“So far, this seems a sturdy and well made product. There is more noise that comes from Backbone from the thumb controllers than you get on a standard PS5 controller. Its integration with PS Remote Play is seamless, and the software seems well made so far. There are a few usability issues. It was frustrating to create a separate Backbone ID rather than just utilise an existing PSN Id only. Getting used to the controllers, compared to the existing PS5 controller is a bit tricky. Aiming and movement isn’t as sharp as it is on the PS5 controller on most games - COD MW2/Vanguard and Hitman 3 were tested. I will see what it is like on other games soon.”

“It’s awesome, I love it. One thing I wish was worked on is an easier way to detach the from the Backbone because I worry that pulling it apart to separate from phone may result in snapping it or cause the lightening connector to brake inside of the phone. Other wise I love it”

“I love being able to play my ps5 anywhere. This is definitely a PSP upgrade ! Only issue I have with is with the PS remote play. You have to reconnect to your PlayStation everytime you get a message or exit the app. I hope they fix that in the near future. The controller it’s self was a great investment I enjoy it a lot and it’s perfect for Apple Arcade games. I think they need a be adapter design for the 14 pro the way it sits makes me think the port is getting messed in but I could be wrong.”

“Looks and the ease of mounting the phone are top. Applying the phone adapter (I use 14 pro) and having the phone slightly tilted can trigger OCD, and the d-pad buttons are kind of off. PlayStation buttons feel like they have a deeper press but just need to get used to it. All in all, I would recommend it as the only way to play PS remote and Games on an iPhone.”

“The UX UI of the app is very good. Controller frels very good and buttons are good. The Build quality of the controller is very good and feels good with the phone. However, if I were to critique one part is that it can feel a little loose both with the phone and without. This is understandble because of the midsection, however, the quality of the controller would improve if the middel of the controller felt stronger this part could be more durable. I'm afraid this could get looser over some time. All in all, the controller is very good and does its Jon very very. Thank you.”

“I own an iPhone 13 and I ordered the backbone for some cool looking mobile games that have been coming out, but after getting the backbone I found that the camera gets in the way from the phone sitting properly. Also there’s no room for a case. After some quick research I found that newer iPhones required a free adapter to work, but why not just send the free adapter for all iPhones? Would save a lot of waiting time to get a second shipment.”

“I absolutely love my Backbone controller! It feels excellent and opens up so many options for how I play games on my iPhone. My personal favorite game to play with it is Rocket League Side Swipe. Having a controller makes the game feel so much more natural to control. There's even an app that does a great job of adding games to a console-style menu that you can navigate with the controller! Before I had this controller I would use a grip to attach my phone to an Xbox controller. Not only was this clunky but it also added lag because it was using a Bluetooth connection. I love this thing so much that I even bought a second one for the PlayStation design. However, there is a big downside to the Backbone. While it feels great, I have some concerns about the durability of long-term use. I mentioned before that I bought two. Well, it turn out that I had to send both of them back for warranty repairs. One had a trigger button that stopped working and the other started making a strange grinding sound inside the right stick. To the Backbone team's credit, they were both replaced for free. That said, it doesn't change the fact that you are pretty much required to buy some kind of 3rd party case on Amazon. I originally bought both because I love the product but now I feel like I need a second one as a backup. I also think the buttons feel a little bit too clicky and rough (like a Nintendo Joy-con). I wish they weren't quite so harsh to use but that's just personal preference. Also, one potential downside in the future is that this controller plugs directly into the iPhone's lightning port. This means that if you upgrade to a future iPhone that doesn't fit the case (or if the EU forces apple to change to USB C) these will be pretty much obsolete. The team has done a great job adapting the case with things like adapters that accommodate the 14 Max's camera bump but I worry about how long they can keep that up. I really hope they add some kind of lightning to USB C adapter if Apple does ever make the switch. Overall, despite the issues, this is a fantastic controller case! I have left my Switch in its dock for months because I find myself playing with my phone instead. That is a HUGE change from even a year or two ago. This product fundamentally changed how I use my phone and opened me up to a world of new games. Even with the issues, as long as it fits your phone I highly recommend it!”

“The backbone controller has exceeded all of my hardware expectations. Its comfortable to use, the buttons and sticks are small but extremely responsive and tactile, and the overall feel of the device is premium. The only downside is having to install the app (which forces you to sign up for their paid subscription service) in order to use a few features such as recording your gameplay from the controller button. I got this only to remote play from my series x at home and have no interest in downloading or subscribing to anything extra. Overall I would absolutely recommend this as an option for anyone looking to use remote play on their phone, or even if you just want a more responsive than Bluetooth option for mobile games.”

“Since I received my backbone I’ve played my Xbox games everyday. I love the ease of gameplay. I’m a little concerned with some of the game pad responses. It sometimes lags a bit but usually works well overall. I’m sure it’s minor bugs to be worked out but I love the controller a lot. Great product for the price. I will order one for my wife bc she likes mine and I fear she may attempt to take it.”
