“Out of 2 dozen button quail eggs only one hatched. We waited 7 days after the one hatched and beginning cracking open the eggs just to see if there was any development, there was none on any of the remaining. It is obvious that the eggs were not fertile. I called Stromburg and was told there is nothing they can do, I’m just screwed out of my money! I have done business with them in the past but will never again!”
“This is my first order from strombergs and I am very pleased. Out of 30 chicks, one arrived dead but they added 2 extra. All were bright eyed, no one was droopy and all are still thriving. Customer service was pleasant and helpful, when I called to check on my order.”
“I ordered 24 chicks which included 4 different breeds. Stomberg's was very helpful throughout the process. They sent me several follow up emails as to when the chicks would be shipped, how many days they should take to arrive, and where they would be shipped to. They even recommended that I check in with my local post office before their shipping date to let them know to notify me when my chicks arrived. The chicks arrived a day early. There were 27 chicks in the box, even though I only order 24. 2 of the chicks died over night, but the other 25 survived and are now approximately 8 weeks old. Since I had never ordered or raised live chicks before, I wasn't sure how many would survive, so to be safe, I ordered twice as many as I actually wanted. I'm very happy with my whole experience with Strombergs so far. My only concern, is that I specifically ordered females, and I have although I'm not 100% sure yet, it's been suggested to me that there could be 3 roosters in the bunch. Again, I'm not sure yet, so I plan to contact Strombergs on Monday to discuss the possibility and their policy. I will also submit a follow up review after I discuss it with them.”
“Horrible experience. Their shipping took almost right up to 9-10 days after ship date to get here. I called them twice and they wouldn't help us. finally they told us to hatch them and see what we get. So it took us 23 days extra just to see and only 4 hatched out of 30. We called back and they finally gave us a refund but minus 30 bucks. It was a horrible experience. Do NOT buy from this company.”
“I was told when ordering we would be getting chicks, not hatchlings. These were delivered to my vet so they could check them and do any needed health items immediately. All 150 chicks died under the care of my vet within a week! Absolutely Ludacris.”
“Horrible experience. We bought hatching eggs. They shipped and told us they would get there in 3 days. It took those eggs 8 days. I got orders from other companies I made after much faster than this company and order. When we called they told us they couldn’t do anything about it. Not a good experience. I will be going to other hatchery’s and staying far away from this one.”
“Never order from this company! I ordered 100 birds waited a month only to have 25 delivered. Their policy supposedly doesn’t allow them to fix their mistake and send the rest of the birds.
They were rude and treated me like it was my mistake. Finally did get a refund but not before several phone calls and messages left.”

I had to call the parent company MannLake to reach someone. They told me the item was discontinued and they would have to cancel my order. “Last year I order 30 California quail eggs. And waited and waited and never come. At the end of season I sent email to them asking for my order. Because their system said It been fulfilled. But never received my eggs. Later they toll me that they shipped my order and I never pick up from mail box. And they will not refund my money… Strombergs chickens robed me almost $84.43 dollars… DO NOT BUY from them. You ll be dissatisfied and loose your money…. Order #133594”
“This is the first time for me ordering chickens and many many years since I have raised any.I ordered 7 barred Plymouth rocks from Strombergs. I ordered them March 4th . They told me it would be summer or fall before I would get them. I received an email on May 15th that they have shipped. I live in southern Colorado and got them the mrning of May 17th. They had nice bedding and even food in the box. All the chicks arrived every healthy and lively. Yelp has terrible reviews for Strombergs, but my experience with them is positive and I'm very satisfied. Oh by the way the lady on the phone said they are getting 300 orders a day so be patient.”
“Had a very small order (3 chicks) and didn’t realize it would take 6 months to ship at time of purchase. By the time I received my shipping confirmation & realized how long it was going to take, decided to cancel the order right away. Was charged $10 to cancel. Did not see that coming. Bottom line is, if you have a small order, take your business somewhere else. Local feed stores might be a safer bet. Strombergs was a big disappointment, really enjoy giving my hard earned money away for nothing.”
