ShopRite – Enfield, Connecticut ★☆☆☆☆ Visited on November 11, 2025, around 1:45 PM while traveling from Massachusetts. The staff here are rude, disinterested, unprofessional, and unhelpful—many look disheveled, hungover, or simply not in good condition to be assisting customers, as if they did not want to be there. I asked a worker who was stocking meat where I could find the pork section. His initial response, “in the refrigerator that holds the pork,” was unhelpful and dismissive. When I politely explained that I wasn’t familiar with the store layout, he reluctantly pointed me in the right direction. Another time, I asked where to pick up a pre-purchased order, and the deli worker questioned me instead of simply directing me. A different employee finally showed me the area. Overall, this store has poor customer service and unprofessional staff. I would not recommend this location until management improves employee conduct, training, and hires individuals who don’t come to work hungover.

I will never go back to ShopRite. They sell vegetables at twice the price of the farmer’s market in New Providence — and the quality is the same. On top of that, they often charge more at the register than the price shown in the store. I’ve noticed this several times. This time, when I mentioned it to the cashier, she told me to go to customer service to fix it — meaning I had to stand in another line just to correct a few dollars. This isn’t a random mistake; it feels like a systematic error. When I told her that the mistakes always seem to be in the store’s favor, she confidently said, “That’s the way it should be,” clearly knowing the store would support her rather than hold her accountable.

My son got his first job at ShopRite, and unfortunately, his experience under this manager was very negative. He’s an introvert who was trying to step out into the world and gain work experience, but instead, he found the environment under her leadership to be discouraging and stressful. He repeatedly asked to transfer to in-store shopping, but she never gave him the opportunity and kept him on the register. She came across as rude, unapproachable, and unsupportive—not the kind of manager who fosters growth or encourages young employees who are just starting out. Even during his interview, she made no effort to be welcoming; she didn’t smile at him or even acknowledge us in a professional manner. For a young person beginning their very first job, this lack of basic courtesy and support was disheartening and left a lasting negative impression. ShopRite deserves managers who motivate, guide, and help employees succeed—not those who make the workplace feel unwelcoming.

Nicole is the best. She was able to find the products I wanted & still stay smiling. It was not an easy job & I would recommend going to ShopRite just for the thoughtful help

I’ve had multiple disappointing experiences at the ShopRite in Skillman, and unfortunately, today was no different. They often advertise special holiday deals, but when you get to the register, the prices haven’t been adjusted correctly — meaning you end up overcharged unless you catch it yourself. A couple of weeks ago, I didn’t notice until I had already packed everything in my car. I had to go back into the store to get my money back — which was inconvenient but understandable once. However, today, on Memorial Day, I noticed I had again been overcharged for a holiday deal (Porterhouse T-bone steak). I went to customer service, and their response was incredibly rude and dismissive. They seemed irritated that I even brought it up. I understand that mistakes can happen, but it’s how a store responds that matters. Unfortunately, the customer service team at this location does not seem to know what customer service means. There was no apology, no courtesy, just impatience. This is not the level of professionalism I expect from a store like ShopRite. I hope management takes this seriously and improves training, because at this point, I’m reconsidering shopping here altogether.

Marcus at ShopRite on Washington rd Sayreville was one of the best cashiers I have ever had. He was polite, respectful and thorough. It’s not easy to take care of so many people and still maintain such a positive attitude. The woman ahead of us was a little grumpy, but Marcus was very courteous to her also. My son and his girlfriend ,who were with me that night (5/22/25) were equally impressed by Marcus. Please give him the recognition he deserves. Thank Y Dan,Dom and Manuela

I recently visited the ShopRite at Chamdor and had a disappointing experience. The customer service I received was subpar, and I left feeling frustrated. I waited for an excessive amount of time to be attended to, and when I finally was, the employee at the money market was unhelpful when an error occurred. To make matters worse, the till employee didn't apply the discount from my Extra Savings Card because I was only buying one item, which seems to be a misunderstanding of the program's policies. Furthermore, I was alarmed to see water on the floor without a caution sign, which is a serious safety concern. As a customer, I expect a safe and respectful shopping environment. I hope ShopRite takes my feedback seriously and makes necessary improvements to enhance the shopping experience. This includes improving customer service training, increasing staff efficiency, ensuring employees understand store policies, and addressing safety concerns.

I have been shopping at Shop Rite for many years but I will NEVER shop there again. I placed an online order. I never received notice that anything wasn’t in stock or if I wanted a substitution. I went to pick up the order just to discover that a third of it was missing!! There was no order summary listing what was missing just a cash register receipt. Customer service was horrific. I called and was kept on hold for 20 minutes just to be told I’d have to call back tomorrow!! I know it won’t affect their bottom line but I will never shop there again and I used to order about $500 a month. I guess I’ll go back to Giant and Safeway.
