Booked my car for a free suspension check. They found that I needed repairs to front and rear passenger suspension arms and link arms etc, new tyre and tracking at a cost of £440. I declined and took my car with the report to a local garages for them to quote price to repair and was told that the rear suspension arm that halfords said needed replacing doesn't even exist on my car so how can they give a price. I decided to goto another garage for a third opinion and he inspected the car whilst I watched and he found no issues with passenger or driver suspension rear and front. What a rip off they should be banned from trading.

Visited halfords autocentre as I have a VGS warranty for my car and wanted to make claim for a faulty thermostate and faulty clutch. Explained them what the problem is with the car and we booked time for diagnostic. After diagnostic they said that there was some air in the system and the temp gauge needs time to move up. I've just done 200 miles and the temp gauge didn't move up so connected the OBD scanner and it was showing 52 centygrade celsius. I have also checked the temperature on the in/out hoses to radiator and they were warm (whichever engine is cold or warm) as well hence the thermostate was fully open all the time. They quoted me £1200 just to assess what would be the problem with clutch!! After some google research I have replaced the clutch master cylinder myself (cost £70) and the clutch is like new :) Halfords autocentre ipswich blokes are completely useless!

Visited Halfords Autocentre at Ashford on Saturday 23rd December 2017. The woman on reception was the most rudest person that I have ever come across, not at all helpful, in fact she was very condescending. Now moving onto the technicians. Well, they were the most miserable bunch of idiots that I have ever come across. Seems like Halfords have gathered together the worst bunch of staff from the whole country and sent them to the Ashford branch. They stood around talking to each other for 20 minutes, probably discussing the previous nights goings on, rather than carrying out the work that poor customers like myself had booked their cars in for. Smoking outside the side door and tea breaks seemed to be more important to them rather than customers cars. Could they have been more helpful and friendly, definitely, could they have been more unhelpful, unlikely. Would I use Halfords Autocentre Ashford again, never. Would I recommend the Ashford Autocentre, definitively not. Note for Halfords Management, this whole outfit at Ashford should go through re-training on how to deal with Customers and how they put them first rather than furthering their skills in how to chat to each other and ignoring their customers.

I booked a MOT test at Woking the week before. Having experienced Hellfraud's appalling time-keeping I decided to telephone before I left to ensure all was well. The telephone rang and rang and rang and rang, and was then disconnected. The same happened again. Upon arriving I was informed that the MOT had been double-booked and that I was the loser, followed by a shrug of the shoulders and the advice to contact customer services; really helpful! I would never use these clowns for a car service; they are not mechanics in any definable sense of the word. I will now also no longer be using them for the MOT; it really is not worth the trouble.

I went into Halford Autocentre in Chadwell Heath, London and was served by that sleepy sloppy lazy guy called George if he has said his name right. I went there as I had a great impression about halford. However, I can't remember receiving any worse customer service in my whole life in any place than what I received yesterday. I felt like he hated us. Never mind the smile or greetings, he would not even talk or willing to serve though there were no other customers. The car service was done and we could see the car key and the file was ready for invoicing and handing over. So dumb that it took hours to just prepare a simple invoice and taking payments. He was taking so long doing nothing that his colleague had to point him out that the file and key is here and customer is waiting, why don't you process it. Then he sat at his computer kind of reluctantly, fiddling with it incompetently and spend more than a hour to just produce the invoice. Also, utterly dishonest, all lights were working in the car before we went in the but during the MOT he called to say that three lights are not working and we cannot pass you unless you agree to chage it, kind of extortion. Felt like he charged for a lot of things unnecessarily and abused the trust of customer. There was no politeness and not even a minimal sense of decency or respect for customer. I felt like he just hated us. Waste of money and time for this utterly rubbish, rude and con service.

I booked an appointment at 10:30 to have 2 new tyres fitted to my Freelander. I arrived on time but was asked to sign a printed form that had boxes pre-ticked to say I wanted marketing emails from Halfords and it was OK to pass my details to other companies. I crossed both out. The receptionist told me it would take about an hour to replace the tyres. I went and had a coffee and went back after an hour or so to see my car on a ramp with the bonnet up. I asked why this was being done and was told it was a general check-over. They hadn't even started replacing the tyres by this point. After almost 2 hours the technician came out and after a while doing something on the computer, told me that the rear brake pads were below specification. The receipt shows a quote of £368.63 to replace the pads and discs. What he didn't know was that the car had been serviced by the local Land Rover main dealer the day before and nothing had been said about pads and discs. Just to make sure, I called back into the main dealer on the way home and was told that the discs were good for another few thousand miles yet. I won't be recommending Halfords autocentres to anybody.

Halfords autocentre in Farnborough failed my car MOT due to both rear number plate bulbs being blown. After 25 years in the transport sector I know enough about MOTs to pre-check my car beforehand (both bulbs working) and that having both bulbs fail simultaneously without a corresponding electrical fault is very unlikely. This is not the first time a car of mine had failed an MOT at this autocentre for the same reason, hence my suspicion. Standard pack of two 501 bulbs from Halfords is £3-4. Price of fitting at the autocentre without even being asked to replace them.....£20.78! Are the staff at Halfords Autocentre in Farnborough topping up their Xmas fund? My guess is I'm not the only one they're taking for a turkey!

Test drive after changing tyres? This is a first and the explanation for it was a joke, to test the wheels dont fall off. All you have to do is do the wheel nuts up. Will never use again, 1hr 15mins to change three tyres and at one point they checked the oil level, no idea why as I only wanted new tyres? Clearly trying to find other work to try and get more money from me.

