My assessments were simple (yes I work) the work they did was first the internet, then different chapters. They tried to justify it. The assignment was to answer the question from the chapter with citation. Never did they add citations. My assignment was, Dees identifies five key characteristics of social entrepreneurs. Please list and explain each of these. What I received, Chapter 11: Key Characteristics of Social Entrepreneurs Engage in Economic Activity A social entrepreneur needs to continuously engage in activities that involve the exchange or production of goods and services in the market. Despite focusing on addressing environmental or social issues, a social entrepreneur should use business strategies and entrepreneurial principles to generate revenues and sustain business initiatives financially. A social entrepreneur can engage in economic activity to ensure maximum focus on social or environmental impact or improve transparency and measurement reports on the financial and social performance status. Engaging in economic activity fosters social entrepreneurs to improve financial measurement and transparency and maximize environmental or social impacts. Pursue an Explicit and Primary Social Aim A social entrepreneur should differ from for-profit businesses by focusing primarily on the business benefits to society. Pursuing social aim allows social entrepreneurs to have a clear mission that defines business focus and purpose that aligns with the identified social responsibility. Overall, the social aim characteristic improves a social entrepreneur to develop a positive social change by ensuring that business resources and activities maximally abide by achieving the desired social change. Have Limits on the Distribution of Profits and Assets Unlike for-profit businesses, a social entrepreneur should limit the distribution of profits to ensure that vast revenues are prioritized to achieve social aims rather than profit generation (Renz, 2016). Social entrepreneurship commits to a social and environmental mission, with the desire to ensure that all business activities and resources align with core values. Considering imposing limits on the distribution of profits or assets help to promote business fairness and equity and avoid drift from the primary business mission fulfillment. Independent A social entrepreneur should differ from traditional for-profit and state organizations through business objectives, mission, goals, and vision. Independence offers social entrepreneur’s greater control over strategic decisions, resources, and assets, contributing to long-term sustainability. It allows for maintaining stakeholders’ trust by focusing on a unique mission that commits to serving social, environmental, and external interests. Inclusive Governance A social entrepreneur should comprise democratic decision-making and participatory practices throughout its operations. Increased participation promotes stakeholders’ empowerment, focusing on ethical decision-making processes and sustainable partnerships. Inclusive governance helps social entrepreneurs adopt practices involving the entire community throughout
