Easy to use, on the pricier side, and now can't even get a proper tax receipt for the tours: Good selection and easy to search. Do note many of these tours are available on other sites which seem to give better pay later options. The main issue I have with this as a site is that having taken tours with them and now returned home, it has been impossible to get a tax or proper receipt for the tours we booked. I tried their online help, their customer service, seems now we have been, paid and completed our trips, the care factor has waned. Being told to refer to the booking is not providing a tax receipt. It is not even like there is a link to download the receipt from the booking.

Viator is a hit or miss. We purchased a ticket to a wine tour in santorini and the company never came to pick us up. They claimed to have no affiliation with viator...what's crazy is that viator confirmed with us! However before we had a company help us out in a tour in Greece and everything turned out great. So you never know with viator

Book the Budapest Parliament House tour for May 29, 2018. Advertised as small group which we were hoping would be around 20 people. We had 38 and you could hardly heard the guide and people were pushing to get up front so we could understand the guide. Very poor.

I just completed the Viator half day Versailles tour. The motor coach was filthy and filled with garbage in many seat fronts. This was the first tour of the day. I am in the meeting planning and incentive Trip business and could not believe what shape the coach was in. This was bus one today. It sets the tone. Why is it not normal procedure to clean the bus of garbage after each tour. I will think twice or more before I book again.

I count on reviews before scheduling... I booked 2 through Viator. 1 was amazing, other was horrible. I can't find a way to review the 2 experiences.

A trip was cancelled but Viator did not let us know so we were waiting at the pickup point at 7am in the morning. Completely ruined our day.

had many problems booking thru viator. first reservation i made was cancelled a week later because it was thanksgiving. i get that it was thanksgiving but viator took my reservation!!!! the second reservation i made was changed 5 days before our trip because the equipment i reserved was not available at the time i chose. Had to call company directly to get it taken care of. then when we arrived at company they could not find our reservation, that may be the companies problem but i have never had a reservation with expedia or any other website have so many issues.

For those who haven't used them before, Viator is a search site that connects people with various tour companies. They do not provide the tours themselves, so there is a certain level of variety in the quality and style of the tours they work with. Over the past few years, I've gone on at least a dozen tours in four countries, all except for one were great. One of the main perks is you can find a variety of tours in any given area. You can save yourself some money by doing the additional research to find the local companies, but it's a reasonably small amount they tack on so I've always chosen the time savings instead. The downside, is since they are third party site, they provide little to no customer support. After booking, the customer receives a voucher which includes the information for the actual tour guide. The ones I have received always include a phone number, none of them include an email. When trying to set things up in a different side of the world, an email would be helpful. You can request Viator to contact the local guide, they will forward the request but in my experience, Viator includes a snarky response along the lines of 'you have their contact information and that's your best bet.' Not helpful. Also, with the one tour company that did not provide the described tour, I requested a refund which two weeks later, I have not received a response. After waiting a few days, I submitted a one star review for the tour, with full explanation of the issues. The website includes a note for one star reviews, stating that their customer service team will review the issue and attempt to resolve it. As of a week later, I still have not been contacted and the review was posted three days later. So, if you are looking for a reasonably reliable search engine for local tour companies, this is a good option. Just understand, they are not the primary service provider and their level of customer service reflects this fact.

We had both a great experience and a terrible experience with Viator in Paris. The Eiffel Tower tour was perfect with a punctual and efficient and friendly host and a fantastic experience. Followed by a very terrible and disappointing experience with the tour to Palace of Versaile. There were 5 of us (we didn't know each other) waiting from 11 a.m. at pick up point. Suppose to pick up at 11:45. We phoned at 12 and were told 'we' missed the bus but 'we' were all there and the bus never came. They refused to send another van or to reimburse us for the trip. Everyone else is going to complain too. Whoever you have in charge of this trip should be fired and find a new company. He was totally rude on the phone. My son and I ended up taking a cab there in back and waiting in line and it ended up being a very costly day. I hope you will address this issue because now I would be afraid to use Viator in the future and I can't tell my friends to use it either. The Versaille trip was in my son's name, David Dehoney. So I would rate you one 'very good' and one 'very poor' Hope you read this. Elaine Dehoney

Used them for 3 services in Paris. 2 were great!!! But they failed on one!! They were not at the airport for the airport to hotel transfer.
