Disappointed. I bought 6 window inserts for my bedroom and living room that face a busy street. I don’t feel like they have made any difference, and possibly have made some sounds slightly louder than before. I’m not sure if having larger windows is why they don’t work as advertised, but after spending a lot of money on these I don’t think they were worth it at all. Also, if you have larger windows you will need two people to install them. I had to have my sister fly in for a visit to help me, which is annoying since they don’t even work. And on top of that I still have to figure out how to get rid of the large wood/cardboard packing materials they were delivered in.

Holly, Thanks for reaching out. We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing the sound reduction that you had anticipated. We are happy to help you troubleshoot the fit of the windows to ensure we are maximizing the noise reduction properties. Every sound environment is indeed unique, with sound sometimes entering through areas other than the window openings. In these cases, other soundproofing measures may be necessary. Thank you for pointing out that larger windows may require an extra set of hands. While our inserts are lightweight, it is useful to have another person available for larger inserts. As to the packing material, most areas offer convenient recycling for the cardboard and wood material in our packaging. For those options, you should check with your local municipality for offerings. We appreciate the feedback and certainly would appreciate the opportunity to ensure you are getting the most out of the inserts.

I was lucky. I shared pictures and measurements at their request...after which I heard nothing. Prices sound unreasonable. Question their customer service. They won't be around long.

Pete, We are so sorry to hear that received anything but excellent service from us. Our goal is to reply to all customer inquiries in a timely manner. I have researched your situation and I do apologize for the lag in response. I see that you emailed your Fit Specialist this prior Wednesday with dimensions and it has been one week without reply. His manager has been notified and you can expect a follow up from us tomorrow during business hours. We regret this experience and will work to prevent a future occurrence. Thank you for making us aware. Sincerely, Russ Eisenberg Vice President of Sales Indow Russ@indowwindows.com 503-284-2260

One window 52 inches wide and 49 inches high, over 600.00 dollars. A high grade hurricane proof, energy efficient window of the same size is less than half the cost. What am I missing, they advertise as a low cost alternative for noise and energy efficiency with no protection for adverse weather conditions. Look at alternatives people this is not anywhere near an affordable or an effective solution. It's a gimmick! A

Mr Mike, We welcome all feedback. We certainly stand by the value and performance of our inserts. Our independent performance tests, true cost analyses, and years of customer testimonials speak for themselves. For those wishing to explore the cost equation further, here is a good link comparing cost versus replacement windows: https://indowwindows.com/resources/storm-windows-guide/replacement/.

Overpriced, overrated gimmick - buyer beware! I had two window inserts installed in a room adjacent to a busy street in the hopes they would help drown out some of the road / traffic noise but have not noticed any significant noise reduction, whatsoever. In fact, the background noise somehow sounds slightly louder, if that's even possible. Maybe if they actually worked, the 'used car' sales process and extended (2-3 months) lead times might be worth it but they do not. Do not waste your $ or time!

Thanks for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing the sound reduction you had expected. While our independent studies and customer testimonials certainly speak to the effectiveness of our inserts, we openly acknowledge that all sound situations are unique. Depending on the interior environment, sound may be entering through areas other than the window openings and may necessitate additional soundproofing techniques. That said, we are always happy to troubleshoot the fit of your inserts to ensure that they are properly placed to maximize the sound mitigation properties. Because you worked through a dealer and not through a direct relationship with Indow, we will certainly make note of your feedback concerning the sales process. We would be happy to discuss any and all concerns with you directly. Thanks again for your engagement with us.

Terrible customer service: after I committed to spending $1500 on these products I was told they'd take 10 weeks to fabricate, which was confusing b/c I could order entirely new windows faster than that, but I just assumed they were backed up. In fact, they were not backed up at all, they were not producing any products. They were moving factories and did not disclose this during my order. The products I ordered ended up taking 24 weeks to come (half a year!). The installer was rude and sloppy. When I asked him to redo his crappy install job he gave me attitude then had the balls to hassle me for payment almost immediately. If it takes your company half a year to get me the products I ordered I will pay you when I damn well please, not immediately. The product once installed is good, but I would never recommend this company or product to anyone b/c of their terrible customer service.

Chris Thanks for the feedback. We are indeed sorry to hear that your experience was less than optimal. While we certainly understand the frustrations regarding the extended lead times, we would like to clarify a few issues. While we did change production facilities, this had only a minimal impact on the lead times, as production was only briefly interrupted. The unprecedented supply chain issues that we faced (including unique material shortages for acrylic and silicone) and labor shortages were the main reasons behind the extended lead times. We certainly acknowledge the impact that these extended timelines have had on our customers during this time. Thankfully, these supply chain issues have now begun to ease and we have begun to reduce lead times accordingly. Throughout these unprecedented and unpredictable times, we have done our very best to provide accurate information to our customers. We have also made note of the issues you brought up concerning this dealer and have escalated the issue to our management team for follow-up. While we cannot directly control the service of the third party, we take customer service concerns extremely seriously when determining ongoing relationships. We are happy to hear that you have no issues with the product itself or its effectiveness, rating it as a good product in your review.

