“I was so hopeful that these inserts would make a difference with the traffic noise on our street coming through the windows but unfortunately I cannot tell much difference at all.”

Thanks for the feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing the noiose reduction that you had hoped for. From our records, it looks as though our fit specialist had previous conversations about the many variables involved in mitigating low frequencies. All sound situations are unique and sometimes require additional soundproofing techniques to help reduce sound (especially the low frequencies discussed) entering through areas other than the windows. That said, we would love the opportunity to troubleshoot the fit of your inserts to ensure your are getting maximum performance from your inserts.

“Indow was great to work with. Most of my questions I was able to self serve, and anything they didn't already have available they were very quick with thoughtful responses. Lead time was pretty close to what they quoted. The last mile delivery company in my area wasn't the greatest, but Indow followed up and followed through until the inserts arrived. Would 100% work with them again.”

“I live next to a very busy road and we have a lot of large construction trucks and other deafening vehicles frequently driving past. The traffic noise got so bad that it would sometimes drown out low noises inside the house, like quiet music or soft white noise. I purchased Indow's acoustic inserts knowing they would not block out all of this noise, especially since I only have about an inch of space between the windows and the inserts. But they still block out a lot of the regular traffic noise and dampen the rest to a point where my brain can tune it out. The inserts were easy to install and are not noticeable. And although there was a long wait for production and delivery, Indow has exceptional customer service, and they really went above and beyond to communicate with me and to ensure the inserts got delivered when I had trouble with the freight company.”

“Not the sound reduction I had hoped for from traffic. YOU should have a traffic noise video demonstrating how traffic noise would be reduced…that’s what I really needed…decibels are pretty pointless when you’re talking about noise. A sound demonstration would be more effective. Indows are quite pricey and your “no return policy “ screams buyer beware.”

While we have a SnugFit gurantee ensuring proper fit and a limited lifetime warranty covering manufacturing integrity, the many variables of each sound situation prevent us from offering a guarantee on sound reduction performance. Sound can enter through areas other than the window openings and construction materials in the walls, ceilings, etc. can necessitate the use of additional soundproofing methods in conjunction with our inserts. For this reason, our fit specialists work with customer pre-order to discuss the variablity of sound situations and are honest and transparent about the variability of sound performance. “Bought 8 inserts that were to cut down on my road noise. I live about 80 feet from a 4 lane road. One thing I didn't like about the company was after me telling them I would not be able to meet the driver due to the road traffic and me being a senior who has had 4 left knee surgeries the driver was never told about the road and my condition. The driver was nice enough to meet me at a Kohls's parking lot and he and my buddy got the inserts in our pickup. The wait for them to be finished was almost 3 months. The noise is reduced by about 65%. Still hear motorcycles and trucks with loud mufflers like before. After paying $2600 one would wish for more.”

While we are happy to her that the sound is being reduced within the 50-70% demonstrated in our independent tests, we share your concern about the devliery complications. The current strained state of shipping has left many gaps in communication. We have worked hard to fill in these gaps and provide solutions for our customers. We understand that the result required additional arrangements by you and the shipper to make it work. We appreciate the necessary efforts, but undertsand that it was not exactly as expected. “I don't notice much of a reduction in sound - just a little, but not sure it justified the price. The room is warmer though, that's helpful. The liner on the inserts ripped putting it in according to the directions. That was disappointing.”

Thanks for engaging with us. We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing the sound reduction that you expected. In our follow-up with you regarding this issue, it was explained that because each home and office provides a unique sound situation, sound reduction performance can vary. The construction materials in walls, etc. can allow sound to get in through more than just the window openings. Although our inserts have been independently tested to show their performance at reducing sound, depending on the environment, other soundproofing methods may be necessary due to the other variables in the home or office. We offer a SnugFit guarantee to ensure proper fit and a limited lifetime guarantee for manufacturing integrity. Due to the many variables in each unique sound environment, we cannot offer a specific guarantee on sound reduction performance. For this reason, our fit specialists work with customers before the sale to help the customer understand the variability of each sound environment. We are indeed sorry that our inserts were not the complete soundproofing solution you were hoping for. We certainly suggest employing other soundproofing techniques to work in conjunction with our inserts to help bring quiet into your home. “Overall, I think the inserts are an innovative idea to improve insulation in the house. However, I was expecting them to be thicker than what I received. The samples in the measurement kit is thicker than the actual insert.”

Gordon, Thanks for the review. We are surprised to hear that you believe the insert thickness does not match the samples sent with the measurement kit. The samples are indeed made from the same material used in the production of the inserts. We, of course, have no intention of providing anyone with any inaccurate information regarding our products at any time. Your order was placed for the standard grade inserts at nominally 1/8" thickness. Perhaps you are remembering the thickness of the acoustic grade (thicker) samples included in the swatch deck? “We received our Indow Window inserts and got them installed with no issues, installation was a breeze. We immediately noticed a difference in our home temperature and are so happy our purchase. We were very happy with the customer service especially guiding us through the process during our project allowing us to purchase half our windows first and then the other half at a later date. The inserts are very easy to pop in and remove, we noticed right away that no air was coming in and the touch to the windows is not very cold like it is on glass windows. We are very happy with the product service and delivery.”

“I'm basically pretty happy with the Indow inserts. It hasn't been long enough to tell if it will be reflected in my electric bill (I have baseboard heat in a 125-year old house) but it appears that it will make a difference. I notice the thermostat is lower, so fingers crossed. Most noticeably, I had terrible condensation on all of the windows in the house in the winter. It appears to be eliminated completely, which makes me very pleased. All in I would, and have, recommended them to my friends.”

“We live on a fairly busy and noisy street. The main reason why I thought these inserts were a good idea. Although they didn’t achieve 100% noise reduction it was a significant improvement over no inserts. Very appreciative of the product and the improvement in our quality of life. Keep up the good work.”

“They’re likely the best made acrylic window inserts you’ll find, but the price and lead time make them not worth it. I put a competitor’s product at 25% of the price and two weeks delivery schedule in the rooms that couldn’t wait the 3.5 months it took Indows to deliver, and I’m 75% as satisfied, so make of that what you will.”
