Has anyone else had trouble with the final bill being astronomical?! They are trying to charge me £2300 for 4 months usage!!

Just beyond terrible. They ask for meter readings then ignore them and make up others. Was charged £300 on my final bill as the reading was 2000kw over the reading I gave them. Called them as soon as I received my final statement (waited an hour on hold to get through), was assured they could see the issue and it would be sorted out then 2 weeks later found that £300 missing from my account with no warning. Waited on hold for another hour and a half then the person on the line(in South Africa, i believe) didn't give a sh.. and was not listening to what I was saying and kept asking me what I'd already told them and not even trying to figure out a solution. Had to go karen on them and get a supervisor to actually listen to what I was saying and (hopefully?) get it sorted. Then had to get my bank to reverse the payment, which was another hour on the phone. Then their having taken that money also made me late with other payments that couldn't go through due to the funds not being there, so I'll be getting penalties for those. Now I'm also having to get my new provider to change their readings of my meter as they've gone off what Tonik told them, not the readings I gave. What is wrong with the systems in this country, honestly.

WORST COMPANY EVER Applied to transfer to Tonik; after telling me I was now their customer I found out they had bungled transfer from previous energy company and it was delayed for two months. So I was still paying higher charges I had switched to avoid. That was sorted after a lot of hassle; Tonik provide an e-mail contact address abut never answer, just automated reply. Phone waiting times are 30mins plus and sometimes they just cut you off if they're finding your problem is too complex (as also noted by customers in other reviews). At end of a year they wanted to make a big increase in payments with no justification as I wasn't in debt and usage hadn't increased. So I changed supplier. New supplier advised not to close Tonik diect debit yet so they could take last payment/finalise my account. Then I found that Tonik continued to take several regular payments from my account EVEN AFTER I WAS NO LONGER THEIR CUSTOMER. After more long waits on phone got through to an OK advisor who promised to finally settle my account, close it down and repay the payments wrongly taken. This was done and that seemed to be the end of my hassles with these sharks. But no... Now, months later, last week I find a new direct debit set up by Tonik and another payment taken from me. I wait 40mins to speak to Tonik, explain the problem and am then, Tonik admin annoyed at complexity of my problem, I'm cut off. And again Tonik ignore all e-mails. My bank tells me they are "a 3rd party" in this so can't prevent it; the only way I can stop Tonik from repeatedly setting up direct debits is to switch to a new account (with all the accompanying hassle) that they wont have the details of. I had already begun a formal complaint with Tonik but, again, they completely ignore it. next stop - energy Ombudsman. Tonik are the worst company ever and have STOLEN MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNTt: yet they refuse to discuss this with me. And my bank says they can't stop them doing this again unless I close my account! Avoid Tonik like the plague.

After receiving such terrible customer service I finally decided to leave this company. Now they keep making excuses not to return my credit. Other customers have the same experience. Avoid this company at all costs. They're just not worth all the hassle. Looks like I'll have to go to the ombudsman to get my money back.

Do not even consider switching to this Company. Their accounting method is impossible to understand without a degree. It is impossible to speak to anyone without hanging on the line for hours and after all that should you decide they are not for you do NOT expect a hassle free exit.

It is impossible to overstate how bad Tonik energy are. Do not use them under any circumstances. They have been overcharging me since I joined them and they currently owe me almost £800. I have been trying to retrieve this for half a year and they always agree they owe me the money, they say they will process a refund, and then never do. This money is mine, Tonik don’t dispute it but simply don’t pay it back. It seems many others have the same trouble with this appalling company, just read the reviews on trust pilot. I implore you to avoid Tonik, if you don’t you WILL regret it. Still waiting for a refund.

I switched from Tonik to a new provuder, and contacted Tonik numerous times in order to get my final bill produced and my credit balance back. Tonik maintained that they had not had the closing reading from my new supplier but on contacting my new supplier they confirmed that they had supplied the closing reading about two weeks after the switch. However Tonik maintained that they did not have the closing reading and refused to produce the closing bill or give me my credit balance back. After 8 weeks of getting nowhere despite many contacts to Tonik, I referred my complaint to the Ombudsman and as soon as the Ombudsman resolution said the bill should be priduced, hey presto, all of a sudden Tonik could produce the final bill instantly! However, in the explanation they gave they admitted that they did have the final reading around two weeks after the switch (contradicting their previous lie) but they still did not pay the £150 they owed me! Only after I again escalated matters with the Ombudsman did my money finally get paid! Basically they did nothing unless they were forced to by the Ombudsman and my advice to anyone is to avoid this company!

Getting worse multiple formal complaints , nil response to e mails futile phone conversation, its is now June 2020 no Statement since 13th March you have over £560.00 of my money when are you going to send me a statement. Your Social media team have already requested details from me all supplied within hours of your request, a bit fat zipo of a response thus far. Dont blame it on Covid this all started way before lock down.

I was switching from Tonik due to drastic price increases. The switch was then "temporarily" blocked by Tonik as I had an outstanding balance. I paid the outstanding cost on the same day. They were then supposed to unblock the switch but they didn't. I then receive another email stating my subscription with Tonik had been renewed and I would go from being charged £35 to £83 every month! I tried to contact them again yet they have ignored all of my emails and just keep trying to take more money completely disregarding my switch. Several months later, I have now been sent an unpaid bill reminder with debt collection threats! Truly awful company all round. Hidden costs, dishonest, bad customer service. Avoid this scam like company at all costs.
