“Everything about the whole process was really good. The consultant zuzana was very approachable every step of the way. I was reassured throughout the whole procedure. The clinic is very modern and clean. Everyone of the nurses was very caring and the surgeon explained the exactly what he was doing. I had a really good experience and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of having lens replacement. Thankyou praga medica”
“Really poor customer service.
Underwent surgery and after an initial problem - was able to receive no contact whatsoever with Praga Medica.
Should have gone elsewhere.
Avoid.”
“Excellent service throughout my whole stay. Excellent customer service care. I was emailed and called everyday to make sure I was feeling okay. At the clinic there are translators that make sure you are informed every step of the procedure. The procedure I had was tri focal lens replacement. No pain whats so ever. Very quick procedure. Would highly recommend this clinic to anybody who is thinking of having this procedure who might be quite nervous about going abroad.”
“Absolute nightmare experience!
*AVOID - POST 8 MONTHS*
Gynecomastia Removal Surgery: January 2024
On first arrival at the clinic - I was left feeling very uncomfortable when being examined by one of the doctors.. It was all very weird.
When in consultation with Dr. Lhotsky, I explained that I wanted the full gland removed from each side of my chest (which I also expressed before committing and making the trip..).
When raising concerns, had I known the attitude I was going to be met with, I would have gone elsewhere. I asked about the success rate, his response: "Well if it doesn't work that's not my fault".. Brilliant. Very reassuring.
It wasn’t a very welcoming consultation in the slightest.
As well as this, I also opted to have full liposuction carried out around that area.
This has been completely bodged and has left me with severe disfigurements.
Further to this, incisions were made inside of the areola.. Not along the bottom edge as described to me and therefore expected, these now look deformed.
Following the procedure, I was ignored by the first nurse when I complained about the excruciating pain I was in directly upon waking.. Outright refusing to give me any appropriate pain medication and walking away when I tried to speak to her.. I’m around 6’3” and 94kg in weight, 1 x 200mg paracetamol tablet does not have much effect on me unfortunately.
Eventually I was given some form of oral morphine solution. This should have been done at the beginning. Yet it wasn’t, either to save money, from lack of experience or negligence. Either way, I was left in severe pain.
I spent the night at the clinic, but again, not without problems.. The compression vest that was supplied was completely the wrong size. It was short in length barely covering my stomach and therefore ridiculously tight and uncomfortable - making it hard to eat and keep anything down. I mentioned this to a nurse but again, I was ignored.
When it came to being discharged, I had the drains removed.. This in hindsight seemed quite premature as the bleeding had not yet stopped.. I was shoddily “patched” up by one of the nurses, but it wasn’t adequate at all. I continuously bled and had to constantly change the dressings myself, several times in a day, giving the potential for an infection to occur in my still open wounds.
I called Praga Medica straight away, and after a few failed attempts, finally received a call back about an hour later, then explaining the issue with the compression garment being too small for me.
The person who's care I was under, had taken the day off without informing me of who to contact instead.
I was then told to retrieve a replacement myself whilst bleeding heavily and in pain, in the freezing cold snow, not feeling very well, when I should have been resting and recovering.
This should have been brought to me - or perhaps the correct size and care given in the first place?
(Also worth mentioning, upon arrival back at the clinic, I could see their shocked reactions to the results when changing into the new garment, having yet more dressings replaced that early on following the procedure).
The next day, on my flight home I was still bleeding excessively. Having to be moved to the front of the plane away from other passengers due to my excessive blood loss. Upon landing, my T-shirt was soaked through with blood, leading to me having to attend A&E in the UK via blue lights where I eventually collapsed.
Since then, I had four seromas occur, each having to be drained and the glands have completely, grown back.
I have also now been informed of what the breast department at my local NHS hospital described as ‘excessive scar tissue due to poor practise’.
Following this, I contacted Praga Medica for some sort of explanation and a refund!
No apology or refund has ever been received, one agent even had the cheek to laugh when explaining the experience I had to endure.
I have written several times to the owner, Mr. Dvorak who has failed to respond or call me back as requested.
Con Artists! Avoid!”
“I decided to get lens replacement treatment and initially priced it at home in Dublin. The high costs made me reconsider, and I thought I'd stick with glasses. Then I found Praga Medica online, sent an email, and decided to go for it.
