“Bought the Tapplock One+ thinking. The worst product I have ever used and i regretted it big time. I bought the lock for barely 4 months and it is spoilt. the lock just freezes and when i finally managed to unlock it, it does not go into hibernation mode when not in used. it just drains the battery dry within a day. Forget about what the ad. says about it being weatherproof or waterproof. they are totally untrue. The customer service wrote to me saying that they are unable to do anything about my lock as i bought it from Singapore Changi Airport (who is not an authorized agent) they do not even attempt to provide any possible solution. poor customer service and bad product. Purchase it at your own risk!”
“The first lock we purchased worked fine for a little over two years before it fell on the floor and broke the shackle. (?) We purchased a second Tapplock to replace the first one. It is not the same product. Not even close. We have to charge it daily. It will not recognize prints consistently. The shackle is reversed from the first model, so we had to reconfigure our latch. The customer service rep told me to hit the lock with my hand to make it work. This is a shady company. Buyer beware!”
“Horrible product. The lock does not open with 6 of my fingerprints registered. I bought 2 locks thinking they would be as good as the fingerprint lock I bought on Amazon for $19. My Amazon lock works everytime and the Tapplock may work after at least 5 minutes and when it doesn't open I have to go to my car, get my phone and open it from there. I returned one of the unopened locks and got a hard time from customer service eventhough the package was not opened or altered. The site says the battery on the lock lasts up to one year. Wrong! It lasts about one week. I might as well have thrown the $100 in the trash!!”
“I saw this on a talk show as one of the most useful items. I was VERY disappointed. I bought for a shed and it would not work. As long as I had it indoors under ideal conditions it would sometimes open but it would not open outside. Even inside the tap lock would take forever to open and most times I had to recharge before it would open. Needless to say it was not convenient!!
Way too much money for how it worked.”
“I order 3 of these locks and 3 months later still no locks. Support said they are behind on orders. The problem is they take your money and then keep telling you it will be another 2-3 weeks. Stay Away from ordering these because you may never get them.”
“Garbage. Tapplock One worked for about three months before hard failure. It won't even turn on now. Tapplock tried to get us to dump more money into their business by offering us 20% off of a new product. Typical sales technique for companies that sell garbage. Save yourself the time and money and buy a different brand.”
“WARNING, DO NOT BUY FROM TAPPLOCK.
I know these locks are cool, but the technology is not quite there yet, and Tapplock does not offer a warranty to match the limited lifespan of their product.
I purchased 2 of the original locks about 18 months ago. Both locks are used a few times a week on a gym locker (hardly heavy use). The Morse code and Finger sensor suddenly stopped working on one of the locks. I tried desperately to find a telephone number for Tapplock because like I said, the Morse code and finger print will not open the lock. (did I mention my phone was in the locker along with my wallet and car keys).
Well, no number could be found, I had to wait about 2 hours for my wife to meet me so I could unlock it with her phone. Anyway it has been about 6 days since I reached out to Tapplock via email (it takes hours and sometimes days for them to answer your question with another question that you had anseered in your original email because you knew thay would ask. Anyway ther eresponce is they canot help me, but here is a 25 off coupon for a new lock. ( I almost choked on my tic tac when I read that) Could it be they really wanted me to purchase another lock for $75? I tried explaing to them, that my $100 is now of no value to me since I must have my phone to use it and I dont always have my phone with me and that it was only 18months old. I also tried explaining that the main selling point of the lock was that it can be opened with a fingerprint. Why would they try telling me to use morese code or my phone? (still waiting for a reply onthat one) how could a $100 items main feature be expected to last 18 months only? Clearly something went wrong, be it defect or other reason.
How would a new startup company not stand behind a recenetly out of warranty item. Well. It is what it is, but I feel obligated to let others know my story so they dont throw $100 bucks down the toilet.
If not for the fingerprint, I would continue to use my 30+ year old Dialpad Masterlock. (damn technology got the best of my wallet again!)
The jist of this story is to STAY AWAY at least until they change thier policy to stand behind thier products.”
“Bought two locks. Seven days later, no response from Tapplock. Emailed to cancel order, still waiting on response. Filed claim with PayPal to recoup my money. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY - READ THE REVIEWS (Wish I would have)...”
“Failed after a rain and if you look on website warranty does not cover water damage why say it’s waterproof when it’s not and on top of that they won’t warranty water damage I bought 4 of these for outside use cause they say waterproof and ok for outside use”
“So the negative reviews here are from people who have received their locks and see that it is a piece of junk. Unfortunately for me, I don't have that luxury as I was an early investor in TappLock's Indiegogo campaign in early 2016 and have STILL not received anything along with several other early buyers. We barely get any updates or responses from their team, and when we do, they are bold-faced LIES.
That should tell you everything you need to know about the guy behind this scammy "company"”
“After requiring support to log on to app, it briefly worked. Then first time it was used the lock connects with my Iphone, and when the app “unlock” is pressed it says the lock is unlocking (but the lock remains locked). When fingerprint is tried, the light turns from white to green (briefly) then goes out. Lock doesn’t open. When morse code is tried it shuts off before the “10” digits are entered. 4 emails to support without response over the past month is unsatisfactory! I'll need to cut the lock or my favorite gym bag if it wont open.”
“Arrogant customer service. Claims of being "proudly Canadian" ring hollow when you find out the locks are made in China, shipped to a warehouse in the US, and you are billed in USD. These guys make my skin crawl.”
