“NatureSpy Ursus Trail Camera
I have a number of different trail cameras all bought at varying prices and all delivering different quality/characteristics. I would put this at the upper end both for quality and value for money.
All cameras are different - so while the Ursus takes good pictures you should be aware that the field of view is quite narrow compared to some others. Excellent to cover a long track but not so good if you are going for closeups.
Pictures not quite as good as the Browning (but the half the price) and I like the hybrid capture which you dont get on the Browning.
I have only one minor gripe - the SD card inserts with the connectors facing outward so extracting the card can be a might tricky.
So overall pleased with my purchase.”
“We are living it! It’s in our back garden and the birds, squirrels, foxes and badges all visit. We are hoping we will see otters soon.
Excellent buy.”
“Such a quick delivery and the website is easy to use. This is a replacement Browning camera for one that I have been using for many years - the old one finally packed up! Set up is quick and easy.”
“A very neat little unit. I was particularly keen on the solar charging to extend battery life. I've used cheap "budget" trail cams before and their battery life has always been shocking. This one seems well thought out and effective. Video and stills are clear and the interface is simple enough.
Note that "local wifi" means you can connect to the camera with your phone when you are near the camera i.e. the camera makes its own hotspot. You can't stream or connect remotely over the internet using your home wifi like the Birdcam Pro. I suggested the website text is clarified on this point. Also this has a different app to the excellent NatureSpy Birdcam Pro and WildCam.
Excellent service from the NatureSpy team. Fast delivery.”
Hey Andrew,
Thanks for the review. The webpage for this product says that the WiFi is local WiFi only in several places. The 3rd main 'features' section, entitled 'WiFi Managed', specifically says;
"You can connect to the Helarctos wirelessly, via a local WiFi connection.
When within 25-30ft of the camera, use the App to connect, download footage, change settings and see a live view."
The 3rd FAQ regarding the WiFi also says exactly how this works. There are 5 separate mentions of the local WiFi, including in the short description right at the top.
For an internet-connected WiFi product, that would be the WiFi WildCam 2. Its not a problem if you want to swap your camera to one of these - just get in touch with our team and we can sort.
Given it is mentioned so much, including quite explicitly how the WiFi works, I'm thinking you've maybe been too excited and clicked the 'Buy' button before reading the product info! If you would be so kind as to reconsider your review and rating that would be great, but no problem if not.
If there is anything you need, just pop us an email.
Thanks!
James
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the review. They sold out at Christmas, due to unprecedented demand. We have more on the way as soon as possible, and production has just finished.
Perhaps giving us 3 stars for that is a little harsh, if (and I hope you are) you are happy with the current camera you have... could I invite you to reconsider that, or is there anything else we can do?
Kind regards,
James
“Very pleased with the service as I needed help with my browning solar pack wasn't sure on the charging lights but a quick email to the team and all my questions were answered very quickly thanks to the team”
“Remarkably easy to set up and share with other members of the household. Night quality is excellent and battery better than expected too. Still find best for it. In urban Solihull we have seen badgers, foxes, all the neighbourhood cats. It survived being peed on by one of the foxes! Have also tried it on the bird feeder and get good day time results there.”
“Customer service is excellent and the fact they are non profit with the money being put back in to wildlife is the cherry on top. I always recommend NatureSpy”