The communication via email was excellent, with all my questions answered promptly. My consultant was very lovely and arranged my hotel, provided a driver to pick me up at the airport, and arranged a free taxi to the clinic the next day.
On Monday morning, I underwent extensive tests for about 3.5 hours. I returned on Wednesday for the surgery. The staff was brilliant, prepping me for about 40 minutes. The surgery itself took only 15 minutes, and it was completely painless. I have a very low pain threshold, and I felt no pain at all.
The next day, my eye patch was off, and so were my glasses. I couldn’t believe how quickly and effectively the procedure worked. I had a check-up on Thursday afternoon and returned for my other eye on Friday. Now, I no longer need glasses, and my vision continues to improve as everything heals.
For the cost, it was worth every penny. The procedure was totally painless, and the results are fantastic. If you’re considering lens replacement or laser treatment, look no further than Praga Medica. I can't recommend them highly enough.”
“If you're considering Refractive Lens Replacement with Praga Medica, do it. Worried about traveling to Prague? Don't be. I had Trifocal Lenses fitted, and it was one of the best decisions I've made. The experience was hassle-free, from airport pick-up to drop-off, all arranged by Adam of PM. The 4* Panorama Hotel was excellent, conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the clinic, with a great shopping center and plenty of restaurants nearby.
I flew in on Monday and had a thorough eye exam on Tuesday, followed by a consultation. My left eye was done on Wednesday, and my right eye on Thursday, with checks each day. My vision was blurry initially but improved quickly. Now, five weeks later, I see brilliantly without glasses.
Praga Medica and Adam were incredibly professional, and the clinic was top-notch. I highly recommend them and am planning to return for my wife's procedure later on this year. Plus, Prague is a beautiful city to explore during your stay. Five stars!”
“I recently underwent cataract surgery with Praga Medica in Prague, and I couldn't be happier with the entire experience. From the moment I reached out to them, the team at Praga Medica demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and genuine care that exceeded my expectations.
Their communication was impeccable, promptly addressing all my inquiries and concerns, providing detailed information about the procedure, accommodation options, and post-operative care. This clear communication instilled confidence in me right from the start.
The cataract surgery itself was a seamless process, thanks to the highly skilled and experienced medical team at Praga Medica. They explained each step of the procedure thoroughly, alleviating any anxieties I had. The surgery was conducted with precision, and I experienced minimal discomfort throughout.
Post-surgery, the follow-up care was exceptional. The team ensured that I received the necessary instructions for optimal recovery. They were readily available to address any concerns I had, providing ongoing support until I was fully recovered.
Not only did Praga Medica provide top-notch medical care, but they also facilitated a wonderful experience in Prague. I had the opportunity to explore this beautiful city, thanks to their efficient scheduling and thoughtful arrangements.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Praga Medica to anyone considering medical tourism for cataract surgery or any other procedure. Their professionalism, expertise, and personalized care truly set them apart. My vision has significantly improved, and I am immensely grateful to the entire team at Praga Medica for making this possible.”
“Outstanding Experience!
I recently underwent a breast enlargement with Praga Medica, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Despite initial concerns about having surgery abroad, the entire process was seamless. From the excellent care provided by my consultant to the top-notch facilities at the clinic and hospital, everything exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Praga Medica to anyone considering cosmetic surgery. 5 stars!”
“What a pleasure coming to the clinic for lens replacement, when this is new to you you just go with what is said or you read. From the emails to the airport pick ups hotel recommendations by the clinic, all the hotel staff but most importantly the praga medica staff from the time you walk through the door, right through all the professionalism carried out by everyone getting eyes tested, operated on, you couldn’t be more relaxed for such a scary surgery(eyes), painless and the aftercare well explained👌👌, it was all made so effortless for my self to do, I would do it all again, thank you so much for everything, bye bye glasses 🙂🙂🙂”
“I would definitely recommend Praga Medica. I cannot fault the service and care I received. I was hesitant at first about going abroad, but I needn't have worried. Everything ran smoothly from being picked up from the airport, taken to the hotel, being met and shown the way to the clinic which was just a short walk away, having an interpreter at each examination, having everything explained, the surgery itself, and follow up contact afterwards, brilliant service and care throughout. Thank you, and highly recommended.”
