Hi Ian, thanks for your comments and feedback. It seems that this mileage entry may have been incorrectly (manually) entered at the point it was sent to the DVLA, possibly by the MOT technician. We simply show the data we receive from the numerous sources and do not manually enter or edit the data. If you have bought this car and are worried that this may have a future impact on you, it might be worth contacting the National Mileage Register (ran by HPI) who can amend erroneous mileages if you have sufficient evidence. Thanks.

“There is no mileage history on the report. Also the seller is telling me that he still has outstanding finance on the vehicle but your report shows no outstanding finance. Luckily the seller was honest! How can I rely on your HPI report? A truly waste of money, I should be receiving my money back!”

“I wanted to find information regarding whether my vehicle had been a cat d car.the initial report did not tell me ,but it told me to call a number,I did so and spoke to a very helpful guy ,I think his name was Don,he gave me the information I needed,and explained what cat d meant,afterwards I had a better idea of what the value of the car was and how much I could sell it for.”

“Used this service for the very first time & must say very glad I did. Best tenner I've spent. Not only did it show up outstanding finance which the seller guaranteed it hadn'the but also showed as being cat D repaired. Cat D didn'the bother me so much but to think you could get your car lifted because of finance is not a nice thought. Well worth the money, saved me my hard earned cash. Definitely will use again.”

“I did a check on a car I was supposed to be viewing and it came back as finance owed. I told the seller, who was adamant all finance was cleared 5 months ago. He contacted his finance company who confirmed this and he did a HPI check of his own which also showed it as clear. I now may miss out on the car. Will not use again.”

“Basic check provides enough information for you decide whether to buy or not. Only thing is it doesn't include finance check and you have to register with My car Checkley within 30 days of joining or else they erase your car check!”

“I have used the free Mycarcheck app to run basic checks on vehicles in the past but chose to dig deeper on a car I was interested in buying. I chose the mid-priced service which provided a raft of details covering issues such as outstanding finance to VIN check. I am really pleased with the ease of ordering and paying for the check via PayPal and I received an immediate report followed up very quickly with an email confirmation where I was able to print the report for future records. There are cheaper services out there but for the sake of less than £10 against the car price of several thousand, it represents something of a bargain and one I would highly recommend. Although the company I am buying the car off will carry out their own HPI check, for me it just removes any lasting doubts about the authenticity of the car. Would highly recommend the service.”

As you're aware, the vehicle you searched is well over 80 years old, and as such, much of its history pre-dates some of the systems and databases where we get our data from. In instances such as this, vehicle provenance checks might not always be able to give you the information you need.