I priced one window and the quote was $1,135.00 for the insert. The window size was 71 1/8" x 47 1/4". The window is new and a triple pane window and cost less than the insert. I wanted the insert because I live in a high wind area. I thought the inserts were supposed to be less than replacing a window. While they may have a good product, the cost was not affordable. I checked with another company that has a similar product and the quote was $40.00 for the same size window.

Norm, Thanks for reaching out. Just to be clear, the estimate you speak of is for our acoustic grade inserts which are designed to maximize noise reduction. Our standard grade inserts, which provide the same energy savings, but are not maximized for sound mitigation, are considerably less. Also, this estimate includes the handling fee for an oversize insert. When comparing our inserts versus replacement windows, one thing that is often overlooked is the cost of installation. Our inserts have zero installation costs, as they are quickly and easily self-installed without the need for additional prep work or hardware. While it is true that there are similar products out there at lesser price points, they are not truly comparable in terms of materials, design, durability, craftsmanship, and performance. Many of our customers are those that have tried other solutions and returned to us for a more effective, durable, and proven solution.

The lead time has been way too long. I was told they were shipped, I received this survey and I STILL DO NOT HAVE the Storm Windows.

Joe, Thanks for reaching out. We certainly understand that the extended lead times are a real concern. Supply chain issues have indeed persisted longer than expected and the strained state that shipping providers find themselves in has made things especially frustrating for all involved. We remain committed to doing everything in our power to get our customers their orders as quickly as possible in these unique times. This includes communication and clarification based upon the accurate timelines and available information. As you know, we have reached out to our shipping partners on your behalf and provided you with an update. Specific shipping service centers have been hit very hard recently, as with your order, which has led to delays in the last legs of your delivery.

Customer service is terrible. I had a virtual consultation. I thought I understood the question about frame depth but I did not. After receiving the laser kit I realized the window depth wasn’t substantial for the insert unless I removed the Roman shade; nor could I move the shade to accommodate the fit without it looking odd. I returned the kit to Indow and then was told for my stupidity I was would be charged $50 for shipping. When I asked about this charge being removed I was told no. Really awful customer service. If you are going to use virtual consults then you have to anticipate some errors. I guess anything to make a few bucks at the expense of the customer. Be really careful before ordering the kit.

Joanne, As always, we welcome feedback and engagement in our constant effort to improve our systems and policies. We are certainly sorry that the inserts did not end up being compatible with your situation. Our fit specialist are indeed trained to assess compatibility and explain the measurement process to you. This process also includes the information regarding the processing fee (to cover two-way priority shipping and handling costs of the laser-measuring kit) should the customer, as in your case, not proceed to order after measurement. For those who proceed to order, the full deposit is credited toward the order. We are committed to being honest and upfront in all aspects of our service and would respectfully disagree with this assessment of our service. That said, we take all feedback seriously and appreciate your engagement with us.

Joyce, We certainly understand your frustration and recognize that there have been complications with the shipping of your order. We remain committed to working with you and our shipping partners to rectify the situation. The supply chain and associated labor issues have affected both manufacturing and shipping industries tremendously. We fully understand the effect this has on our ability to serve our customers and will continue to work to meet these challenges. We appreciate your feedback and your engagement as we continue this work.

Unfortunately I am very disappointed in the product for numerous reasons. Shipping took almost 5 months and all I heard from the company was supply chain issues. Secondary, the product doesn’t work nearly as expected. It has dampened car traffic down some however the entire point of the product was to dampen the train’s horn from near my home. The product has done absolutely nothing for this and I am horrified that I spent a large some of money for see through plastic that doesn’t do much. Unfortunately I don’t suggest this product for anything for than a bit of traffic noise.

Justin, Thanks for the feedback. We are sorry to hear that your are not experiencing the noise reduction that your were expecting. All sound situations are different, as sounds can enter through materials/areas other than the window openings. We are available to troubleshoot the fit of the insert in order to ensure the sound dampening properties are maximized. As to the delays regarding manufacturing and delivery of the product, it is true that lead times and delivery were considerably affected by the supply chain issues involving both material distribution and labor (especially with acrylic and silicone). We have continued to take steps to minimize any delays within our control, but these unprecedented pandemic-related issues have continued to be at play. We understand the impact this has on our customers and remain committed to making and delivering our inserts as efficiently as we can. Once again, we appreciate your feedback and appreciate your engagement in the ongoing process of improving our systems and processes to better serve our customers.

