“I prefer to book my travels with TravelLocal because I get connected to a local travel agent from the country I want to visit. In my mind the local travel agent knows the best his/her country can offer me and has in depth knowledge and can give me good advice. One of my main preferences when booking my holidays with TravelLocal is that if there is a hiccup which can always happen I have a local travel agent who will deal with the problem immediately.”

“Fantastic holiday in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan at our pace with very knowledgeable guides. Travel Local and its local companies were great (and patient) at helping us work out the itinerary beforehand. We could make sure we had plenty of time to explore places properly as well as time just to wander around and soak up the atmosphere. Just one tip: When you're sleeping in a yurt with a bed of a dozen eiderdowns on top of each other to keep warm, make sure you and your partner are between the same layers. It's warmer that way!”

“When in Jan 2014 my husband was asked to attend an International Physics meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan, I jumped at the idea of visiting Samarkand and Bokhara. only to find they are somewhat distant in Uzbekistan! Searching for travel agents who would plan an itinerary to include travel and accommodation in the towns, together with some trekking in Kyrgyzstan, I nearly despaired. I was offered only set tours until I lighted upon TravelLocal. It proved a delight to work with Huw Owen with his great depth of experience and knowledge of Central Asia and his contacts with local travel agents. They produced a fascinating and varied trip tailored to our several interests and trekking capacity (we are both over 70!) The travel arrangements were detailed and our guides excellent. We slept in tents, village homes, fascinating little hotels and Yurts and saw sights that we will never forget in the company of really interesting local people. Thank you Travel Local.”

“My travelling companion and I have now organised two very enjoyable trips with Travel Local. It has been a very efficient and personal service, a tailor made service at a more reasonable cost. Also as they put you in contact with the agents in the area you will be visiting you know that the local economy will benefit. “Personal service from start to finish. Hugh obviously knew our destination well, made useful suggestions to improve our own itinerary then matched us directly with a local company. They too were prepared to tailor the trip to our requirements, and offered an excellent standard of service throughout the trip and tremendous value. We were able to experience the Silk Road with local people, avoiding mass tourism. Knowing all payments were held by TravelLocal until the trip was completed was an added bonus. We would not hesitate to use TravelLocal again.”

“Used to travelling independently, at our own pace and following our own interests, there are still times when having someone else do the ground work really makes sense. A trip to the Caucasus seemed to be one of those for us, but we still wanted as much local input as possible - something that booking through Travel Local is making possible for us. By putting us into direct contact with their Georgian colleagues we have been able to plan our itinerary to suit our particular requirements and provide the free time we enjoy, knowing that local businesses will benefit whilst still having the security of booking and paying through an ABTA company. “I travelled to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and China with Travel Local on a 6 week trip, and I was astonished by the quality of service that TL was able to provide, often in places where there is scant tourist infrastructure. The logistics of a long trip in Central Asia are fairly complex, involving quotes and itineraries designed and operated by different local agents in each different country. Travel Local made sure this process was not only very efficient but genuinely enjoyable. I felt like I had made friends in Central Asia long before I departed! There was never any concern about putting my faith in small tour companies from far-flung places, as everything was arranged under the auspices of Travel Local, and with their financial protection. This gave me peace of mind not just about payment, but it also extended to the quality of the services I enjoyed on my trip - guides, drivers, accommodation, etc. In short, Travel Local has made it possible for me to organise my trips abroad in a way that offers total flexibility, security, and a fantastic opportunity to plan my trips with local people in the destinations I'm visiting. Recommended unreservedly.”

“We have used Travellocal three times, visiting China, Japan and Cuba. Each time, we travelled extensively within these countries for about a month. Travellocal's concept of partnering with local companies was what first attracted us to them. We liked the idea of independent travel with expert help 'on the ground'. Overall, we have found these companies first-rate, particularly in respect of their guides and drivers. Travellocal have been very good facilitators, often suggesting quirky options, which has helped us get the maximum enjoyment from our trips. Both Tom and Huw have extensive knowledge of the travel industry, and passionately believe in giving their customers a unique and unforgettable experience.”

“If you want a tour with a cheerful, professional guide, or a trip to the back of beyond, TRAVELLOCAL is THE company to choose. We took three different Travellocal guided trips last year- Tanzania, India, and a very special one to Kazakhstan to find the Baby House where our second son was born. Kazakhstan: adoption in 2004 and a desire to visit that orphanage again in 2014 for our now-12-year-old son. Our one clue for contact was "The Baby House, Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan". Huw Owen took on the cause for us, found the orphanage, found a local tour guide and interpreter for us in Petropavlovsk. When we arrived we found that we were the first non-Kazakh family in 7 years to visit the orphanage! We even traveled with a Travellocal interpreter and driver to several national parks in the country, a wonderful addition to our trip. India- Calcutta to Delhi- with a guide who found dinner in a local home, kite flying in Jaipur, elephants, a tiger, marble mosaics, riding on horseback beside Ranthambur National Park. Our guide brought us to the big sites, and to the small villages to meet local farmers. Tanzania and the Serengeti- we visited twice because we liked our guide and his incredible knowledge of the wildlife so much. Onion and goat farms, bananas, fennec foxes, cheetah brothers, hunting with the Hadzaba, and 140+ species of birds. Our guide Raphielle was known as the man who went farther into the Serengeti than any other, and he routinely found special animals for us BY OURSELVES, not surrounded by 15 other vehicles as is common. Travellocal can find anything for you, anywhere in the world. Just ask and adventure!”

“From the first email I sent to travellocal.com, I was impressed with their excellent customer service. They were extremely helpful and put us in touch with a local agent in Mongolia. Even after all the arrangements had been made with the local agent, Tom still took the time to email and wish us well on our trip, and also gave us very useful advice from his own previous experience. Can't fault them at all, and would definitely use them again.”

We were not being herded around with lots of other Brits, but had a chance to meet local people and begin to get 'under the skin' of the country. “My husband and I travelled to India with TravelLocal. The booking process was great as we were immediately put in touch with local providers who were very knowledgeable about the area we were visiting and able to advise us on a good itinerary. We felt very well looked after throughout and well advised. During the holiday, the service was outstanding from our local operator. We had five star service with excellent guides and a fantastic driver. They were flexible and professional. I would use TravelLocal again in a heartbeat. It was good value with excellent service.”

“We have travelled to South East Asia with Travellocal. Our experience was the best possible, the lodges, transportations, guides and contact with local people and culture was better than expected. Very friendly and knowlegeble in the booking and reserve process, with hints and patience, during the trip every thing was smooth and nice, and they contacted us after we came to back, demonstrating how caring they are about their customers. We highly reccomend Travel local they are experts in authentic experience with the best prices!”
