“Dear HotelGiftCard, I am absolutely furious about the experience I've had trying to book a hotel room with your so-called "gift card". I thought I would be getting a great deal, but instead, I feel cheated and misled. I went to your website to use my gift card, expecting a good deal. But what I discovered was downright ridiculous. The room I wanted to book, which was offered elsewhere on a comparison website for €170 including breakfast, was being offered on your site for a whopping €250 WITHOUT breakfast! How dare you? I feel like I've been taken for a ride. It was bad enough that I was restricted to using your platform because of the gift card, but to then have to pay for a room that's much more expensive than elsewhere is just outrageous. Your company has failed to provide fair and reasonable prices to your customers. I feel cheated and disappointed, and I will certainly warn others not to fall into your trap. You've lost a loyal customer, and I will do everything in my power to let others know about the deceptive practices you employ.”

“These cards are a huge ripoff! We went to book a hotel in Seattle. The price on Expedia was $280. The price on the hotel website was $320. Hotelgift’s price - $404!!! So dang mad! Reporting to BBB.”

“Prices are enormously higher compared to other booking sites so my voucher received as a gift is most likely a wasted gift. The performance of the platform itself is crappy. Pages load terribly sometimes and show broken images (It's not my browser or my connection because I was simultaneously using other websites too). This platform is not made to save you money or make your traveling experience better if you have a voucher. It's simply made to rub you off! I advise anyone to use other vouchers or gift ideas, because https://www.hotelgift.com is simply wasted money and more a frustration than a gift! I still have the code and for months I'm trying hard to use and will probably waste it for nothing.”

“Gift hotel est une entreprise qui ne tient pas ses engagements. En effet, l'entreprise de mon conjoint nous avez offert une carte cadeau gift hotel. Nous avons donc cherché une destination pour laquelle il était possible de trouver un hôtel à proximité d'un club de plongée. Nous avions donc retenu la destination de Nosy be et nous avions réservé un hôtel le 14 juin 2023 pour un départ le 19 novembre 2023 soit 5 mois à l'avance à 15 minutes du club de plongée. Le 16 octobre 2023 soit 1 mois avant de partir, gift hotel nous a tout bonnement annoncé que nous n'avions plus de chambre dans l'hôtel réservé. En effet, les hôtels qui travaillent avec gift hotel pratiquent le surbooking. Même si cette pratique n'est pas interdite, elle est grandement controversée et n'est pas à la hauteur d'une entreprise qui se fixe pour priorité, selon ses dires, un service client irréprochable. La solution proposée par gift hotel est un hôtel se trouvant à 40 minutes de route du club de plongée et du lieu de travail de nos amis qui travaillent sur Nosy Be. Bien que nous leur ayant signifié cette difficulté et l'impossibilité pour nous de faire 1h20 de voiture par jour tous les jours, aucune solution n'a été trouvée. La conclusion : si vous utilisez les gift hotel vous pouvez vous retrouver sans logement quasiment à la veille de votre voyage.”

“I won this gift of “free” hotel stay worth 1500.00 it was extremely difficult to find and book the prices on the hotelgift website are extremely inflated. If you don’t have a home computer it’s almost impossible to book. I would never use them if I had to buy a gift card for travel but since it’s free for me I’ll struggle through the booking process”

“Be aware that the booking charges are higher than you can get by booking direct and if you have any residual credit it doesn't seem to be easily applied to a second booking. Not to be recommended .”

“Terrible experience though the website, completely inflexible even in the case of a COVID case, hiding behind their "trusted" suppliers, and inflating prices. I've wasted $1,300 with them, couldn't enjoy my stay due to COVID, and all they did was hide behind their provider to refuse to refund, when the hotel themselves agreed to refund. Never use this, waste of time and money.”

“Although the website says 1000's of hotels to choose from, this is world wide. There are millions of hotels worldwide so I found choice very limited, or no choice at all, in specific places. Also, Hotelgift.com room prices were at least 30% more on their website compared to the same room on other well known sites. I understand that a profit has to be made, but these prices were extortionate.”

“SCAM COMPANY!! We had £650 on a voucher and tried to book and they have said already been used by myself in Dublin last New Year’s Eve !!!! I was working they are scam so so angry”

“Don't use these, they are no good. wasted hours of my time trying to book and complaining to them. they say they are not a scam but when the "book" button doesn't work and they make continued excuses for weeks on end. been trying to book something - anything - since around April 2022.”

“I wish there was a zero. Having received a £250 voucher and trying to use and noticing the horrendous hike in prices from the actual hotel websites to this companies pricing, it is horrendous. They are offering room only, with no cancellation option and no breakfast and charging a highly mark up on prices. On questioning their pricing and being told they have admin charges, which is understandable but not at £133 for one booking. I am back and forth with emails, with them offering different quotations and only given a 4 or 5 hour time slot for you to use the quote. Do they think that people don't work and sat at their emails awaiting quotes to accept within their time scale!! Its very sad that someone has paid £250 as a gift and the least so far that I can see is £133 they wont be getting of it. Never purchase from this company.”

“These "gift cards" are a joke. You can't use it like cash to pay towards a hotel like a standard gift card. You have to book through their site and pay whatever price they say it is. Also, the card expires after 2 years! You are much better off buying a Marriot or other branded hotel gift card that gives you lots of choices and no restrictions on how to use.”

“Bad customer service. Rate extremely high, its better to book directly from the actual hotel or expedia. Booking price from the a hotel directly is $558, expedia $680, and hotelgift $809, for same date and room type, so whats the point to book from hotelgift????”

“TERRIBLE! Do not purchase or trust. They don’t even have a customer service phone number to speak to anyone… seems very scammy to me. During a PANDEMIC they have expirations on their gift cards and then lock you in to a hotel EVEN IF YOU'VE BEEN EXPOSED TO COVID! Money-grubbing and INHUMAN. Do not purchase if you actually like your friends.”
