“I call Midland Van Lines and talked to Robert in reservations. Robert quoted us to complete a full service 4800 square foot house for a 1320 mile move out of state. We were quoted a cost of the move which was to be a "dedicated" trailer with direct delivery to our new home with to storage. When the pack out crew was completed, the supervisor of the crew added extra monies to the quote due to additional items being packed and having to shuttle the box truck to the trailer located miles away. We were then told by the supervisor that they would deliver in two days. We departed the following day and arrived at our new home a day ahead of the delivery. On the day of deivery, we recieved a call from dispatch that we were not getting our delivery due to Midland's bank holding our check for 7 days!!!! Unacceptable! That should have been told to us prior to paying the 70% at pickup. we would have wired the money instead. Five days later, we received our household goods and noticed that the trailer had our possessions packed loosely and had previously had other household goods in our trailer. None of our household good were tagged or marked so there's a real problem to start with. We paid 40K for a dedicated trailer!!! What the hell?? Not only did we pay too much for this move, we lost/had broken alot of our possessions . One item in particular was a heirloom rocking chair which has been in m husbands family for over 200 years that cannot be replaced. We did not file a claim because at .60 per pound is ludicrous. A $200 coffee maker weighs 10 lbs, so you get $6. So not counting the rocking chair, to replace the items that were lost or damaged is going to cost us over $1800 to replace. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! For the price we paid, we should have had perfect service, which we did not.”

“Do not use this company. Terrible customer service. They damage your items due to careless handling and do not reimburse the customer for damage. They lost our treadmill with no compensation. The price they quote is less than half of what they actually charge. Do not use this company.”

“We purchased the full packing package moving from FL to NC - Items were thrown into boxes plates with a steam iron (all crushed) 30 wine glasses broken, a $2500 vase shattered (told us they had professional art packers). Big furniture damage, broken lamps, missing ladder missing tools - Found out they subcontracted the move to a FL mover who then subcontracted to Sunshine Relocation - HORRIBLE experience, we documented all of the damage and the insurance said $200 and sign a complete waiver - do not use these people ! Original price was $12,000 final price after 2 increases was $32,000 (Bait and Switch)”

“Buyer beware... they practice the old bait n switch routine. Even with a very accurate inventory, they will waaay under estimate your charges to get your business and then the driver comes up with a true figure that's more than double. Now your belongings are already on the truck and you've wasted several weeks since signing the contract. What choice do you have now?? And it's all in the contract that the cubic feet estimated by sales person may need adjusting. Hahaha. More than double is insane”

“Lost items furniture was scratched. Electrical bed was left unattached, said they would be back on Sunday. Never came. Never got a slip with label of items. So I could not make a claim. Box of clothing for Army man. My cousins son in-law was in the service and still had contacts. Man was found in Mississippi shipped his clothing.”

“They are the f——ing worst. They misplaced my mattresse from my bed, then had the damn audacity to ask if there was a mattress to which, I responded NO, I slept on the boxspring. There were other boxes missing and when you attempt to rectify the situation all you get is the run around. The women in the office tell you that you have 90 days to put in a claim for list items but, then say it .60cents on a $1.00. They neglect to tell you any of that prior to signing the contract. The person who delivered my furniture on the other end was very unprofessional, put an Ad on Craigslist to have guys meet him at my home to help unload the truck. Sloppy; buyer beware of this company. The salesman in the office are good at their job but, that’s where it ends”

“If I could give 0 stars I would. I moved from Idaho to Tennessee on August 12th. Same day Midland Van Lines (mind you one of the top-rated moving companies in the country) picked up my things. It's currently day 34, 21 business days, and my things are in an undisclosed location in the United States. Over the past 10 days, we have talked to 9 people including 2 supervisors who can not give us an answer. All 9 of them promised a return call and not one of them called us. I am on day 34 in an otherwise empty apartment except for my air mattress and laptop. ATTENTION PARENTS!! If you are sending your child across the country, do not hire this company. Rent a U-Haul, or put your things in a Radio Flyer and pull them it will be faster. I am now on day 35. My things have been sitting in a storage unit in UTAH since August 12th. Mind you this is 3 hours away from my hometown. They also don't have a driver scheduled to deliver my things and they never have.”

“I just moved cross country from Philadelphia to Colorado. Looked for moving companies this past winter to try and prepare and maybe get a better rate. Contacted Midland van lines after a few google searches and reading websites and the customer service/sales person I talked to was great. He was very responsive and flexible and explained that because I booked in February, I’d get a discounted rate. A few days later I had a phone call for about 30 min. Where I went over all the inventory they should expect to pick up and move to calculate approximate square footage. I always oversell how much I have because I know boxes and things add up so I hold them in detail every piece of furniture from my 1-bedroom house and they quoted me around 8,000. I thought this is expensive but it’s cross country and for the ease of not having to transport all my things and drive a big truck on the highway it seemed necessary. 2 more phone calls confirmed the inventory and estimate. Day of the move They loaded the truck and found that the space needed was roughly 50% more than originally quoted moving the sum to over $12000. But at this point it was either pay the extra $4000 or lose the $3500 deposit I had paid. I left on Thursday and arrived on Saturday and then the communication was almost non-existent. someone called me 14 days later telling me that they’d be there in a few days. then they asked me if an 18 wheeler would fit in my lot and I said i don’t know and warned them of a sharp turn to get into the lot. 3 days later (3rd Sunday after the move) they arrive with an 18 wheeler and say that because it can’t fit in the lot, I have two options: 1. ⁠Go myself to rent a smaller U-Haul/truck and they will load things onto it, but then I have to drive it to my apartment and unload everything myself (I am not strong enough to move my furniture by myself) or 2. ⁠Pay $1200 for them to go rent a smaller truck and shuttle the stuff for me from the 18 wheeler to my apartment. So the original total of $8000 is now $13000. Last kicker and most devastating is that I’m a jeweler and the only box missing was the one with all my jewelry and metal work from the last decade. Easily over $35,000 in value and they couldn’t help at all. Just told me to file a police report.”
