“I am appliance repair technician. I tried to work through Thumbtack. Leads cost about $50. If the client cancels the appointment, you will not get your money back for the lead. Accordingly, your next lead will cost $100. Also, your account may be blocked because of a crazy client who complained about you. Beware!!”
“Refuses to honor their own trust and safety 'property damage guarantee' and won't even honor the slimy forced arbitration they embed in the terms and conditions. A shady company just stay far ware”
“This company thumbtack is a scam
This company thumbtack is a scam, false advertisement. I hired some movers that according to thumbtack was highly rated. The company is call Melinda Metro movers. They showed up with a rental truck a very small truck, U kenew they were not going to fit everything in such a small truck. They had to do in two trips. They scratched my furniture, damaged my washer and dryer and broke a new 65 inch tv. They hit the screen it has no picture. Thumbtack and their pro asured me they were insured. I have been trying to have Thumbtack to honor what they advertise 100,000.00 warranty and so far they have not fix our TV. They just keep blaming eachother. The pro has not giving me the information to file a claim and Thumbtack is blaming everybody and refuse to honor their 100% warranty. Is fraud, scam how can they be in business. It's been a month and still trying to get my TV fix. Totally unethical scam.
Date of experience: June 04,”
“If I could give them negative stars I would. Their refund policy is extortion and I am talking to a lawyer and other tradesmen now about a class action lawsuit as we have all had similar experiences with them sending referrals not within our preferences, charging us for them and then providing an airiness “we have reviewed the request and it’s not eligible for refund”. I have a dozen pros that have been screen shorting and tracking the experience and we have engaged a lawyer. Thumbtack is absolute extortion. If you don’t want to spend more than a lead is worth 100% do not register with them.”
“I'm writing to share my experience with www.thumbtack.com as a business owner. While they originally delivered qualified leads with good conversion rates, things have changed significantly in the past two years.
Currently, I receive one qualified lead per month versus four "doubtful" leads who don't engage (read messages, answer calls, etc.). Despite these low-quality leads, I'm charged between $28 and $98 each.
Thumbtack's policy towards professionals has become unfair. The "zero refund" policy for these unproductive leads makes it a gamble, and achieving high visibility requires allowing them to charge you hefty per-lead fees. If you refuse, you're buried with no leads.
As a small business, I spend $800 monthly on Thumbtack, but my conversion rate has plummeted from 80% to a mere 20% in two years. While I still receive a few good leads, it's a significant financial burden.
Given my membership-based service model, I can absorb this cost. However, I urge businesses without similarly resilient models to stay clear of Thumbtack. Their current practices could leave you financially strapped before you even turn a profit.
In short, unless your business allows you to weather these questionable leads and high costs, avoid Thumbtack.”
“I simply requested a Solar Equipment review for a possible malfunction, which warranty company would work with a legal Arizona Solar Business and I pay labor costs. Easy I woulg give an estimate to the well known warranty company, they would approve deliver necessary equipment and I would pay the labor costs.
Instead Thumbtack referred a criminal who did unaujthorfized and never requested Electrical work because it was an emergency fire risk that I was in danger since I am Federally Recognized Medical Homebound Disabled Person. He said he was Solar but also a licensed Afrizona Electrician since he did the work to save my life I owed $390.00. Not what I expected but I thought Thumbtack recomended Pro I paid not expecting Thumbtack to sell my private information to a criminal,
I have been communicating in writing with Thumbtack since 6.18.2023 proof that the company is not a legal solar company or electrical company, wrfitten proof of the Thumbtack Pro utilizing the Thumbtack Platform to perform fraud on me and professional Legal Arizona Electrician who I am willing pay the Legal Electrician not me, $1,500 repairs of unauthorized electrical damages.