Sidahmed, Thank you for the feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are not currently experiencing the sound reduction that you expected. We would love to work with you to ensure that the inserts are fitted and placed properly. While all sound situations are different, with other factors such as wall and other building construction materials having an effect, we remain committed to working with you to make sure our inserts are doing their part.

Honestly they did very little too absorb the outside traffic noise. ,they are very well made but too be quite honest way overpriced and took way too long too make.i expected them too block outside noise dramatically but did very little too stop the street noise and we purchased your top of the line window inserts...your product does not do at all what you say it does.small reduction in outside noise. but not enough too really make a major difference.

Tim, Thanks for the feedback. We are sorry and surprised to hear that you are not experiencing the noise reduction that our independent tests show and customer experiences support. We would love the opportunity to work with you to ensure the inserts have been installed correctly and are creating the proper seal and spacing to maximize the noise reduction properties. All sound situations are different. Indow inserts will reduce noise coming through the window openings, but it is not uncommon to require additional noise mitigation for other areas of entry such as walls, doors, soffits, etc. Thank you for the mention on build quality. We remain committed to providing well-built solutions that provide energy and noise savings at a reasonable cost.

We spent over slightly over $1000 just for a front bay window. They are double paned. We were initially told that we would get 50% reduction, but later we were told "up to 40% reduction" of any road noise". There was absolutely no improvement in the reduction of road noise. Anything with low frequency noise (tractor trailers, rumbling truck exhaust, motorcycles) were at the same level as before the installation (as determined by a sound meter). Delivery time was expedited when it was found that the dealer delayed sending in the order, so that was good. Customer service was OK, e-mail responses usually within 24 hours We prepared 3 other windows (at some expense) to widen the trim area to fit the anticipated Indows per the dealer's recommendation, but we're not going to order any new Indows due to the results we got from the first set. Not impressed with the results, costs, etc. of this product. I would love to get some sort of refund for this expenditure.

Thanks for the feedback. While every sound situation is different and low frequencies are the most difficult to mitigate, we are surprised to hear of your experience. We would love the opportunity to work with you to ensure the inserts have been installed correctly and are creating the proper seal and spacing to maximize the noise reduction properties. Indow inserts will reduce noise coming through the window openings, but it is not uncommon to require additional noise mitigation for other areas of entry such as walls, doors, soffits, etc. Both Indow and our resellers around the country do our best to assess spaces to provide the best recommendations along this journey.

I ordered my insert on April 28. I was told a 10-week turnaround time, then a 12 week, then 14 weeks. It has now been 15 weeks, and I keep getting told my insert should ship out next week. At this point, I'll believe it when I see it. It is affecting my business. Find another option. Not having a definitive delivery time is not a good way to do business, and you can't keep blaming it on the pandemic.

The order process has been a nightmare. I ordered April 26 and was told to expect about an 8 week turnaround. That quickly slipped to 10-12 and then up to 14. Finally, on July 28 I received an email that my inserts were complete and to expect shipping information within 1-2 business days. It is now August 10 and they have not shipped. Supposedly on top of supply chain delays, they poorly planned a facility move which further delayed orders. I hope I am completely blown away by the product but DO NOT recommend until they can fulfill orders in a timely manner. They also need to reconsider requiring a full deposit at the time of order when delivery times are completely unknown.

I still have yet to install these inserts in my living room. The process has been so difficult and I can't handle the inserts. Not only did the inserts take almost 4 months to make and ship, I have not been able to find the help I need to help me install these in my home. Also it made a very little difference to my bedroom noise. I felt I spent so much money on these and had so little return :(

These were a HUGE PAIN to measure for and did absolutely nothing to quiet our bedroom. They are worthless pieces of plastic and it's just as loud as it ever was. Furthermore, they were shipped in an enormous crate that the delivery man refused to bring even to our porch, let alone inside. We have no idea how to break down or dispose of this huge crate as it is way too big for the trash can and it's a bunch of large solid pieces of wood nailed together.

On October 20 we had our Indo window inserts installed. I am very frustrated. We have had a windy day yesterday and today and the side of the house where the window is blowing the wind blew the Indow window inserts out in the corner and on the side. I pushed it back and it popped out again. We are a three unit condo (2 units installed, 1 pending) with $26,000 of inserts and all three have the same problem. You must have other clients with this issue. What is the solution? Very unhappy here in Badgers Island Maine.
