“You keep begging them to pay you, they say they have forwarded to accounts, apparently they would pay you 7 days after the buyer received the item, doesn't happen, you then contact them, remind them, again, nothing happens. Has anybody been paid so far?”
“A very rude and horrendous company, to list the items on their site takes forever, then you get items from this season worn twice, showing they have really no signs of wear declined as "the state of the item" or "not modern enough for us"
Given what ex employees say about the company culture, not a surprise that most people skip them, I list my items at other pages as well, and even if HEWI does accept them, they sell faster on other websites where the commission is also lower. If you do make a sale, it takes forever to get paid, you have to remind them and remind them.
I see no point in paying even the VAT of a company that has so little regard for sellers and apparently think they are the arbitors of taste. They really have no idea about current lines.”
“HEWI is an utterly dishonest and deceptive company. Future buyers, I implore you to pay close attention to all the negative reviews on here. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. Out of the two items I’ve ordered, the first arrived with a gaping HOLE. This raises serious concerns about their so-called "authenticity" guarantee and inspection process for luxury items. If they let blatantly faulty products slip through, what else are they overlooking?
The second item was from their outlet, where the listing clearly stated that returns were available (I have screenshots as proof!) However, after purchasing the item, which unfortunately did not fit, HEWI denied my refund, claiming that outlet items are final sale (although they were honest enough to mention that this was a recent change and they could see how it was “confusing”). Yet, there was no mention of this in the returns policy at all—just a hidden clause buried deep in their terms and conditions. This is a textbook example of misleading customers.
When I reached out to explain the confusion and requested a return, they ignored me for almost a week before finally refusing. I even asked for store credit as a compromise, but again, I have received no response for weeks now. I have literally been ghosted. Instead of addressing their misleading policies, all they have offered is to list the item on their platform, as if that’s a satisfactory resolution. This is a disgraceful way to treat customers and completely their fault for having such unclear and deceptive policies.
HEWI, your company is a shambles. If you continue to operate in this underhanded manner, it's only a matter of time before you go out of business. I hope anyone reading this review thinks twice before wasting their hard-earned money with you. There are far better alternatives out there like Sellier, Vestiaire, Sign of the Times, Reliked, Vinted, Depop, or eBay—places that actually respect their customers. Avoid HEWI at all costs!”
“Another disgruntled seller
I have asked Anastasia x4 tto ask the so- called 'payments team' to release my £951 from three sales- one of them since April 2024.
Do the team just ignore Anastasia or what I bet she's fed up asking and sympathizes with me a lot you have so many
Terrible reviews and you are doing nothing to make this up professionally. I bet the owner- the CEO is very disappointed. Pl pay today
I have asked 6 times and spoken to James last week on the phone.
Nothing”
“HEWI is not legit. I bought 4 times from HEWI and every single one was a disaster. The first two were not original product, the third was damage (the top has two hole, very visible and the fabric is washed off but it still is on their website marked as NEVER WORN), I return it and was waiting over a month to get the refund (with dozens of massages asking them to processed). The last time I ordered a pair of jeans. I was waiting for a 10 days, no massage about the shipping so I asked them on WhatsApp, they said they can't find the jeans...I think this is one of this enterprise that earn a lot of money by not paying back and not sending stuff. All in all people probably have no time to argue with them... A bit more posh scam.”
“Wish I had read the review prior to making any purchases. This is a fraudulent company with inconsistent policies and no regard with customer care or satisfaction. If you are seller be very careful as I highly doubt they will be around next year with this level of service and lack of transparency. Much better off using or purchasing through Vestaire. Spoken to them via email and the tone is very unprofessional. Purchased item some of which are damaged and 1 is yet to be delivered but they won’t accept returns.”
“Absolute bunch of low-life thieves that are gaslighting their customers. I was selling 13 pairs of my shoes with them through their supposedly “VIP” service. Firstly, after months now I have realised that they didn’t publish the sale for my phyton Roberto Cavalli shoes. I called them and they said they would escalate it for the next week, but now on Instagram, they answered that my shoes were rejected…(although they accepted them, see photo evidence). Imagine a company with this self-proclaimed professional experience that steals from its customers. This is wild. Secondly, they came to collect the shoes on 21st December and although they sold 8 pairs, I had to beg for my money until mid-March. They gave me only 1k and still didn’t pay the rest of the money, saying how it is escalated with their account team! It's so sad, considering they are keeping 30% off the sale as I had prepared everything in the boxes, with each of them having shoebags, spare heel tops and care leaflets. So, considering that they have breached the contract and not fulfilled their part of the contract, we have a case. Not to mention the theft of the shoes. Rude, clueless, mute lying bunch. Do not sell, buy or interact with this company.”
