“Utter crooks. This is basically scare mongering and profiteering. Won't lift a finger for you unless it gets them publicity where they can sell more memberships. Individuals are left out in the cold. Don't waste your money. Just ring ACAS, which is basically all unite will do for you at £17pm”
“Worse union ever. I am membership for 1 year now and I am having issues at work. I keep calling them abs they never come back to me. The first time I spoken to the lady in charge for my case she was defending the company. They get money from the companies and they don’t support the staff.
I have called ACAS which is free service are way better than Unite the Union
I Do not recommend Unite the Union to anyone”
“Worse than useless, I complained for over a year about management in my Co. Lying, bulling, threats, and cover ups in Ethics investigations with no help at all from Derby office. I was eventually forced to leave but as they didnt advise me, i missed out on Constructive dissmissal, i tried to pursue my complaints after leaving but Unite then refused to help as "i was no longer with the employer!!' They sad they "EMPLOY THEIR OWN SOLICITORS" thats a lie, when they eventually put me in touch, the solicitors are a private Co. WHO PAY UNITE A FEE!!! IF, they decide to take the case!!!! Waste of 6yrs membership fees”
“I paid monthly fees to them for years and in that time I called upon them for help twice. On both occasions I was assigned incompetent fools, who clearly had no clue as to what they were doing.
Also on both occasions they actually tried to justify my company's poor conduct and tell me I had no real argument. It was only when I spoke with ACAS that I got the help and advice I needed to help myself.
I'm furious that Unite have had years of monthly fees from me for nothing. I may as well have poured that money down a grid.”
“Union in cahoots imwith companies... they dont fight for members interests only their own... the staff on relevant positions there should be replaced and any position should be like american presidencies... 2 terms and another 1 comes along... fight the corruption within”
“Don't ever expect any kind of redress using Unite the Union even if you've got a decade + worth of membership under your belt. They don't care, they won't fight your corner, they are paid off staffers once they get in touch with your employer or HR department. One of the tricks of the game they employ with your employer against you is the union man won't attend your grievance meeting if your company is based outside of your home postcode, and your employer won't delay your meeting regards if you don't have the representation you've paid for. 14 years ago when Unite brought out the older Union "Amicus" they were still a better outfit who had morals and respect for their members, but now you can forget it. Corruption is rife. Do yourself a big favour and cancel your membership today and save yourself £180 per year. UKAS is also useless but they are free when you have employment issues.”
“Dreadful Union. They support the company against you even on small matters. Total liars. Never trust them or join. As the others are saying on here, simply avoid at all costs. Very rarely do they help anyone. Only a friend who has links with them.”
“Was told a 14.5 hrs journey could be done in 9.5 hrs when I refused telling them it could not be the unite union just stood by and watched me be slaughtered ultimately loosing my job of over 12 years just like that . Avoid this union at all cost as they really work for the company and not the people who pay for membership . Do Not trust ! You will loose your job and possibly a lot more.”
“STAY AWAY
No one is ever reachable via phone calls or emails. You pay for nothing and they all laugh in your face
Shame on Unite the Union who is looking to fool people around and take their hard worked money without any support in return”
“I was made redundant shortly after being diagnosed with cancer.
Unite informed me the treatment I received was illegal and would represent me but despite arranging 3 hearings, they told me my Union rep was on holiday at the last moment and told me to reschedule.
Due to the stress of constant cancelled representation and my chemotherapy, I was forced to give up my case.
I got far more help from free services like UCAS and Citizens advice and the £15 a month that I paid Unite for many years was a complete waste.”
“I wish I had read the reviews prior to joining.
It’s not clear on the website but they will not help you if you have an issue within 4 weeks -
So if your googling who will help you in your time of need - avoid!
£22 For nothing - a withheld number called me -
Quoted terms and conditions and the call was ended!
In my experience, extra stress was added to a situation where I turned to them for help.”
“Just awful. Been through a hellish experience with my employer and trying to get support from Unite is like pulling teeth. All very clinical and don't seem to care. Feeling really isolated already and thought I was paying for support. Shameful.”
“Called the union and explained but since I was out of work and had a case filed in work tribunal, they couldn't represent. Which I agreed. The person I spoke to advised I could join the union and pay £3.03 per month as unemployed status. This will cover only access to legal services but Not representation. So I did.
Fast forward. I have been calling to get that legal services. The first phone call I spoke to a personell. Instantly they downplayed my tribunal claim. Making their conclusion and telling me my employer can look up for others claims I had made prior and ise it against me. Again, I am fighting a Giant company and need to be careful as I might have no chance. How this was a concern or threat, I cannot tell. As an advisor for an work union, that was way out of proffetionalism. Second time I called, the person I spoke to lamented again, that the Big Giant company will slap me with legal fee both on my side and the company. How this companies treat the employees who want to be good workers,, go on duty, do their job and get mistreated unfairly after, then the Union which is suppose to advise and act as mediate start taking side of the Giants,, beats the logic. How this union claim to represent workers interests is a big sham. They just want poor and misfortune people who have been treated unfairy by the so they call Big Companies to pay them without any consideration and care at all.
Ps/ make an option of 0*”
“Inept and in bed with the company. Little care for mental health although they make noises about it and how they do care. Please don't waste your time and money.”
