"Mountainwatch have always been informative and helpful. Zao Onsen however, is a little less travelled by Australians and MW were not as familiar with this area as they are with others.\r\nI found Zao's three main areas disconnected from each other. It was difficult to get around the entire resort without a lot of difficult traversing. The runs from the central \"Rope Tow\" for example did not get you back to the bottom of that tow but onto another area so getting home was tricky.\r\nThe accomodation was good with most staff very obliging as is the custom in Japan. Some, however, were less inclined to help. The location of the resort was advertised as a short 5 or 10 minute walk to the lifts but this was not the case. The roads were steep and difficult in ski boots. The free shuttle service did not operate whilst we were there. Bonus was the amazing barista coffee at the snowboard rental. An unexpected pleasure."