“Praga Medica exceeded all my expectations! I can't praise their service and attention enough. Initially, I had reservations about seeking treatment abroad, but those worries vanished the moment I experienced their seamless operation. From the moment I was greeted at the airport to being escorted to my hotel and guided to the clinic just a short stroll away, every step was meticulously planned. Having an interpreter present at each examination was immensely reassuring, and the thorough explanations provided me with a sense of confidence throughout the process. The surgery itself was conducted with utmost professionalism, and the follow-up care was nothing short of exemplary. I am deeply grateful for their brilliant service and unwavering care. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Praga Medica to anyone seeking top-notch medical care abroad. Thank you immensely for the exceptional experience!”

“In early March 2020 I paid the equivalent of £4k for replacement lenses surgery in both of my eyes at the DuoVize Clinic in Prague. Whilst the clinic itself, and all the staff, were wonderful, especially Marie, the overseas treatment consultant, the end result to my eye sight was unfortunately not. I was told that the initial blurriness I experienced after surgery would disappear over time, however over two and a half years later my eyes have never recovered, and my sight in both eyes is worse than even before the surgery. I returned to the clinic in August 2021 for a check-up, and was told that they could adjust the lenses with an excimer laser and my vision would be corrected. However, for this I would have to arrange another trip to Prague and pay them a further 500 to 700 euros per eye, dependent on the type of treatment I would have. As they made such a poor job of the original surgery, I was not impressed they wanted more money to correct their original mistakes. I would not recommend this clinic with such a vital life-changing surgery. I now have to wear stronger glasses than I ever needed before.”
“Had tri focal toric lenses fitted to both eyes at the beginning of the year, problems literally from day one with halos and blurred vision. Had to make a return trip to Prague after 6 months only to be told that they wanted to remove the fitted lenses and fit a replacement at my cost… so much for a guaranteed service and being glasses free…. Now my eyesight is substantially worse and I now have to wear two different prescriptions just to be able to function. Praga Medica basically washed their hands of me offering no real help or aftercare… I wouldnt recommend them for anything.”
“After 2 years of serious consideration regarding lense replacement,
I did a lots of research on various companies and read reviews and information on the internet and my local opticians.
I went to optical express in Crawley and they were quoting £7k for the tri focal lense which was the one I needed.
I found this to be very expensive and could not afford such an expense.
So I decided to venture abroad and ultimately chose Praga Medica in Prague to do the treatment at a considerably cheaper price of £2400.
I booked the dates 17th to 21st December 2019 and paid a deposit of €300.
I booked my flights from Stansted airport return for £100 through Ryanair and I paid for the extra luggage options £28 return.
Praga Medica offered me a choice of hotels and collection from the airport also but I decided to go my own option and get a taxi which was £40 return and an air bnb whole apartment in Prague 4 for £175 for 5 nights.
Although I travelled alone it could sleep Upto 6 people and had everything I needed.
When I arrived in Prague
I used google maps to find the medical building which was a short 20 minute walk from the apartment.
Upon arrival on the morning of 17th December I was asked for ID and gave them my passport.
I was then asked for the letter of consent from my gp. This was done by my GP the week before at a cost of £40.
It consisted of an ecg, urine analyse and full blood count and blood pressure etc.
I was then asked to fill in a consent form asking me general questions about my medication and history.
A pleasant lady named Marie introduced herself and stayed with me throughout the whole process.
She kept me entertained and made me laugh a few times.
There were four rooms and
all had the latest technology for testing your eyes to determine the correct lenses for the procedure. Also to determine whether you are suitable or not.
They did each eye with absolute precision and were extremely professional and careful.
It was like being in an optician’s but far more advanced.
At the end of this process I was seen by a doctor who discussed the best options for me to decide which one to choose. I opted to have a tri focal lense and have the standard operation as opposed to the new laser treatment which was €1300 more expensive. It’s not about the cost for me I just think this was my preferred option.
The place was spotlessly clean and every care was taken to keep it that way with the use of sterile wipes and gloves etc. The machinery was up to date with the latest technology.
