Fantastic hair cut as always, but blisteringly hot in the salon. After 30 mins in a hot plastic gown I left dripping with sweat! Time to get aircon!

I've been to the Fitzrovia branch of Pall Mall Barbers twice now and the first time was a fantasitc expericance. While both times I walked away with brilliantly cut hair the second time I came in I felt like i wasnt listened to. I came in asking for a 30min haircut costing £30 plus tip and now I'm wishing that I hadn't! Don't get me wrong the service is fantastic and the cut is sharp, but I came in with a specific look in mind and I shows the barber images of what I wanted and when she talked me through what she was planning on doing it sounded like what i was going for. It was't what I wanted but I didn't feel like I could critise the cut so I payed and walked away (much to my regret now). I think the main issue was that at no point during the cut was I asked if it was looking like what I wanted. I feel like my hairs been cut in a style that the barber wanted to do and not how I wanted it to be. I'm very disatisfied with this but unfortunaly for me I'll just have to book another appointment to sort this out... (so I guess thats a win for PMB as they get some more of my cash!) This definitely has put me off but I wont be as forgiving in the future!

Generally the haircuts I get are good. I like that you can be very specific about what you want, or leave it to them to use their experience to come up with a style they think works best for you. Their online booking system is atrocious and should be used as an example of how not to make a web-based booking application. You have to select *each* appointment type separately, so you can't book a haircut and beard trim at the same time. You have to make *two* separate bookings, *and* you have to know how long each appointment is for so you can select the right times with your chosen barber. Surely this business makes a nice healthy margin, so why they can't invest in a proper booking site is beyond me. Pall Mall have a myriad of different options and it's really hard to figure out what to book. For example, there are 3 different types of beard stylings. All with a different duration and it's not obvious which one to book and which one is right for you. Because this is not described in detail on their site you need to call them first to discuss what is best for you, at least if it's your first time. Some of the staff are very talkative, some are not. If you don't want to expose too much of your personal life, it gets awkard. The products they use are always of good quality. When getting your haircut you need to be very clear what you want, and make sure they understand what it is you think you have agreed. Get them to repeat back to you what you have described, to check their understanding. When you book you are asked to select a barber by name, otherwise they will just assign you to someone. My advice is to try all the different barbers in the branch, then go with the one you like the most from that point onwards. Be advised some of their branches get very busy. The Westminster branch never seems to be very busy whereas Trafalgar Square is always packed. Regardless, as with a good restaurant - always book ahead!

Hi Per Thanks for your feedback regarding the booking system. We decided 5 years ago to bring in online booking to PMB. This was ground breaking for barber shops as most do not take bookings. We agree the user experience of the booking system could be better so have spent the last year working on a brand new system that will launch in January. This should make your booking experience much more enjoyable. Have a great weekend