Thumbtack Sujpport in writing acknoledged and stated valdated my complaint as true no disagreement there. Thumbtack, com Support written statement is Thumbtack.com is a neutral party, Though they haven't provided documentation and I can't find any public infofrmation, IK was responsible for determing if a Thumbtack recomended Professional Busiess was really a Professional Business or a criminal. Thumbtack.com written statement was the criminal would give ne the $390.00 refund if I signed legal waivers provided by the criminal releasing him from any financial resposibility of his criminal damages to my property because he, the un qualified illegal electritian, had decicded that the qualified legal electrician was in error not him and Thumbtack has no control of illegal activity on Thumbtack.com Platform, I can't find and haven't been provided documentation I was responsible to monitor illegal activity on Thumbtack.conm Platform
Thumbtack.com acknowsledge and didn;t disagree illigal activity veing performed by a Thumbtack Pro on Thumbtack.com Platform. 8/10/2023Thumbtack.com iks still profiting selling tghe criminal leads for his illegal company, the criminal has my $390.00 and according to his Thumbtack.com website page not only is still fraudalent advertising but did a 20,000.00 illegal solar job for a Thumbtack, com customer who I hope doesn't have any issues because he has no construction license or construction insurance as requied by Arizona Public Law for any building modifications over $1,000.00.
Glad the criminals Thumbtack and the illegal business Mesh Bros Enterprises are still profiting where I, the Thumbtack Customer have to still have my solar equipment reviewed, my original request, but I was provided unexpected expensive financial responsibilityh of $1,500.00 to pay for illegal activity by Mesh Bros Enterprises.
I did not receive services requested and my home was damaged $2,000.00 by criminal activity because I used Thumbtack.com as opposed to other referral companies where I wasn't unknowingly put in a situation of a criminal approaching me. I, Marie Ishol. Publicly swear this is my true experience and all documentation has been submitted to Arizona Attorney Generals Office to review my claim of Thumbtack.com Fraudalant Advertising. Thumbtack.com did not inform me prior to my legal agreement with Thumbtack.com I was giving Thumbtack, com permission to sell my private inforfmation to a known criminal. The illegal solar company did not find publicly I wanted a free estimate for possible solar equipmdent failure, Mesh Bros Enterprises were only aware of me because I agreed for Thumbtack to sell that private information to Thumbtack.com's Private Professional Network.”
“Please please please don’t trust thumbtack
This is all fake
I am an electrician and waste my money and time
All were fake,customer and leads
I couldn’t talk with them”
“I gave them plenty of occasions to fix the lie. They let a client (probably a scammer or fake account) talk about my business.
He left a 1-star review after he lied about hiring me.
He said he "hired" me, and he never did, I never got paid I never even knew his name I just told him I wasn't doing the type of work he required
But thumbtack trusted him and with no prove confirmed that I was "hired by him" (that is not true and when asked them to show me prove they said they don't need any) and consequentially he was able to review me one start!
When I never had any interaction with him other than telling him I couldn't do his type of job.
(and thumbtack was able to read out correspondence and confirmed to me he was not the type of job I was filtering with for my leads!)
Not only they made me automatically pay for his lead because he lied about the type of job and made me spent 30$! But they allowed a person I paid 30$ (a fake person) to rate me over a service I never gave!?
and I spent 1 hour with your customer service to be told it was okey he can lie about me I need to answer him in the review, and they didn't want to delete the fake review (nor give me back the money obviously, but that is their standard business).”
“thumbtack referred me to REFRESH AND BUILD a company that remodels with a specialty in kitchens and bathrooms.
I cant thank REFRESH AND BUILD ENOUGH FOR THE AMAZING JOB THEY DID ON MY VERY OLD FASHIONED BATHROOM. THEY TURNED INTO A TROPICAL RAINFOREST!!
THE PROJECT MANAGER, SAM IS THE MOST EXTRAORDINARY CONTRACTOR AND SO ARE ALL THE WORKERS. BEST COMPANY AROUND!! VERY PATIENT, VERY AFFORDABLE AND VERY RELIABLE.”