“Hewi lost £3000 worth of my goods and strung me along from august 2022 until september 2023 claiming they were going to return my items to me before finally acknowledging that they had in fact lost everything. I've written to the company multiple times and had a small claims judgement ruled in my favour to have them compensate me for the lost items and they've continued to ignore me. I've now resorted to bailiffs to try and obtain some money back from me. They are significantly insolvent i would strongly advise anyone selling with them to have their goods returned immediately and sell through a trustworthy site.”
“Hi
This is the second time HEWI have sold me counterfeit goods. The first occasions a pair of Gucci trainers when I had them checked the we a rip of the original. When I contacted them they asked me to send them back and quickly offered me a refund not admitting the item they themselves had sent me was a counterfeit.
The weekend I was a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes I was surprised at the price and the deducted a further £60(where can u get a brand new pair of LV for £220) again they were the seller.
I firstly checked them with 2 pairs I had the difference was astonishing the dust bag was a different colour and material, the stitching at the front of the shoes was different the logo inside should be slightly raised this was flat and the worst of all the letters on the box were wrong. This would have been obvious to anyone let alone their statement we have persons who are trained to authenticate with 10 years experience they obvious mean 10 years old.
When I advised them sent them photos I spoke to a defiant man who said we are dealing g with a supplier in bulk to get rid of their stock saying they’re all genuine. Forgetting maybe they’re slipping some counterfeits pairs in and cos you are partners you not doing the correct checks.
My mom took them in to the designer exchange store and the confirmed I’d been ripped off. They were quite surprised to hear this if HEWI.
I sent them photos confirming it was what they had delivered and they still stating oh they’re genuine but please send them back.
I have bought other items from them and always have them checked.
I will not be sending them back this time HEWI need to face the consequences of selling fake items”
“Totally ridiculous, there is no customer support, it depends which of the office drones is doing approval, most of them often do not seem to be bothered and reject items with the most stupid auto responses. You have to remind them to send you your money as they sit forever on it, staff seems to be forever changing....
I usually only list there as an "aside" as on most other designer websites items sell faster, with HEWI you have zero customer service, zero help, a really bad website with tons of problems, yet you pay one of the highest commissions.... Naturally people charge more for their items because they take the biggest cut (for doing basically nothing)”
“HEWI do not have grasp on what service they are offering. They do not follow their own terms and conditions. I have arranged to take legal action with 2 of my items. The first the item was sent back to me with a hole after the buyer stated it was received fine. Yet it’s my fault I was offered £15 to repair a visible hole in a £1000 brand new Gucci jacket. They having nothing in place to deal with cases like this although their own policy advises differently.
Second time I sent a bag the buyer has had it now 5 weeks which should have been returned after 14 days. I knew the buyer would not been returning the item as she kept sending messages after receipt for a further reduction. I wasn’t aware it was the same buyer who had sent me 12 message re a dress I was selling she knew was 2 sizes smaller than she required. I am going forward with my legal action as HEWI wrongly advised me if their own return policies”
“Dishonest company. They sent me a fake item that did not match pictures in listing at all. They asked me to send the item back and promised to refund the return shipping ($60 from California to London) upon receipt of the item. One month later, they haven’t refunded the original purchase price or the return shipping and just stopped responding to all emails. They stole over $200 from me. Please beware!”
“Sold a white coat through HEWI, 2 days after the buyer got the coat, apparently there were stains that were not shown on my pictures (since they were not there then) and the "buyer" forced a return, I checked her out, on her social media there are pictures new pictures where she is wearing said coat while being with a bunch of friends, all waving cocktails and being quite "refreshed" - so I am getting back a coat that is damaged and somebody wore it, poured stuff over it and I am getting a damaged item back. Closing my account, I am not running a "borrow my item for free and return it ruined and I pay postage" thing, I just wanted to get rid of items that I don't wear and offered for very little”
“Would give zero, if I could. Purchased a pair of boots on 25 November from a ‘Silver Seller’ who claimed he posted them on 28 November by InPost24 but they have never arrived. Have spoken with InPost24, who confirm a tracking number was generated but the boots were never posted. I have to date, sent exactly 20 messages to the seller and HEWI support. For around the last 10 messages, HEWI support have responded by saying they are awaiting a response from seller, before providing a refund. HEWI do not appear to have grasped that the seller has not dispatched the boots and the seller is not responding to them. This has truly been the most appalling online shopping experience, I have ever had to suffer. Nothing comes remotely close. Fortunately, the boots were purchased through PayPal, who I am going to refer this matter to!”
“I am addicted to this website and so are my family.
An absolute must for everyone looking for something special to wear or for a gift.
Well done HEWI.”
