If I could give 0 stars I would. I moved from Idaho to Tennessee on August 12th. Same day Midland Van Lines (mind you one of the top-rated moving companies in the country) picked up my things. It's currently day 34, 21 business days, and my things are in an undisclosed location in the United States. Over the past 10 days, we have talked to 9 people including 2 supervisors who can not give us an answer. All 9 of them promised a return call and not one of them called us. I am on day 34 in an otherwise empty apartment except for my air mattress and laptop. ATTENTION PARENTS!! If you are sending your child across the country, do not hire this company. Rent a U-Haul, or put your things in a Radio Flyer and pull them it will be faster. I am now on day 35. My things have been sitting in a storage unit in UTAH since August 12th. Mind you this is 3 hours away from my hometown. They also don't have a driver scheduled to deliver my things and they never have.

I just moved cross country from Philadelphia to Colorado. Looked for moving companies this past winter to try and prepare and maybe get a better rate. Contacted Midland van lines after a few google searches and reading websites and the customer service/sales person I talked to was great. He was very responsive and flexible and explained that because I booked in February, I’d get a discounted rate. A few days later I had a phone call for about 30 min. Where I went over all the inventory they should expect to pick up and move to calculate approximate square footage. I always oversell how much I have because I know boxes and things add up so I hold them in detail every piece of furniture from my 1-bedroom house and they quoted me around 8,000. I thought this is expensive but it’s cross country and for the ease of not having to transport all my things and drive a big truck on the highway it seemed necessary. 2 more phone calls confirmed the inventory and estimate. Day of the move They loaded the truck and found that the space needed was roughly 50% more than originally quoted moving the sum to over $12000. But at this point it was either pay the extra $4000 or lose the $3500 deposit I had paid. I left on Thursday and arrived on Saturday and then the communication was almost non-existent. someone called me 14 days later telling me that they’d be there in a few days. then they asked me if an 18 wheeler would fit in my lot and I said i don’t know and warned them of a sharp turn to get into the lot. 3 days later (3rd Sunday after the move) they arrive with an 18 wheeler and say that because it can’t fit in the lot, I have two options: 1. Go myself to rent a smaller U-Haul/truck and they will load things onto it, but then I have to drive it to my apartment and unload everything myself (I am not strong enough to move my furniture by myself) or 2. Pay $1200 for them to go rent a smaller truck and shuttle the stuff for me from the 18 wheeler to my apartment. So the original total of $8000 is now $13000. Last kicker and most devastating is that I’m a jeweler and the only box missing was the one with all my jewelry and metal work from the last decade. Easily over $35,000 in value and they couldn’t help at all. Just told me to file a police report.

LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES!!!! MIDLAND WAS THE WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE!!!I could get into a long winded review, about how this move was (and still is) a disaster, but all I can tell anyone else is simply go read the other 1 star reviews. Their experiences mimic mine. Overcharged, and have no idea when my belongings will get here, if at all. Phone calls and emails not being answered. Same things everyone else is writing in 1 star reviews. My advice to anyone, is to get the PODS moving and storage. In many states, the Pod is on a truck and is basically a truck, that you can load yourself. The pod is eventually taken off your truck and shipped with other pods near your destination. I actually had this as a backup and chose Midland instead, worst mistake of my life.

The movers came a day early July 29th, quoted us twice the price when they got there, was supposed to deliver our things on the 1st of August. Have left multiple texts, multiple voice messages. Won't return our calls, even blocked us foe awhile. WE HAVE NOTHING! WE ARE SENIORS!

This is absolutely THE worst, most unprofessional company I have ever worked with. They do not communicate. The company is so poorly run that they lost the address where my belongings were to be delivered. When I actually do connect with a live person, I get the same tired runaround. Anyone that is considering using these idiots are better off renting a U-Haul truck and doing the job themselves. The 21 day waiting period has come and gone- my stuff is sitting in some wear house in Arizona- farther away from me than when we started.

OMG- EVERYTHING went wrong! DO NOT USE!! They promise things and do not deliver. They lacked communication (unanswered calls and emails) on timing of pick up and delivery (they called a few hours ahead with no advance warning, although they say they will give you a 1-3 day heads up) and we got charged more money on BOTH pick up and delivery! They literally DUMPED our furniture without setting it up, asked us to take all the blankets and tape off, lost a few of our items and the boxes arrived smashed with contents (dishes and glassware) broken in pieces. I have photo and video proof! When I booked they assured me they were NOT a broker and the truck would be a midland van lines truck; however, the truck that arrived wasn’t (it was Ryder), the paper work said “Back Up Movers, LLC”, and the movers were wearing shirts that said ‘capital city movers’. The truck that picked up our belongings was not the same truck that delivered our stuff and our belongings had obviously been thrown around and carelessly transferred. These people are scammers, they don’t care about you or your belongings AT ALL. Their website is complete BS - Trusted Partner…NO. Unpacking Services…NO. Secure Transport…NO. Customer Support…NO. Use ANYONE else. This company needs to be reported and shut down!

I am currently in the middle of a move from Los Angeles to Denver and I can not stress enough, do not use this company. They have had out stuff for over 4 weeks and we still have not received it. We call daily and they have no update, no one will return our calls. From the bottom of my heart, PLEASE DO NOT USE Midland Van lines.

Losing $145,000 to a scam shattered me. I felt helpless and completely broken. That’s when I found Mrs. Mercy. Her team’s professionalism stood out right away. They didn’t sugarcoat anything—they gave me a clear roadmap and followed through with constant updates. I didn’t expect much, but they came through and recovered a large amount of what I lost. Their support made all the difference.

