We were new customers for buildings insurance and the pre-sales communication was good. All details were obtained and some advice given as to what was needed in regards to legal requirements. The initial cost of the insurance was settled and paid for by us when it was found that we had been over charged. Not quite sure how this happened but the good news was that Henshall's did advise us of this overpayment and we had to be refunded an overpayment of £200. After sales not quite as good as the pre-sale service. E-mails dropped into the abyss I had to make 2 phone calls over 10 days to chase the refund.

Hi Kate, thank you for drawing our attention to this - we can only apologise for the lack of communication relating to your refund - we issued this on the 22nd of June after obtaining your details on the 21st of June, we were unaware that there were potentially delays in this refund reaching you. We have implemented staff training to try and prevent this situation from occurring again in the future. Service always great but a 20% premium rise in one year is way too much.

Hi Jeremy, thank you for your review - we referred back to your insurers when you raised this enquiry initially and they did confirm that there are certain factors making this a non-standard risk and unfortunately they have no movement on the premiums set. I'm sure you understand that as a Broker this unfortunately is out of our control - we are pleased to hear though that our staff are continuing to provide you with good customer service.

My insurance renewal was late sorting which has left me paying more when it should of came down drastically.

We’re sorry that our service fell below expectations this year. The process was started with you three weeks prior to renewal but we had to chase the insurers for revised renewal terms after the changes you advised, and the final terms were only received a few days prior to renewal. We will happily start the process a lot earlier next year if you wish and remarket your policies, but unfortunately we are often in the hands of the insurers when it comes to timely responses. I have insured my cars for many years with Henshalls. This year I was unable to speak to the person who has always advised me as she was away on holiday. I had 2 telephone conversations with the person dealing with my policy, she was pleasant although on both occasions, however I got the impression that she wanted to finish the conversation quickly? I appreciate they are busy and especially so at this time of year with staff on holiday, however insurance is not cheap nowadays and I did not appreciate feeling the way I did.

Whilst the service provided is usually good I was disappointed with the renewal process for our Management Liability Policy. The same generic proposal was issued, which did not address the substantial premium increases of over 100%, & only further chase ups determined the reasons for such increases. As no acceptable alternative solutions were available through Henshalls I had to secure affordable insurance cover through another broker.

I use a broker to take the stress of the rules, conditions, paperwork etc etc from me. Elsa was good at that. The rest, not so sure....
