidentally. But did they admit to having lost it? No. They just kept insisting it wasn't there. Had I not persisted later, and wasted most of my afternoon I could have faced an expensive solution of drilling out the locked nuts and replacing. Never again will I return to this place or any other Halfords Autocentre if this is the level of incompetence and dishonesty of the employees they are prepared to hire.

Absolutely disgusted car went in for MOT and 2 new front tyres at Tritton Road branch in Lincoln. Wheels had recently been refurbished at a well known dealer Not only have Halfords damaged the wheels they have scored the old weights off leaving big scratches prior placing new weights on. Also the Manager says he doesn't understand how or why they have scratched the wheels and would not give us the number or email of his Regional Manager to complain further.

Hi all, I am a loyal customer and recently bought two new tires for my car from Halford Garage, booking an appointment for a wheel alignment. I arrived on time for my 9:30 AM appointment, only to be told they were too busy and the car would need a couple of hours. When I returned, the alignment was still not done properly. Despite expressing my concerns, the team rudely told me to come back at 4 PM. At 4 PM sharp, I waited in my car right in front of the garage. The employees saw me and made eye contact, but continued working on other cars. After waiting for 40 minutes, I approached them, only to be rudely told that it was my fault for not officially presenting myself to them earlier. This experience was a complete waste of my day, and the staff treated me as if their service was free. Unprofessional and disrespectful service – I expected much better from Halford Garage. --- Please if need this to be sorted I would like get a refund cause am not going to waste my time again and see that unrespecful behaviour from that mechanic . Worst garage I have had a misfortune of dealing with for MOT! * reception guy rude! Unprofessional, didn’t even understand his job, disrespectful. * health and safety doesn’t exist, there was a baby in the push chair in the garage when I got there. * only one very nice mechanic whom came and had a chat with me about the issue. * reception guy needs to be thought how to deal with customers or get rid. * I will never be using that garage again just so I don’t have to deal with him again. Say away from that garage at all cost.

AVOID AT ALL COST !! TERRIBLE, UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE AND RUDE STAFF Booked an MOT with Halfords a couple of weeks ago. Upon arrival we informed that the wipers must be changed first. They failed to change them, ran the MOT and registered it with DVLA as failed (reason- front wipers)! Then they called us asking if we want to replace the wipers ?!?! After they run the second MOT. FYI I got the car brand new 5 years ago, always serviced by Toyota, so the car is in really good condition. When collecting the car we complained about it. We were given a rude laugh and the statement ‘your wipers are not my problem, this is how we do it here’. Called the head office demanding refund and rectifying the error with the DVLA. All we received was ‘sincere apologies and wishes that our next visit will be a better experience’.

I made the mistake of taking my car to Halfords for an MOT and service. It cost a fortune. I then got tied into their AWFUL Motoring Club, I have tried to cancel it and they are still taking payments!! Please avoid. There is no easy option to cancel and going through hoops to get it cancelled. Payment comes out via your card on paypal so its incredibly difficult to cancel the payments. I wouldn't touch this place with a bargepole now and have lost any trust I had in Halfords.

Awful service, also the law does not apply to them!!! My elderly mother took her car there for an MOT and was told that all 4 tyres needed replacement due to cracks in the sidewalls. The price they quoted initially led me to believe that they were putting their most expensive tyres on, however when I enquired about using cheaper tyres they informed me that those were already the cheapest tyres they sold, the reason the price was over DOUBLE that on the website was because they were using tyres they had in stock!! I suggested that we go elsewhere in order to see if we could get a better price and then return for a retest and I was told that this was not allowed and that they would need to do a full retest and pay again. My mother just wanting the problem solved then agreed to pay for the tyres to be changed. When I got home I phoned Halfords about the retest being incorrect and they told me the same thing, that a new test would be required along with the full charge. I phoned VOSA who told me immediately that this was totally incorrect and that a free retest is required by law (for tyres, amongst other things) if returned by the next day. I again phoned Halfords and told them this and they still said the same thing, they even looked up the law on the government website and agreed that I was correct in what I said but that because their policy said it was chargeable then it would be chargeable.

Booked and paid for an MOT online. Turned up for the appointment. Was told they didn’t know anything about the booking and couldn’t MOT it anyway as the vehicle was too long for their ramp despite entering the vehicle details being entered at the booking stage. Mechanic had zero customer service skills and seemed to think he’d done me a big favour by refunding the fee for the MOT that wasn’t carried out. Atrocious online booking system that doesn’t communicate with their own centres coupled with borderline rude centre staff with no customer service skills or appreciation for the inconvenience caused. Won’t be using Halfords again if I can help it!!

My wife’s Car was given loads of advisories on an MOT they wants £1200 to do it all ! £300 for a set of front discs x 2 and pads !!! £300 for wishbones x 2 you can buy all the parts for less than £400 total total rip off , they said I had an oil leak it’s a little bit of oil I spilt in engine bay when I topped the oil up is disgusting how they can try and charge for Halford’s branded products ! Don’t use Halford’s Telford . So all in all I can probably get these done for max £500 fitted or they probably don’t even need doing which I will get my normal mechanic to check it all out .

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS !!!!!! STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS !!!!!!! My van failed its MOT on a leaking shock absorber. No front sidelights when ignition was on . Changed the faulty shock with a brand new one professionally fitted . Was told there was nothing wrong with the sidelights by my mechanic. So went for a retest , the MOT tester called me into the garage . Told me he was going to fail again as front sidelights still not working . When he switched to sidelights with ignition on I noticed the DRL's lights came on instead . Tried to explain my 2017 caddy had always been the same . At which point his manager stepped in the garage and had a right go at me for being in there . Simon Ward is his name , when it was his Tester that called me in . So I lost my cool , took my van and left . After this I lost out on three days wages until I could hire a van at £350 . When I had time I went to see a citygate VW technician. He explained the sidelight are 5w and only work when ignition is off . They are just parking lights in essence. That the DRL lights are 21w so take over from the front sidelights when ignition is on as they are brighter . So my van was failed for no reason . Have tried to complain . Knowone has ever bothered to get back to me . So I lost out on around £1000 cash . Still have to gey my van MOT on Monday elsewhere . DO NOT USE THESE ILL-INFORMED MOT TESTERS THEY HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT THEY ARE DOING !!! While I was at their garage another customer a lady was having similar problems . Her vehicle failed , so she had the work done by another garage . Then they failed her on something else on her retest . Date of experience: 31 January 2024

Cowboys. Never again will I ever use halfords llanelli autocare. Booked a car for service. Had a phone call to say car needed other work doing , I had a stupid prices quoted to me for the additional work. Then I read the comments on the invoice regarding the service. Seatbelt couldn't be tested due a bag of rubbish. He couldn't move a small bag over to seat beside him. So now I now the service wasn't carried out fully. Thanks.