Took my car to Halfords Auto Centre this morning for an MOT, I get a phone call saying both my headlights aren't working, which was weird as both worked when I dropped the car off, was told £167 to fix. £167 to fix something that worked an hour before they touched my car. Ridiculous.

I would like to give no star rating but the site won't let me I took my car to byfleet autocenter for an oil change simple job...not for halfords months later I discover a leak when I parked on my sisters new drive returned to halfords after a massive argument them saying they didnt cause the leak they drain the oil and repair it ..when my usual garage attempt to do do the next oil change they discover that the sump plug had been over tightened damaging the sump itself. Halfords solution wrap the plug in ptfe tape around the plug and jam it in ..I'm left with a big repair bill they are denying responsibility saying it's my fault because I wouldn't let them fit a new plug ..cost about thee pounds.. right...despite video evidanice still at least it didn't fall out as this would have meant no oil in engine and it would have been wrecked ..my advice don't let them even look at your car i wouldn't trust them to tie their own shoes

Unbelievably bad.when I arrived a couple were having an argument with the LAD behind the counter ( not a good start )Our Car wouldn't start so spark plugs replaced.still wouldn't start .suspected fuel contaminated? ,daughter adamant right fuel was put in ,Halford staff confident it would rectify the problem so fuel system was cleaned total price £360.collected the car it wouldn't START !.Then told no petrol in it .Petrol put in still wouldn't start.Demanded a refund .Two other customers in the garage at the same time as us both complaining about the staff "not having a clue". Car transported to different garage diagnosed a faulty coil , replaced car now back on the road . Don't even consider taking a car there , unless it's to have air IN THE TYERS .

Do not go here! It is not a big name you can trust. It’s a name that overcharges for work. Poor customer service and cheap MOTs to trick you into using them. I’ve heard 3 people come in to complain while I’ve been sat here. Eg tyres not fitted properly, bumper not put on right, service book not stamped. Awful half arsed work.

Took my car into Halfords yesterday for pre-booked MOT. Received a phone call nearly 3 hours later to say it had failed due to the brakes. Quoted me £201 as they said brake pads and discs in front needed to be replaced before mot could be issued. My husband took the car to our normal garage today who showed him the brakes did not need doing especially as I only do about 3000 miles p.a. There was at least 80% wear left on the pads, and although the one disc was slightly pitted it was not needing replacement as the pads could still be used normally. My garage passed the vehicle with a note to say the breaks did not require changing yet. Halfords, what a "rip-off" you are!! How many other women to you try to 'con' in order to meet your sales targets?

Booked my cat in for a MOT and service, paid online. Went to give my car in on the day and was told that it would be ready at 17.30pm. At 15.30pm I receive a phone call from the manager saying that my car wont be ready until the next day. I was fuming as I really needed the car that evening. Not only that he told me the MOT had failed. He gave me a list of things that needed doing on the car and that I would need to pay a further £356. There was no apology from the manager. I had no choice but to pay the additional cost. I went to collect the car the next day, the receptionist gave me the MOT test certificate with my incorrect number plate. When I requested him to print it with the correct reg plate he told me he wouldn't be able to do it and asked me to come in 2 days later to collect the correct one. Why would I have to make another journey for your mistake. I even asked him to post it to me or email it to me, he refused. Worst experience ever. I wouldn't recommend anyone to use them.

I booked in my MOT online and paid up front. I duly turned up at the appointment time only to be told that 'due to unforeseen circumstances' my MOT had been cancelled as they didn't have a tester in - on a Saturday. I did get an apology from the chap that told me, but I was just told to find somewhere else to carry out and to contact customer services to get my refund. After spending over an hour driving to other MOT garages in the vicinity - all of which told me Halfords cancelling MOTs at the last minute was a common occurrence - I managed to find somewhere else to do it there and then - for an extra £10.....it passed with no issues. I do not live in the town and could only get it done that day due to work commitments. I find it appalling service that they didn't even try to telephone me beforehand, did not try to help me get the MOT done elsewhere, that they wouldn't even organise the refund for me. I made a formal complaint only to be offered a £5 gift card! I told them no, as that would mean me spending yet more money with them. Steer clear of the garages - very poor service

Car booked in for repair under autoprotect warrantly. I was initially told that they had put car on diagnostic which generated codes they weren't sure about an needed further diagnosis. The next day I received a call to say they had identified the problem and it had been okayed by autoprotect. A few days passed and I chased it up. I was now told that I needed a wiring harness for a fuel injector, which would cost £320 and autoprotect now said it wasn't covered. I was also told it was a difficult to source part. More days passed, and when I chased up again I was told the part was expected the next day, and the job should be completed then or the day after, Two more days passed, and when I chased yet again I was told the part was there and the car was on the to do list. I pointed out that they would have had my car three weeks the next day. An hour later I received a call to say the work was completed. When I finally picked up my car the next day it was filthy and covered in leaves. It had clearly been parked under the tree at the front of the site for most of the three weeks. Very poor communication, ridiculous length of time to complete repair, and car returned in unacceptable state. Very poor service

I booked to do a full service in Halfords Lincoln Tritton centre. When reached there, they simply refused to do the service as the head office send an email confirmation of my booking very late. When i called support center, they said the email confirmation is automatic and not from head office. Now after the guys to refund my money. Never book their services online. you may end up loosing time and money. ---Rino
