“Really excellent silk pillowcases, the best I have found but the reason for not giving them a 5 star review is that I also bought some silk eyeshades from them and was very disappointed. The black silk eyeshades (unlike the pillowcases) were made of a knitted silk fabric which is not ideal as the knit traps heat and makes them a little hot. In addition the interlining is white therefore any amount of light will penetrate the weave and reflect into the eye. They could easily have been made from the same silk satin fabric as the pillowcases thus avoiding the problem. I had to return the item as it did not do what I wanted it to do and keep out the light.”
“I bought silk underwear in Jan 2020. Apart from quite a coarse weave my biggest bugbear is a very thick bulky waist elastic -inappropriate on such a fine fabric pair of knickers. At £21 not worth it.”
“Silk underwear purchased in Jan 2020 -very coarse weave, but greatest bugbear is the abnormally thick/bulky waist elastic on a pair of fine fabric knickers. Not worth £21”
“Quality is poor; silk underwear bobbling and becoming threadbare at the seams after just a month of normal wear and gentle washing. Considering how expensive they are, this is very poor show from a company who portray themselves as high quality.
When I sent them my comments they responded with a standard, lukewarm, corporate-speak email.
Very disenchanted and would not purchase again.”
“To pay for my purchases, I tried to use my primary Visa card, a French card, which I use several times a week for purchases in various countries. It was refused twice because my number was not compatible with my Visa. I tried my second card, another Visa card issued by Revolut bank. Same result. I am so utterly fed up with all these commercial sites stuffed with bugs, making life more difficult than it should be.”
“Frustrating and time wasting experience trying to order:
a) on line
b) via phone
On line - placed order 3 times. Went to bank, authorised payment - went back to merchant (Patra) and page frozen with no confirmation of placing order and no email cofirmation.
Really frustrated so try to call.
Placed around 7 calls on different phones and different locations- so no phone or network problem my end.
Sales people politely answer, .. then just go silent like they can't hear you!!
Altogether disappointing and frustrating. I doubt I will order from this company again. Even if I were able to!!”
“The fabric of dress I ordered was poor quality, very flimsy and one of the sleeves had a machining error on it, a big tuck of material sewn through in the wrong place. I would have expected better quality control for £49, adding insult to injury I have had to pay to return it. Lesson learnt with buying clothes online. I certainly won’t be tempted by Patra adverts again.”
“Quality of the material used for the waste band of mens underwear is poor so that in the recommended 30º wash settings the elastic threads separate and wrap around other garments.
The silk mix material also very quickly loses the smooth condition when first delivered. It is clearly unwise to accept their advice that a 30º wash is appropriate.
The customer service response to my email to them was just to say that they had noted my comments but had not experienced the problem themselves - not the most encouraging response if they expected any further business or a good recommendation.
Will avoid them in future.”
“I am a size 12 and I ordered a one size elasticated belt. It was so small that it felt as though it was cutting me in half. If this is indicative of the sizing I think this is appalling.”
“Dress on website at 13.79. Patra sent email confirming at 13.79.dress delivered but charged me full.price of 62.00 without authorisation from me. Could have made me overdrawn. Refused to stick to the reduced price. Have sent it back without opening.”
“Purchased two Pintuck shirt dresses from Patra early this year. Both fitted pefectly. One however, worn less than 5 times, has frayed apart at the seams and is irreparable! To say I am unhappy at response from Patra Customer Services is understatement. Do not consider this value for money at all. Cannot afford to throw away clothing barely worn!!”
“Back in the '90s I bought a pair of Patra silk trousers, size M. They still fit today and have lasted well. However I decided to buy size L last year because I know many manufacturers skimp on fabric by reducing the crotch to waist measurement, which I find uncomfortable. Unfortunately I had the length adjusted before washing them (as advised by hand in cold water) but they shrank so much they are now pirates! Unwisely I bought another pair recently, size XL, I washed them once and they are now too small. I have never known silk to shrink before, and I wonder whether this fabric is actually silk at all. You can't trust anyone these days!”
“"COTTON" NIGHTDRESS - NOT!
I bought a supposed 100% cotton nightdress. It certainly wasn't cotton. 60/40 polyester of poor quality. Made me sweat and there is a permanent stink to the fabric. I've bought far better cotton items from M&Co. Have bought a few silk items from Patra over the years. 5/10 for them, as they've not lasted long and as reviewer below, construction of garments very variable. This last experience is my last. They've lost my custom.”
“Although the quality of Patra's silk products are just about satisfactory, (i.e not great since their underwear doesn't stand up to washing very well and becomes bobbly and eventually threadbare after a number of washes), the real problem is their dispatch service: - absolutely hopeless!
Expect a wait of between 7 to 10 working days between placement of order and delivery; - what company in this day and age takes that long to process a simple of order of 2 pairs of underpants?! And what delivery service are they using when they state that their "normal delivery" takes between 3 and 5 days following dispatch? (1st class post will normally get to its' destination after 1 or, at worst 2 days). All in all, given the fact that Patra products are far from being cheap, they do in fact offer a pretty useless commodity.”