The whole process took around 4 hours and it went very quickly. Tea, coffee and water was offered throughout.
I asked if I could have my eyes done on consecutive days
So that I could get it done and out the way as I booked to stay for 5 days.
I now have an extra day to visit Prague and the Christmas market and shops.
This was granted to my delight as they had a spare space the following day.
My first eye was being operated the next day 18/12/19 at 9.30am.
I arrived in the morning and was taken to a room where a nurse asked me to take my shoes off and put on some crocs.
I was then led to a changing room to change my clothes ready for surgery.
I brought my tracksuit bottoms and t shirt to change into.
I was then asked to sit in a chair and they took my blood pressure.
They then put on a mesh hat and started to give me some eye drops to widen the pupil.
I was offered water and a calming pill. I drank the water but refused the pill as I wasn’t sure what it was. The lady nurse just said it was a calming pill but I don’t really think she knew either. There were 4 others there also and two others took the pill.
I didn’t think I would benefit from taking it anyway as I’m not the nervous type.
The drops continued for around 30 minutes then I was given the local anaesthetic. This came in the form of drops also.
I had six drop doses in total and by the last drop I couldn’t feel the drops going in.
I was then asked to put on some plastic shoe covers and an apron and was then led into the operating Theater.
The surgeon introduced himself on entry to the room and shook my hand which was nice.
I was asked to sit on a reclining chair and given a stress toy which was a cuddly pink pig. I laughed at this but it did help a little I must admit.
I was more apprehensive than nervous.
The chair was laid back electronically and they put a support under my knees.
They put a sterile sheet over my face and exposed the eye.
They swabbed my eye with sterile liquid and then the nurses started clamping the eye open.
There were three of them and they were very polite.
The surgeon then came over and started the operation.
He asked me to look straight up and stare at three lights. There was some juddering and movements and my eye was moving left and then right. The surgeon told me to keep looking at the three lights which I did. I absolutely couldn’t feel a thing. The surgeon said I may feel a little pressure but I didn’t really feel that either.
After a couple of minutes I couldn’t see the lights anymore just a blank mesh and white bright light.
I assume that my lense was now removed.
The new lense was then implanted and I could just make out the three lights again. A little more movement and mild pressure and then a white dressing patch was applied.
A totally painless experience I felt a sigh of relief and it was over.
I was then sat up and the surgeon came over and told me that it had gone well and one of the nurses took a photo of me with the surgeon.
I was then taken back to the waiting area and offered a choice of pictures of Prague which was a nice touch.
They gave me the photo and some eye drops with full instructions on what to do iver the next four weeks.
I was told to keep the patch on until the following morning. Then apply the eye drops 5 times a day for the 1st week.
The next two weeks 3 drops a day and then 2 drops for the final week.
I was told I couldn’t get any water near my eye to prevent bacteria infection and I am not allowed to do physical activity or swimming for 2-3 weeks.
I met two other guys and we all had a drink after the surgery in a cafe next door. It was quite funny because we stood out like sore thumbs with eye patches on!
People were staring a little but who cares! I certainly didn’t.
I then went back to my apartment and had a rest.
I went to bed later that evening and woke up at 5.30 am with the excitement of taking my patch off.
I went to the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror and started to slowly peel the patch off. To my amazement I could see the instructions on the eye drops bottle.
I was expecting some bruising but nothing! My eye looked completely normal.
I had a slight flickering to the right side but I was told by the doctor that it’s normal and the lense was settling down and would clear in a few days.
I went for my check up the next day and they used two machines and did an eye test to make sure all was ok.
They also did a distance reading test and close reading test and I passed both with flying colours.
I then went straight to the operating area after my check up and had my second eye done. It was the same as before.
I asked Marie on the first day if I could have my eyes done on consecutive days and she asked and that was agreed.
It gave me an extra day to enjoy Prague after my surgery was completed.
On the final check up on the 20th December they used the two machines again and did a reading test again and I managed to read the distance letters easily and the smallest text on the reading card.
The doctor said she was happy and recommended that I visit my local opticians in a month to get a check up.
I have to say that I would highly recommend Praga Medica (Duovise eye clinic section) if your thinking of having the treatment. I am amazed at my results and I am writing this glasses free!!! Steve Long”
