“Rang Santander about the renewal of my home & contents insurance saying I thought the renewal premium was too high & I was considering getting a quote from another company & cancelling the policy I presently have with Santander.
I was fully expecting to discuss the matter with the Santander representative in an attempt to resolve the issue of the renewal premium, (ie. to get a reduction), but to my surprise he replied that he could cancel the policy there & then!
In view of his "couldn't care less" attitude, I told him to do just that, straight away. He added that I needed to do nothing else as he would see to doing everything that was needed to be done.
I would add that I have been able to insure the house & contents with a very reputable company (& have roughly the same level of cover), whilst the premium is some £80 less than Santander's renewal quote.
Sad to say that I am very disappointed with Santander,to whom I have entrusted my banking requirements for many years.”
“Recently enquired about a car loan- should be fairly straightforward. They lost the first application even though some documents were returned. Lost the second application. Third application made by email- took several days for a response! Eventually, into the 5th week, acquired requested loan!! The company states in its answerphone that a decision can be made in 5 minutes- really? Not good enough for an organisation of this apparent reputation.”