I was a potential customer with Midland Valines. I went through the paperwork with a man named Luke and submitted my downpayment but they were unable to process my payment for over a week. I called several times to check on the status to confirm it went through and was told my payment was processed three times when it was not. I had to cancel my order and was treated HORRIBLY by a man named "Russell". He hung up on me after I requested a confirmation of my cancelled order and yelled at me over the phone, "You're not receiving any of that!" He didn't listen to me and he kept interrupting me as I was trying to explain why I wanted to cancel. He was pure evil and I hope they record their conversations. You'd think a business would want to be paid but they seemed so unprofessional and unorganized. I don't recommend them at all.

Don't use this company. The number you call is just a salesman. They give you an estimate over the phone. Then they subcontract out your move. When those subs come to move your stuff they add $$. The subs were efficient but the price doubled from the quote. I was also told I would get a refund for extra wrapping I was charged for. But Midland said the movers would refund and the movers said Midland would refund. I feel I was cheated. Never got a refund.

The actual moving expense was 50% higher than what was quoted - they added charges for everything, and there was no consistency from person to person. One person told us moving bags were OK, the next charged us for boxes, packing tape, and labor to put the packing bags into. We were charged for extra distance when the truck was parked at the front of my building. They charged us to rent a box truck when the delivery address was known - if there were extra fees, they should have been built into the contract, not added on again and again. The salesperson who created the agreement said it would not go higher than 10% if nothing changed on our end - nothing did change - our items were what we communicated, so were the pick-up and delivery locations. It was 50% higher!

Deceitful business practices. Buyer beware before signing anything. IF you want to wait for your belongings for long periods of time, and feel comfortable having your stuff sitting in storage for weeks at a time, this is the company for you. BUT, if you are looking for a moving company to move your stuff state to state-FORGET ABOUT IT. A normal 2 day trip will take them 30. Save yourself the frustration of multiple phone calls, not to mention the fact that they DOUBLE CHARGED on arrival what they quoted. NOT A COMPANY I WOULD EVER DO BUSINESS WITH IN THE FUTURE.

Do not use this company. They are not a moving company, but rather a broker that outsources the job to low-quality third-party contractors. They use day laborers for packing and moving, and the service you receive is far from what is promised. Initially, they provide a reasonable quote, but once your belongings are loaded, they significantly increase the price. In our case, the estimate jumped from 1,500 to 4,200 cubic feet on the spot, claiming we needed more space. However, after delivery, it was clear the actual volume used was only 3,200 cubic feet. When I contacted Gary Parker to discuss the discrepancy, I was told there would be no refund. To make matters worse, they attempted to tack on an additional $3,200 in unexplained charges. This company operates through deceptive practices and should be avoided at all costs.

If I could give this company a zero I would . The prices changes constantly and they hold your things hostage until you pay them . Also they don’t value your belongings, your things will be gone thru and your fragile boxes will be thrown around and broken. Think twice before you use this company.

My totes were gone through and in the process silver 4 bars were taken along with gold chains in my wife’s jewelry box. I wouldn’t ever give there name out as a moving company to use. From point of pickup they unloaded 3 times

Well, I have learned a $3200 lesson. I had contracted Midland movers with no exact date and it would be based on sale of my home. They put a sliding date of April to June. But, again, no definite date was set. So when I attempted to cancel since I no longer needed, they refused to refund or even consider a partial refund...even though absolutely NO services and NO packing materials were used or given. I have since learned that NO REPUTABLE moving company demands a down payment. NONE. And reputable movers stated that they would refund when no services were used by the consumer. BEWARE. DO NOT USE MIDLAND. FIND Someone else who does not demand a down payment. Any reputable will not have a down payment prior to move date. Look for these. The questions below: How easy to get a refund? Impossible. The only good is that I learned before I put my things in their hands. Look at reddit reviews and photos. I sure wish I had.

I guess I should have read the reviews first. So so so so many 1-Star. And I now have the misfortune myself of the same experience. What they tell you when they sell you and when they pick up and what actually happens is far from the truth. I was driven by the fact that they are family owned. But if this is true the family really does not care. They make their money and care very little for such a stressful time for most which is a move. They picked up from our house a week ago and we still cannot even receive an ETA on when we will hopefully get our belongings. The girl in the phone told me like I’m stupid “ Mam we cannot give you an ETA on the ETA”. Well that’s just great our option is to wait 21 days or more? Frustrated,Disappointed, does not begin to describe how we feel. And we still have to see if we actually get everything. The stress this company has caused is understandably one of the worst and I’m 60 years old so that says a lot.

Not happy with this company. Gave me a quote for $4,800 even after expressing the size of our appartment. On the day of the move the price doubled. Now we have to pay an elevator toll of 100.00 and an extra 75.00 for how many feet to the appartment. In all, we've paid an extra 5,000. Be careful with this company.

Sales were great, problem was moving day and being lied to by dispatch. I was told I needed a Semi for all my belongings, and a 26 ft truck showed up. I called and they assured me another 26 ft would be there. My furniture sat outside in the freezing weather for 10 hours waiting for a Semi to arrive, and it arrived at 2am. Since there was no furniture in the house, we sat on the floor in the house waiting for the Semi that was promised in the first place. This is all after my moving day being confirmed and it was delayed a day. They were very responsive to my messages UNTIL moving day and there was an issue. Now 30k in and NO responses to their lies and poor treatment. Moving is stressful and expensive enough without being lied to.
